Cowboys-Colts

jeff57 : 8/19/2017 7:35 pm
Jaylon Smith looking good so far. As is Dallas. Or maybe it's just that the Colts are that bad.
The Colts are probably going to be horrible

It must be nice enjoying no contact 7-7.

I hope no Cowboys players get hurt because I would feel bad for the individual.

However, if a Cowboy player got hurt and we beat them I would feel just as good about the victory. I also do not feel any better about losses when we have injured players.
Scandrick
ChicagoMarty : 8/19/2017 8:12 pm : link
shaken up
Cousins
AcidTest : 8/19/2017 8:43 pm : link
just completed a nice pass up the sideline, but it was to Chris Thomson out of the backfield on a wheel route. But he's looked poor so far, and has been under a lot of pressure. They have no running game, and Rodgers has been going through them easily.

Somebody for GB just limped off.
I thought Dallas loomed decent
DavidinBMNY : 8/19/2017 9:00 pm : link
Alfred Morris is playing well. If Luck can't play, colts will be in trouble.
Cousins
AcidTest : 8/19/2017 9:09 pm : link
just lead a nice drive, including a TD pass on 4th down. He also had a gorgeous throw up the sideline for more than forty yards IIRC. Of course, I think he's now playing against the second string.

GB 14-10 just before half.
Jaylon smith has been getting good reviews all summer
djm : 8/19/2017 9:09 pm : link
That kind of worries me. I am happy for smith but not for Dallas one bit. He might pay off for them...
Jaylon Smith did not look good
Jimmy Googs : 8/19/2017 9:10 pm : link
They ran right at him and he was not effective. Also looked to be hobbling a bit from my view...
Have the cowturds had any injuries?

- Scandrick was concussed today.

- Tyron Smith has been battling a bad back all summer (continued from last year)

- Tyrone Crawford had a nasty ankle sprain a week ago (similar to Shepard). Not sure if he played tonight.

- Oh, and they have about 25 suspensions...
Smith
DavidinBMNY : 8/20/2017 9:45 am : link
I agree that he was off in this game. I'm happy for the kid he isnon the field and he will probably improve since he had.to be rusty after missing all of last year.

If Tyron Smith goes down for an extended period
Jay on the Island : 8/20/2017 5:14 pm : link
then they are in big trouble.

Yeah, they really struggled with their O-line all last night. Missing their top LT and top Rb and still ran for 160 yards with every backup RB going for 6+ yds/carry.

big trouble....

.
arcarsenal : 8/20/2017 5:22 pm : link
It's crazy - it seems like no matter how many injuries or suspensions there are, there's little visible difference in their play.

It's just pre-season, so it really doesn't say much. But even last year - going into the season it was a lot like this one in that they had a bunch of suspensions/injuries and it didn't seem to matter at all.

I think anyone writing Dallas off (and a lot of people here are doing it - I'm not building a straw man) and worrying more about the Eagles are probably fooling themselves.
Agree with arc. The Dallas O-lineman are just solid and well-coached
Jimmy Googs : 8/20/2017 5:31 pm : link
They do that one running play where no one is really blocking as much as their are moving laterally in cohesion with tight spacing, and they do it with some giddy-up' for 300+ guys.

Pick whatever RB - Zeke, McFadden, whomever...he justs follows along untouched for a bit since he is protected, and then either picks up his speed or plants his foot and makes a cut when he sees some space.

7+ yards every time...
Dallas will..
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/20/2017 5:33 pm : link
be competitive because they can run the ball.

But the warts on this team are significant:

- Elliott is out 6 games and is a clear upgrade over the other RB's
- Witten is a year older and is getting phased out, which...
-Hurts Dak as it takes away one of his safety valves
- The D has the potential to be one of the weakest in the league, especially if Sean Lee were to miss time
- The OL is not nearly the quality it was last year - still very good, but running will be a strength, so a dropff there trickles down to everything else
- Despite the numbers last year, Dak didn't have to win games. He didn't have to make the game-deciding plays. That usually catches up to guys in Year 2.

I don't see Dallas winning the division and frankly, I see them competing with probably Washington to stay out of last place.

They aren't a very good team and their coaching is middle of the pack, at best.
Well, the difference in winning the NFCE and last place
Jimmy Googs : 8/20/2017 5:44 pm : link
may very well be like 3 games so lets keep that in perspective...

I think Dallas will take a few steps back from a 13 win season but will still be good. They run the ball so well and still have some weapons. Dak will do some things worse for sure, and maybe do some things better too.

To me, I just don't know how you replace so much of your secondary with rookies and say "we will be fine". That is the difference in them coming back to earth...
The Cowboys offensive line has two big question marks
Jay on the Island : 8/20/2017 6:07 pm : link
They have Cooper at LG who has been a complete bust to date. Also they have moved Collins to RT where he reportedly has been struggling. If Smith is injured or Collins can't handle RT or has to move back to LG to replace Cooper then Byron Bell will be starting at RT. Their other OT is former Giant Emmett Cleary. The Cowboys offensive line depth is among the worst in football. If either Smith or Martin miss significant time then life is going to be very difficult for Prescott.

arcarsenal : 8/20/2017 6:19 pm : link
I would be willing to bet that Dallas wins 9-10 games this year.

Cowboys O-line depth is worst in football??

Okay, I am interested...where are the Giants on that list?
I thought Jaylon Smith actually did not look good
PatersonPlank : 8/20/2017 6:38 pm : link
Sure he made one tackle when they guy came right to him. However he seemed hesitant to plant and cut on that leg. He had RB's go around him a few times because of this.
Arc..

We will be playing the NFC and AFC West's. I think the Giants will win the division, and 10 wins might do it.

I think you will see a logjam of the other teams in our division between 6-9 wins
.
arcarsenal : 8/20/2017 7:02 pm : link
I guess we'll see.

I think the Giants will win 10-11 games - I think Dallas and Philadelphia will both be right on our ass. The Redskins will probably win 6-7 games.
Shocking
Jimmy Googs : 8/20/2017 7:26 pm : link
The winner of the NFCE will be around 10 wins

The bottom of the NFCE will be around 6-7 wins.

Or around 3-4 wins apart...

probably the greatest O-Line depth in league history.
