And don't give me that "it's only preseason" shit. The offensive line is garbage and has been going on 6 years. Fucking garbage and that's why we won't do shit this year.

yeah I had a pissing match with another poster one week ago today after I was saying basically the same thing that you did above. Apparently, I dont know what pre-season is all about.... because it is ok to get physically beaten by the man in front of you in pre-season and that it will turn on for you like a light bulb once the regular season starts.
When the only real additions were Fluker who seems destined to be a backup and a couple of late round/FA pick ups? We can rationalize that Ellison will help and better weapons will help but we need to be able to run the ball.

Yeah, well I've been fighting that fight since 2012. Glad to see people are coming around.
The decline of the Giants is directly correlated to the decline of the offensive line since 2012.
how long our oline has been broken and the foolish attempts to resolve the issue. embarrassing that we have all this firepower now and we have these guys blocking. They better grow a pair fast our offense will not be effective at all.
but I do not understand how anyone in the front office thought it was feasible to be a championship team with this O-line going into this season. How could they not make any adjustments?
He did exactly what he should do, just like Beckham did last preseason when everyone freaked out about him pulling up to not get hit in game that doesn't matter.
Starting to feel like the OL is going to wreck this entire season. Looks like a carbon copy of last year. Really bad.
. Um, exact same guys. And none of them had to compete for their jobs. Is this really surprising?
Well, obviously they're hoping for improvement with some guys - Richburg was hurt last year, Pugh missed a few games. So, no, I don't think it's necessarily surprising.

If you do not play all out might there be more of a chance of injury. He looked awkward spinning after he gave up on that ball. if you suit up go for the catch. I am not saying risk life and limb but he should have caught it
Last preseason and the preseason before that where the offense was completely inept in the preseason. Last year, it carried into the season. The year before that they were able to right the ship. Keep the fingers crossed.

He did go all out running for it and decided stretching out wasn't worth it. Again, it happened last year to Beckham and BBI was up in arms about him doing it.
Marshall has been around the block, he made a smart decision.
Starting to feel like the OL is going to wreck this entire season. Looks like a carbon copy of last year. Really bad.
Starting to feel it?
They're going nowhere with this crew upfront. Where is the foundational player? Players? There are none to be found. Significant resources are going to be have to be poured into this unit. Time is running out on Eli. It's a fucking disgrace this FO has sattled him with shit up front for over 5 years now (and counting).

Same shitty McAdoo offense.

And the same shitty Reese offensive line. bullshit. smh. This team will go no where like this.
Yeah, they can't possibly make the playoffs.......
think if the OL continues to play this way, Reese will do something. Even an average OL would make us legitimate SB contenders with our D, weapons, and Eli. In the short run, I'd like to see more of Gettis and Halapio.

Do what exactly? Draft and free agency are over and no team is trading a quality OL during the season.
That's all I am saying. it does not matter what the play calling is. When you are lined up against one guy in front of you and he is tossing you around at will... then you have serious problems.

Maybe a vet OL. I agree there is no magic solution.
HOLY!!!!! I wanted to give this guy a chance too, the truth is he just is not good as being a LT, lets salvage what we can and move him to a mauling guard. He/one of our other shitty linemen is going to get Eli killed.
Hopefully the offense jells as the season progresses. Defense will have to carry the load again in the early going. Offensive line looks about the same as last year - not good.

Flowers has not been the issue tonight, he's actually done well. The right side has been horrible.
it will change when the season starts. It hasn't the last two or three years and it won't change. We just cannot rebuild the offensive line, I have been supportive of Reese as many of the individual decisions have not really seemed like good chances to upgrade, but the inability to fix the oline year after year is just getting tiresome.
That is his patented choke hold, but BBI told me that he has improved his technique. Perhaps, he is able to disguise it better? That would be an improvement.
but our starting offense has not done anything. If I recall correctly, last pre-season our starting offense did not do well vs the opponents starters either. Can someone fact check that? We ended up near the bottom of the league in total offense.
Mixing guys in coverage in preseason...guys will get cut for not covering...it's always fluid...the OL is the OL. It's a proven commodity. Unfortunately
But the way we play lately stays the same. O-line can't create any running room, we NEVER seem to have any running room on punt returns and there isn't any flow to our offense.
seems to be positive about his play so far. Maybe I am just bias. But the Flowers defenders really bother me. Guy isn't cut out to be an NFL tackle. Let's see if we can smarten up and move him quickly.

Our starters haven't played well in the preseason in about three or four years and the results have been very similar in the regular season (unless, of course, we play the saints).

Even in the years when the offense has been good, there's been very rough pre-seasons.
I'm not going to say watching the OL suck ass isn't disheartening, but... it's still just pre-season. The light switch does sometimes just go on when real football starts.

Gruden even showed all of his blocks so far. He was close to a hold on one or two, but no one got to Eli and sometimes he stood them straight up.
when did NFL coverage start mimicking WWF. I'm half expecting someone to come hit Beckham in the back with a chair and start stomping on the injured knee.
yeah and you are spot on if he has a serious injury. Based upon what we see from the O-line and the running game, remove OBJ and we seriously are done.

Definitely not hyper extended tho. You don't generally collapse like that after in hallway unless you tried cutting which is my real fear a la jake Ballard
Second, the hit was legal.
Third, if we are going to falsely blame anyone, blame the Giants offense for not showing the coaches anything that we had to keep them on in the second quarter.
The last guy, despite his bad history, I am going to blame is Gregg Williams
That fucking asshole TOTALLY went for OBjr's fucking knees.
Everyone complains about the OL but nobody on this offense makes any plays except for Beckham, who was just fucking cheap shotted and is now probably got a nice fucking injury to deal with.

Exactly! fuckin Mcadoo's offense is bullshit! Give The Patriots our weapons, and they would win every super bowl!
Do you serially have a problem with coaching? First TC, not Mac. And always with a completely moronic take.
when he tore his ACL in minicamp. Many players look like there knee is finished and come back in that game (Maclin in playoffs versus NE two seasons ago). All this is rank speculation
Fuck the fucking preseason. I can honestly say I don't think I've ever enjoyed watching a preseason game. This is just another example on so many levels.
I have watched him closely every play.He could be called for holding on just about every passing down. He is just too slow out of his stance for speed rushers. I don't know who Jerry Reese&Co. are trying to prove.
to me. OBJ doesn't like to get hit. He's smart like that. But flukes do happen. It's an emotional year for him with big money on the line and a lot of hard work. Screw the preason.
it's entirely possible he overreacted out of fear of serious injury...fingers crossed
And for those who don't want to blame Gregg Williams, we'll agree to disagree. The hit may not have been illegal, but going low on a receiver like that is a dangerous play.
He has a history of encouraging his players to hit like that. At the least, I'm quite sure he's never told his players not to chop a receivers legs with a dangerous tackle
I have watched him closely every play.He could be called for holding on just about every passing down. He is just too slow out of his stance for speed rushers. I don't know who Jerry Reese&Co. are trying to prove.
I think that can be said about most tackles on every play
I have watched him closely every play.He could be called for holding on just about every passing down. He is just too slow out of his stance for speed rushers. I don't know who Jerry Reese&Co. are trying to prove.
Agreed. Flowers can't handle any kind of speed rusher. Lots of horse collars.
It's basically the same shitty offense McCarthy has in Green Bay...we don't have Rodgers who regularly makes gold out of shit. Every single writer I've read about the NFL from hardened hack to ex-player has nothing good to say about McCarthy's system.
Some of the pass blocking was better on that drive.
Engram missed the protection adjustment on the negative run play - rookie mistake. Not the OL.
I watched that play three times. Not sure why Gruden called out Engram. Even though he missed the blitz read his man did not make the play. One of the O-linemen got pushed three yards into the backfield and his man made the tackle
Some of you guys keep blaming things like scheme and play calls. These are individual player mistakes - not schematic issues. How many fucking times are you going to blame Ben McAdoo for things like a player getting stripped, dropping a pass, or missing a protection change?
This is practice. Give the guy a break. They're working on some plays. That's all they're doing out there.
They're getting Engram involved. Working on a few plays to Shepard. This is practice.
i wouldn't say it's practice but you're pretty much correct. It's misguided at best to blame McAdoo for this. They don't game plan and they limit creativity on offense for these games.
has been horse collaring anyone who comes around the edge to prevent them from hitting Eli. I'm surprised he hasn't been called for holding. They're really blatant.
It won't happen but I'd be curious as to how this line would look with Pugh back at RT and Fluker at RG. I'm not sure who I'd put at LG, but.. just spitballing.
Giants D. Our entire first string O looking like a crap. I'm tired of hearing from our OL coaches and players how they are improving. My eyes don't lie.
No more than 2 weeks ago, probably less.. every single OL conversation revolved around Flowers. Now our biggest worry seems to be the right side. Not Flowers.
Why the fuck were you motivated to bring politics to the game thread, jackass?
I owe you an apology for my comment here, my bad, didn't realize some of you were watching on another channel that cut to the potus address. I'm wound up watching the Giants play like shit and OBJ maybe being injured, overreacted to the hint of political angst being added to the mix
has been horse collaring anyone who comes around the edge to prevent them from hitting Eli. I'm surprised he hasn't been called for holding. They're really blatant.
Exactly. He has improved his technique by bringing the choke-hold closer to his body disguising it. The refs probably don't want to stay in Cleveland any longer than they have to. If they called holding on Flowers as often his arm wraps around the opponent's neck, the game would last past midnight.
has been horse collaring anyone who comes around the edge to prevent them from hitting Eli. I'm surprised he hasn't been called for holding. They're really blatant.
Agree. I have not seen much to be encouraged about. He's just not getting better. The same can be said for the whole OL.
No more than 2 weeks ago, probably less.. every single OL conversation revolved around Flowers. Now our biggest worry seems to be the right side. Not Flowers.
Are you saying you think Flowers did well or Hart etc was just so awful and worse, it took the attention off of how bad Flowers was for once? I was way too busy fearing for Eli's life and safety.
No more than 2 weeks ago, probably less.. every single OL conversation revolved around Flowers. Now our biggest worry seems to be the right side. Not Flowers.
You're actually encouraged by what Flowers is doing tonight? He should have been called for like 4 holds.

To be fair that technique is called a Tyron Smith. Much of how a OL is called is based on the reputation of the olineman.
As for Beckham he is such a phony fucker it makes me sick. Whether he is hurt badly or not, his dramatics are an embarrassment. He is Jeremy Shockey part two. Just a complete moron who has let success got to his head. That meaningless one handed grab has come back to haunt this franchise. It created a moronic monster.
Constantly horse collared Garrett on passing downs. Even though it hasn't been called(incredible that is hasn't)it has caused instant pressure on the qb. As for Hart, he's been worse. No way Hart,at this time,is a starter in the NFL. The weakest part of the team last year was the o-line and Reese did little to nothing to improve it. Flowers looks too slow to me to play tackle but maybe he would be better on the right side? This team NEVER really looks good in the preseason. They always look the same.
They are probably better pass protect then the run. The real problem to me right now is the offensive schemes and play calls. imo its awful. It has been since Mcadoo took over. Sullivan is a joke, he was awful in Tampa Bay and continues to be. 32nd in the league lol. Bottom line is this offense is just bad. The 1st team would not have been out there this long if they didn perform so poorly. period.
He keeps his man away from the QB, blocks the run, and now you complain about how he looks doing it. If he plays like this, continuing without penalties, he will be fine. Its Hart and Jerry who suck.
as far as I could tell. The stunt sack was all on Jerry.
Hart was also officially clean in pass protection last week against Pitt.
And he showed some athleticism getting out to block for an OBJ screen.
The run plays are sometimes hard to be sure about responsibility. If that Perkins' loss was supposed to hit quicker to the inside, then Hart's giving ground to Nassib and directing him outside would have been acceptable. The OT doesn't have eyes in the back of his head.
He is in the backfield an awful lot. No Pocket for Eli to step up into. I think the interior 3 of Jerry, Pugh and Richburg are more of a problem than the 2 tackles. Fluker for Newhouse is not upgrading the OL if you don't play fluker.
and 5 guys could not give Smith a clean pocket.....pressure came over center.....
Watching this line, why did we hire Solari? Guy will not get a free pass this season.....
Giant QB's do not have a pocket to throw from......
And I am getting a little concerned with SS.....he is not doing the little things....I had great expectations for him this year......is it me or is he slow? The quickness is just not there....
He is in the backfield an awful lot. No Pocket for Eli to step up into. I think the interior 3 of Jerry, Pugh and Richburg are more of a problem than the 2 tackles. Fluker for Newhouse is not upgrading the OL if you don't play fluker.
That's saying something, because the two tackles are horrific.
A savier defense would have been working the refs against Flowers. Hard to take anyone seriously if you're not concerned with his choke move on every outside rush.
JR has tried, and he's not done well in talent at the top or the mid rounds with offensive lineman.
to score a TD in pre-season. We haven't scored even 1 yet. Oline is abysmal. Does Solari have some magic up his sleeves? We have to at least have a semblance of a running game. Interior right side not getting any push whatsoever. I'm not sure Fluker is the answer there either. Ugh!
He keeps his man away from the QB, blocks the run, and now you complain about how he looks doing it. If he plays like this, continuing without penalties, he will be fine. Its Hart and Jerry who suck.
The distinction is without penalties. He should have been called. We would be crying foul if it was Vernon or JPP on the receiving end of choke-holds.
How about we pay them 7 million a year if they can play for any other team in our division! And they are our all star lineman!
We've had shitty OL's with them. We can continue to trot out horseshit units without them. Other teams can rebuild OL's in short order. The NYG can't, apparently. 2010 was 7 years ago.
As for Beckham he is such a phony fucker it makes me sick. Whether he is hurt badly or not, his dramatics are an embarrassment. He is Jeremy Shockey part two. Just a complete moron who has let success got to his head.
I was wondering which moron was going to be the first to have this take.

How the hell can you guys even see what the hell happened on each play? Before Eli even got the ball snapped to him, he has a DE already in his lap. Do you go back and watch each play? The defense gets to him way too quickly.
When has Beckham ever gotten "into it" with a teammate?
makes sense. They just don't know how to play well individually or together. And it's not like they don't play together a fair amount so cannot blame lack of continuity.
Awful to say but you gotta kind of blow this line up and start over at least 3 positions...
To chill out. If I listened to you guys shepherd would have his leg amputated, Beckham would have torn all the ligaments in his knee, and the giants would be on their way to 0-16. We are a veteran team. I wouldn't read too much into t he preseason. If we were a young team it would be different.

+1,000. So much belly aching on BBI about pre season.
The biggest concern is the injuries. I don't want to see OBJ or Marshall until Dallas.
Better insight on actual football than we're getting from Gruden and McDonough. He's a rookie at it, so he doesn't know the analyst guy is just supposed to babble about nothing.
That kick didn't have much height. It was good but it wasn't pretty.
Bisnowaty having a rough time. Wheeler looking good and stout on the other side. He sets up quickly and actually looks like a left tackle. He may have more upside then the two guys starting, unfortunately.
There's a pretty disturbing amount of plain disruption allowed by every level of offensive lineman.
At some point does Macadoo abandon some of the schematic principles? Basically every player over 2 line coaches has had spells of awful over the last 4 years.
Someone in the organization is seriously overly confident in our OL
After tonight I have zero clue as to how they can justify their faith. The heat should be high and hot on him or all of them - frankly Hart and Jerry should not start in the NFL - flowers is proving to the world he is not a LT - this has to Be his last chance before he is moved - Eli and the skill guys/coaches should be more upset than we are -
But Cleveland OL is considered decent...and also looked like shit......maybe just maybe....the front 7 defenses might just be developing better players
If Perkins manages to retain the starting job, it will be in name only. The decisiveness of Gallman and Darkwa are what this ground game needs. Gallman fits this offense
He's actually getting room to run but he's elusive and decisive. Even against PIT when there wasn't much room, he seemed to be able to squeeze a little bit of a positive out of plays that could have been negatives.
7 quarters and offensive anemia evidenced by an offensive output of 6 FGs. Sorry to say this, but McAdoo's offensive play calling is boring and unsuccessful.

Exactly what name? Perkins? Is he a famous guy or something I'm missing? If he retains teh starting job it is because he's getting stuffed by starters, not running wild on guys who are out oft he league in two weeks.
Who actually believe Geno or Johnson could win a few games if Eli went down. They both suck -- if the Giants cut them they won't get picked up by another team.
It might be another season where -- in order to win -- the Giants D needs to outscore the other team's offense (and defensive steals from Giants O). A
I knows it's preseason, but 9 points per game reminds me of last preseason. Then it was a harbinger of a pathetic offensive performance for 2016. I hope this is not indicative of offensive weakness this year.
I forsee alot of no huddle once the season starts. Jerry is our worrst starter on offense he needs to be replaced asap. Gallman showed signs of life but had a fumble and a drop. Hope Webb gets a series here.

Weird comment.
Are you unfamiliar with the phrase in name only? Meaning he might be the starter, but the other RBs will see plenty of carries. Essentially running back by committee. If Darkwa can stay healthy, he can get much of the short yardage and redzone carries.

nothing good happens when he is in the game. Looked like he put it into the underside of the shoulder pad. Gallmen wasn't a fumbler in college. Maybe the second there was a qb change, gallmen f'ed up. maybe they don't have rhythm together. But the guy has no chance of doing anything positive. Rather see someone who has a chance to move the team forward.
You never want to overreact to pre-season, but aside from the starting D, this team just looked terrible in basically every respect. Just totally disappointing.
He may be a good head coach but his offense is the pits. He needs to hire an offensive coordinator with imagination and isn't afraid to throw the long ball. This offense is disgusting. The philosophy is mind numbing. They have receivers out the wahzoo and he can't figure out how to get to them.

Absolutely correct. Maybe one pass over 20 yards even attempted. Passes of 0-5 yards seems the norm. If we didn't have Spags, the Giants would be lucky to go 5-11; McAdoo renders his 'weapons' on offense irrelevant.
I know these games don't mean crap but we all said that about our offense last year and it was the same thing for our offense in the real games as the fake ones. I am a bit alarmed.
Interesting on the last couple of possessions that Wheeler was a right tackle. Wheeler NEVER played any right tackle at USC. Could be something to look for again.

This is so right...all of these WRs, and it seems like it's impossible to get them the ball. You see other teams flinging it around from lesser QBs to lesser WRs. This is the offense that GB ran, but I feel like GB throws the ball down field more (yeah, I know the O-line sucks) and is at least more creative with getting the ball to WRs.

That's nuts. Both of these clowns play like every snap is their first NFL snap ever.
Smart. No need to risk anything.

Yeah, well I've been fighting that fight since 2012. Glad to see people are coming around.
The decline of the Giants is directly correlated to the decline of the offensive line since 2012.
Well... it is a carbon copy because it is the same group of guys.
Original thought.
what a shit show up front.
You think it's because they went three and out?
He did exactly what he should do, just like Beckham did last preseason when everyone freaked out about him pulling up to not get hit in game that doesn't matter.
Quote:
Starting to feel like the OL is going to wreck this entire season. Looks like a carbon copy of last year. Really bad.
. Um, exact same guys. And none of them had to compete for their jobs. Is this really surprising?
Well, obviously they're hoping for improvement with some guys - Richburg was hurt last year, Pugh missed a few games. So, no, I don't think it's necessarily surprising.
How bout this offense huh!
Yea the offense is about as bland as one can be.
Reese can be stubborn.

If you do not play all out might there be more of a chance of injury. He looked awkward spinning after he gave up on that ball. if you suit up go for the catch. I am not saying risk life and limb but he should have caught it
I'll chalk it up to preseason. Why risk it for no reason?
Careful you may be chased off this board for that kind of comment
Yup, Elis throws look sharp so far. Let's get him out of there soon
Beckham did the same thing two years ago.

Offensive formations same as last season, and telegraphing pass/run plays. Giants need to abandon their obsession with the shotgun.

To be fair, they're probably not going to show much other than the occasional fb+rb set and the occasional two te set.

It only looks bland when you cannot execute simple plays
Gotta think he realized it was a pre-season game.

He did go all out running for it and decided stretching out wasn't worth it. Again, it happened last year to Beckham and BBI was up in arms about him doing it.
Marshall has been around the block, he made a smart decision.
I don't think that was that, that was a garden variety pre-season business decision.

What kind of offense is a team supposed to run efficiently when they can't run the football or pass block?
It's embarrassing.

And the same shitty Reese offensive line. bullshit. smh. This team will go no where like this.
Yeah, they can't possibly make the playoffs.......

I'm just saying, Coughlin did had the same guys or less in 2014 and 2015 with better results.
Yup.thats the real problem
But they should at least be able to block.
Heard and read the same shit last August.
Do what exactly? Draft and free agency are over and no team is trading a quality OL during the season.
Of course defenses will load up to stop it, unless we can prove just a little ability to run the ball
Quote:
The tackles are not that big of an issue.
Agreed. I'm not a John Jerry fan. He's a huge liability in the run game and not nearly the level of pass blocker that you could overlook the fact.
Couldn't agree more. Jerry's play gets lost in all the Flower's crap.
That's all I am saying. it does not matter what the play calling is. When you are lined up against one guy in front of you and he is tossing you around at will... then you have serious problems.
Do what exactly? Draft and free agency are over and no team is trading a quality OL during the season.
Is the headlock part of the technique he's been working on? Seems to have that one down.
Quote:
think if the OL continues to play this way, Reese will do something. Even an average OL would make us legitimate SB contenders with our D, weapons, and Eli. In the short run, I'd like to see more of Gettis and Halapio.

Maybe a vet OL. I agree there is no magic solution.
Yes, which is important to keep in mind if you're going to complain about play calls.
Execution is different.
run
True, unfortunately.
yeah Perkins is getting hit three yards into the backfield way too often.
Worst
Also crazy we won a super bowl with last rated rushing attack.
Nice punt coverage
Flowers has not been the issue tonight, he's actually done well. The right side has been horrible.
Worst
Who needs a running game.
Quote:
Hart and Jerry, especially Jerry, needs to be replaced
. Been saying it about Jerry. He's terrible.
Jerry sucks! Jerry and Rickburg together is a guantee run blocking disaster.
Nice play by Jordan Williams.
Deayon buried.
That is his patented choke hold, but BBI told me that he has improved his technique. Perhaps, he is able to disguise it better? That would be an improvement.
Are we positive or negative rushing yards tonight?
Mixing guys in coverage in preseason...guys will get cut for not covering...it's always fluid...the OL is the OL. It's a proven commodity. Unfortunately
Our starters haven't played well in the preseason in about three or four years and the results have been very similar in the regular season (unless, of course, we play the saints).
to cut down on fumbles
Even in the years when the offense has been good, there's been very rough pre-seasons.
I'm not going to say watching the OL suck ass isn't disheartening, but... it's still just pre-season. The light switch does sometimes just go on when real football starts.

Gruden even showed all of his blocks so far. He was close to a hold on one or two, but no one got to Eli and sometimes he stood them straight up.
Still hope it is OK.
Do you really think Greg Williams told them to do that? really?
Beckham looks like he's in real pain.

He's gonna be hurting in the morning.
Schobert got a hand on 3rd down pass
yeah and you are spot on if he has a serious injury. Based upon what we see from the O-line and the running game, remove OBJ and we seriously are done.

Wouldn't surprise me,
Can we wait a little bit?
Didn't look like he had his knee planted. Hopefully its nothing.
Third, if we are going to falsely blame anyone, blame the Giants offense for not showing the coaches anything that we had to keep them on in the second quarter.
The last guy, despite his bad history, I am going to blame is Gregg Williams
Everyone complains about the OL but nobody on this offense makes any plays except for Beckham, who was just fucking cheap shotted and is now probably got a nice fucking injury to deal with.
You must be looking at the OL?

Exactly! fuckin Mcadoo's offense is bullshit! Give The Patriots our weapons, and they would win every super bowl!
Do you serially have a problem with coaching? First TC, not Mac. And always with a completely moronic take.
Eli looks awful; OBJ: cleat in ground on the knee hit=not a good thing.
If it's an ankle hopefully it's not a high ankle strain

I'd keep the OL in too. They need to figure this out. If they get hurt the backups couldn't be much worse anyway.
Thanks Doctor
And for those who don't want to blame Gregg Williams, we'll agree to disagree. The hit may not have been illegal, but going low on a receiver like that is a dangerous play.
He has a history of encouraging his players to hit like that. At the least, I'm quite sure he's never told his players not to chop a receivers legs with a dangerous tackle
I think that can be said about most tackles on every play
Agreed. Flowers can't handle any kind of speed rusher. Lots of horse collars.
This is the only way they're going to get better. Flowers is doing some good work right now.
But then again, last year on the MNF Vikings game, he spent the whole game telling us how we serially overpaid for the defense.
this OL can't do shit. and as a result, no run game. no time for Eli.
mind boggling that the only moves made were DJ Fluker and a 5th round draft pick.
Keep o line in
Landon Collins one last play to spear Gregg Williams
Engram missed the protection adjustment on the negative run play - rookie mistake. Not the OL.
You keep blaming McAdoo for things that have nothing to do with McAdoo.

Engram missed the protection adjustment on the negative run play - rookie mistake. Not the OL.
He was hit by Hart's guy not Engram's. Hart has not played well tonight.
He doesn't choose which OL are on the team.
He doesn't suck. He just isn't elusive. That's not his game which is why bubble screens thrown to him probably won't be very effective.
Engram missed the protection adjustment on the negative run play - rookie mistake. Not the OL.
The guy he didn't block didn't even make the play. The right side of the OK got blown up.
It's basically the same shitty offense McCarthy has in Green Bay...we don't have Rodgers who regularly makes gold out of shit. Every single writer I've read about the NFL from hardened hack to ex-player has nothing good to say about McCarthy's system.
Can't scheme if your OL couldn't block Alabama.
Engram missed the protection adjustment on the negative run play - rookie mistake. Not the OL.
They're getting Engram involved. Working on a few plays to Shepard. This is practice.
I still don't know what any of that has to do with the fucking coach.
Pass protection at least, Flowers hasn't been the issue. The right side (whether that's Hart. Jerry. Or a combination) has been poor.
I've seen some good and bad from the OL. Just need to be more consistent and cut out the negative plays.

I owe you an apology for my comment here, my bad, didn't realize some of you were watching on another channel that cut to the potus address. I'm wound up watching the Giants play like shit and OBJ maybe being injured, overreacted to the hint of political angst being added to the mix
I'm not too worried about it until regular season.
oh yeah, and we can't score TD's
good stuff.
Exactly. He has improved his technique by bringing the choke-hold closer to his body disguising it. The refs probably don't want to stay in Cleveland any longer than they have to. If they called holding on Flowers as often his arm wraps around the opponent's neck, the game would last past midnight.
If they cannot pass protect or run block the season will become a disaster in short form.
Can't entirely blame Reese either. Didn't overpay for very marginal OL talent in the FA pool and didnt overdraft any linemen.
Agree. I have not seen much to be encouraged about. He's just not getting better. The same can be said for the whole OL.

Struggles aren't ideal, but by now, Giant fans should know better than to panic over the pre-season.

To be fair that technique is called a Tyron Smith. Much of how a OL is called is based on the reputation of the olineman.
If you call being pushed 10 yards into the backfield "his job", then I guess he succeeded.

I thought his block was fine on that play, his man would have been out of the play had Geno stepped up in the pocket
For a seventh round pick, not bad.
Engram missed the protection adjustment on the negative run play - rookie mistake. Not the OL.
Engram missed the audible, but it wasn't his guy who made the negative play, that was either Jerry or Hart
That's saying something, because the two tackles are horrific.
JR has tried, and he's not done well in talent at the top or the mid rounds with offensive lineman.
The distinction is without penalties. He should have been called. We would be crying foul if it was Vernon or JPP on the receiving end of choke-holds.
We've had shitty OL's with them. We can continue to trot out horseshit units without them. Other teams can rebuild OL's in short order. The NYG can't, apparently. 2010 was 7 years ago.

Giants injury fever...catch it
But he has long hair, he has to be good
Bisnowaty having a rough time. Wheeler looking good and stout on the other side. He sets up quickly and actually looks like a left tackle. He may have more upside then the two guys starting, unfortunately.
But holy shit you have to be concerned with what we have seen with this O-Line It is atrocious across the board
At some point does Macadoo abandon some of the schematic principles? Basically every player over 2 line coaches has had spells of awful over the last 4 years.

After tonight I have zero clue as to how they can justify their faith. The heat should be high and hot on him or all of them - frankly Hart and Jerry should not start in the NFL - flowers is proving to the world he is not a LT - this has to Be his last chance before he is moved - Eli and the skill guys/coaches should be more upset than we are -

lmao jinx!!!!!!
He's getting some holes to run through, which obviously helps.
But I hope he continues to impress.
I'd like to see how he does with the first team offense. I can only watch Perkins run into defenders so many times.
And of course as I write that Gallman drops it.
He's actually getting room to run but he's elusive and decisive. Even against PIT when there wasn't much room, he seemed to be able to squeeze a little bit of a positive out of plays that could have been negatives.
I think he deserves more of a look for sure.
Yea he looks good.
Me too! Not sold on Perkins.
their secondary pretty much is 3rd stringers. they have a ton of question marks on that defense
I like Perkins too. He isn't the problem with the running game.
He seems able to do it all. Ability to escape, and even run.

Are you unfamiliar with the phrase in name only? Meaning he might be the starter, but the other RBs will see plenty of carries. Essentially running back by committee. If Darkwa can stay healthy, he can get much of the short yardage and redzone carries.
He's probably going to play the entire game against the Patriots or a good chunk of it.

Absolutely correct. Maybe one pass over 20 yards even attempted. Passes of 0-5 yards seems the norm. If we didn't have Spags, the Giants would be lucky to go 5-11; McAdoo renders his 'weapons' on offense irrelevant.

Who actually believe Geno or Johnson could win a few games if Eli went down. They both suck -- if the Giants cut them they won't get picked up by another team.
There's at least one respected poster who believes there's little to no difference between Eli and Geno/Josh.
Back-up QBs have always been a hell of a drug for a lot of people.
That's nuts. Both of these clowns play like every snap is their first NFL snap ever.
