...Ereck Flowers goes down (that's not wishful thinking), what's the Giants move:
(1) Slide Justin Pugh over to LT and plug in Adam Gettis (or someone else) at LG?
(2) Leave Pugh at LG and put the next man up at LT (Chad Wheeler), or someone else?
(3) Some other re-arrangement of Giants line, such as...?
Interested in viewpoint of BBIers. Thanks in advance!
Then if that guy blows up ( Wheeler-whoever), Pugh moves out . They worry about these scenarios all the time . As far as judging the depth players from pre-season games alone, pretty much everybody in the league is in the same boat. Because of lack of reps and continuity , the second units usually look like shit and the threes look like longshoreman and warehouse workers.
Pugh goes to LT. Jones or Gettis or Fluker to LG.
IMHO
Which is the same story around the league. You think Seattle has a LT that was just sitting on the bench waiting for their chance?
personally, I'd rather see Wheeler make it
undrafted. OLT is a positon so nuanced and demanding that all pros like Smith and Orlando Pace spent their first year at guard or ORT.
This kid may never be ready, but he's sure not ready now.
Not an option.
I like Wheeler and his long term potential if he puts his best foot forward...but I can't imagine he will be ready this year. But lets see how he responds in these next 3 preseason games...because week 1 for him was very rough
Could it be, that contrary to the experts at BBI, that they just do not see a solid, NFL LT there?
Look, we lose two starters this year we are screwed. Jerry is the least valuable due to depth. Pugh next in the sense that Fluker can at least start RG and Jerry LG admirably, a bit below average but serviceable veterans.
By all accounts, Gettis has acquitted himself well this summer, and left guard is his natural position.
I guess you could move Jerry to LG, but there isn't much reason to believe Jerry+Fluker > Gettis+Jerry, and that option disrupts three positions for little clear benefit.
...oh, wait, shit

Orlando Pace never played guard or RT to start; he began his career right at LT. Why do you continue to just make stuff up when the information is readily available to you (and anyone else)?
Tell us all again about being incompetent.

of time and were toast . Brutal schedule the wins are not
going to come easy and we need to win the division .
They will make the roster (if they do) based on future potential, but we shouldn't expect them to take snaps and if they do, we should expect the results to be bad.
