NFT: EPL: Manchester City v Everton

Gene : 8/21/2017 3:09 pm
A little Monday afternoon action over on NBCSN.

Rooney starting for Everton. Aguero & Jesus both starting up front for City.

Who do you like?
Should be solid match
Cenotaph : 8/21/2017 3:16 pm : link
I think City takes it - lot of spending adding to what was an already stocked attack, and they shored up the FBs while getting Kompany back at CB (for now at least). Man U has come out of the gates flying, and Che cam back to top Tot this week despite a disappointing 1st game. That's my top 4 right now, Arsenal, Liverpool & Everton following with the rest split between likely safe and relegation battlers.
Best part was the pregame
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 8/21/2017 3:29 pm : link
when Wenger said he was worried about his defense. WHAT? How many top CBs have you acquired in the last decade?! He's ignored the position for more than 10 years!
ROONEY!

The ex-MUFC player sticks a thumb in City's eye with a 35' goal. His 200th! 1-0 Everton.
Rooney

scores his 200th goal, less than a minute after Silva hits the post for MC. MC has been applying a lot of pressure, but had a bad turnover along the sideline that lead to Rooney's goal.
Wow.
Gene : 8/21/2017 3:47 pm : link
Kyle Walker picks up two yellow cards in as many minutes and is sent off. That second was a head scratcher of a call.

with a pretty big mountain to climb.
This referee is a fucking disaster
B in ALB : 8/21/2017 3:51 pm : link
He's clearly lost his fookin mind.
Walker didn't even touch Baines on the first yellow
B in ALB : 8/21/2017 3:53 pm : link
Didn't even touch him.

Then the second yellow was barely a foul. What the fuck is going on?
If you're going to give a 2nd yellow
Kyle in NY : 8/21/2017 3:54 pm : link
it better be worth it. That was not even close
One piece of Sterling,
Gene : 8/21/2017 4:34 pm : link
two pieces of Silva, Jesus.......I never realized City was so biblical.

Sterling in the 82' knots the game at 1-1. City pouring it on. Which team is playing with 10 guys?
MC
AcidTest : 8/21/2017 4:48 pm : link
is down a man, and they are clearly outplaying Everton. They are putting on all the pressure. Everton gets nothing except on counterattacks, and basically gave that goal to Sterling with a rotten clearance.

Now a red card for Everton.
Leighton Baines
B in ALB : 8/21/2017 5:03 pm : link
Is a Fucking bitch diving like that against Walker. And the ref is a dumb fuck for falling for it.

This shit bird announcer is sucking Everton cock. For what? Parking the bus and being a man up the whole match? Guy has it in for City.
Aguero dove too

The it was contact there. And it was at the end of the game. Are you really comparing the two?
And by the way,
B in ALB : 8/21/2017 5:25 pm : link
look at Stones' positioning on the Everton goal. Pathetic. He continues to be awful. He makes Otamendi look good. They need to sign somebody. Mendy, Marquinhos, someone else. Stones sucks. And i'm sure Kompany will get hurt at some point.

Nah. But to complain about diving and dirty play while rooting for Aguero is slightly rich. It'd be like me complaining about it after rooting for Diego Costa the last three seasons.

Know what I mean pal? All good though. Impressive second half effort with 10 men from your guys

I'm not contending that Kun doesn't dive or "fall down" from time to time trying to sell the ref. Have fun naming players from South and Central America who DON'T pull that bullshit.

But that shit from Baines was straight bullshit. And it led directly to having City down to 10 early on. Despite that, they dominated play and should have won the game.
BTW, Kyle

my 15 year old made the V today. He's fuckin psyched.
It was a brutal red card, no doubt
Kyle in NY : 8/21/2017 7:32 pm : link
Chelsea I thought was on the wrong end of a pair of those in week 1 too. At least you fought back for a point

That is fantastic news by the way! Although I can't say I'm surprised, based on all I've heard from you. I bet he's got the inside track on a starting spot too. Best wishes to you guys.

He won't start at DE or LT bc they have a couple upper classmen with experience. He's a baby. But physically he's right there. Raw. But he'll definitely play. It's all good. He'll get much better playing against kids 2-3 years older. I'm really really proud of him. I'm through the roof for the kid. He worked extremely hard and performed.
That's awesome, congrats

John Stones has quickly replaced James Milner and Leighton Baines as my poster child for overhyped, overpaid English players.
There were rumors last spring
moespree : 8/22/2017 12:10 am : link
That Pep was thinking about moving Stones to a defensive midfielder position. I don't know if that would work but he fucking sucks where he is now. He's no anchor on defense at all. He has zero strength and gets thrown off the ball with ease and his positioning is utter shit. It's as if he's trying on purpose to take the wrong angle on literally every chance. Man City is not going to win the title with this defense. Man United will carve the shit out of them and Mourinho will enjoy doing it.
