NFT: NFT: FIOS Routers

I was totally frustrated doing the online chat with Frontier today and finally gave up but I figured I would ask the opinion of tech guys/gals on here. I have an older Actiontec MI424 WR Version D router for my FIOS TV/Internet. My wife is constantly complaining about the speed and connectivity. We run two laptops, a tablet, multiple cell phones as well as a smart tv on the wifi. Is it worth getting the G1100 Gateway. After reading a little today, I think the G1100 is worth the $110.00 I can purchase one for on Amazon.
see if u can buy

Any tips before I call Fios to get the best pricing?
why not just by the Verizon FIOS Quantum Gateway

for less? and then spend what you indicated on a wifi extender to go with it.
Don't know about all the models and all

But we upgraded our Fios router to an Asus TM AC1900 from tmobile (because they had a $50 special, wasn't a tmobile customer). I still need to pass through the old one, or whatever it's called, and needed to call and get Fios to run off USB vs. Coax and we couldn't be happier. Took some troubleshooting. The old one sucked before and needed a reboot like once a week. Now it's faster, better signal and never loses connection.

Basically just chiming in to say yes to upgrade and tell my story incase anything helps.

If you're happy with the actiontec, it probably just means you have ideal circumstances. Ours is in the basement of a 3 story townhouse and the upgrade saved me the process of drilling through the floor, putting a router in the kitchen (middle floor) and having a wire running up the wall in the basement. I tried numerous repeaters and extenders with no luck and just rebooted more. Best $50 I've spent and I'd have paid the full $150 if I knew how much better things would be.

Good luck man!

Do you mean Ethernet?

I'm about to do the same thing, actually, but will go with a mesh system.
