Would you trade for McCoy?

armstead98 : 8/19/2017 3:21 pm
With the bills likely tanking their players can probably be had and not much use for a running back on the downside of his career.

Would you trade a 3rd for him?
Not sure if you are talking Giants or in general.
Carl in CT : 8/19/2017 3:26 pm : link
Depends on your team if you feel you have a shot and RB is a position of need. If you are still in the building of a team mode, then no.
Not with our line
superspynyg : 8/19/2017 3:30 pm : link
I would rather have the pick.
No
BillT : 8/19/2017 3:30 pm : link
A 3rd. No chance. Downside vet RBs like him go for a 6th. You got a vet like him that plays LT then maybe. But RBs is a young man's position.

Stansly Maponga.

Hell, I'll throw in a movie to, BUT NO FREAKING POPCORN, OKAY...
What???

Is this just some random brain synapse?

The season hasn't started yet and the Bills are tanking?

In the sorry state of that division, the Bills will likely sleepwalk to 2nd place.

^This. The Jets are a mess, and the Dolphins have no QB. And no, I wouldn't trade for McCoy.

Gillislee is in NE now and they have very little behind McCoy. I think they're trying to build for the future but I also don't think they're looking to punt this season.

Look, if you could trade him for a conditional #6 or #7 why not?
SGMen : 8/19/2017 6:01 pm : link
He's a proven back and we can make a run this year. None of our running backs are proven. McCoy has another big year left in him I'm sure.

So if he signed and had a 200-900-6 type season behind this OL you'd have to be happy, right?

There's no chance they're trading their best offensive player for a conditional 6th or 7th round pick.

I have no idea where people come up with this stuff.
Yes I would
pjcas18 : 8/19/2017 6:06 pm : link
depending on the cost (would need to be Buffalo tanking majorly and wanting very little in return) and I'd either trade them Vereen or cut Vereen, McCoy could be the back on 3rd down making Vereen useless (in addition to 1st and 2nd) and get spelled by Pekins, Gallman, or Darkwa for a series or 2.

Is this really going to happen, heck no.
allstarjim : 8/19/2017 6:07 pm : link
However, if there was a real negotiation for him...I would definitely trade a 2nd rounder. Lesean McCoy is a HOF talent at RB. If you don't see how he could really put this offense over the top then you are crazy. The 2nd is going to be the 64th overall pick anyway ;)! Is McCoy worth the 64th overall pick? YES HE IS.
Don't kid yourself.
Red Dog : 8/19/2017 6:09 pm : link
The Bills are not tanking. They are carefully and intelligently positioning themselves for the future, including picking a true franchise QB candidate next spring. The often-injured Sammy Watkins was not part of their plans after this season, and Ron Darby was expendable.

They are not going to trade McCoy for anything less than multiple picks with at least one high rounder, or picks and quality players. You aren't going to get him for Stansly Maponga or Will Tye or both of them plus a 3rd day pick. Beckham, a 2nd rounder, and something else, maybe. And that would be mega-stupid for the G-men.

NO, NO, and FUCKING NO!!!
Glover : 8/19/2017 6:15 pm : link
Why is there this idea that the Giants need another RB? The success of the Giants run game will depend on whether the O line can create holes. Perk has already shown that he has burst, vision, and can run outside and inside. Why the fuck would the Giants give away compensation for any RB? I mean, if Barry Sanders in his prime was on the trade block, or Walter Payton, but aside from those guys, they are going to be just as good with Perk, Vereen, and Darkwa, while they develop Gallman. I want Perk to be Edgerrin James, on the field all the time, running the ball, catching passes, and blocking. They dont have to be as exclusive as Indy was with James, but thats the idea. I dont want any FB, and they can use Vereen on maybe 25% of the snaps, but I want Perk, Perk, and more Perk.
I would rather had Darby

McCoy?? Doctor Leonard McCoy??.

Where would we get the money to pay him?

The bills haven't been intelligent in over 15 years. Since when is sucking balls year after year smart? And they haven't drafted a franchise qb just yet....

Not that a trade for McCoy is remote possible but "maybe Beckham and more" ??? Maybe?? If the Giants offered just Beckham I think it's safe to say every single gm in NFL history trades back mccoy.

I have no idea what you are trying to say.
djm, in case you missed it - and you obviously did
Red Dog : 8/19/2017 10:29 pm : link
The Bills have entirely new management and coaching this season. And they aren't turkeys like Rex Ryan, Tom Donohoe, or some of the others that they've had in the past fifteen years.

They are clearly positioning themselves to draft their franchise QB THIS COMING spring. They currently have two firsts, two seconds, and two thirds to work with.

Good for them. I just have a hard time singing their praises. They have been acumulating draft picks for years. Wake me up when they win 10 games one year. One.

I know exactly what the bills are doing. And I know the ownership up there is questionable at best. And that's being friendly.
Dolphins have no quarterback?

Guess I m one of the few that thinks Cutler will do well there
I wouldn't trade for any RB

behind this OL. I think 80-90% of our running problems the last couple of years are due to terrible OL play.
He's still a very good RB
annexOPR : 8/20/2017 9:39 am : link
and his strength as a receiver / ability to create on his own would be a welcome addition

4th or lower I'd do it in a heartbeat

These are the staring or prominent rbs the Giants employed the last few years:

Andre Williams (unemployed)
Rashad Jennings (unemployed)
Shane vereen (missed 90% of 2016)
Paul Perkins (5th rookie in 2016 who couldn't practice early)
Darkwa
Bobby Rainey

You really think the rbs were only 10% of the problem???

It's both.

or Galman. I agree. You can't pass up on a star like Shady who still plays at a high level.
They have

a good OL they'll give for a 3rd(and a 7th?)?
If they are breaking up house for the future, OK.
I'd bring him here at once!
Fishmanjim57 : 8/22/2017 3:04 pm : link
He's better than any other RB on their current team.....and this offence absolutely sucks right now!
At this point, I don't see the logic in trading for any other position
Brown Recluse : 8/22/2017 3:08 pm : link
than the offensive line.

By far the weakest unit on the entire team and one of the most important.
