He is in the backfield an awful lot. No Pocket for Eli to step up into. I think the interior 3 of Jerry, Pugh and Richburg are more of a problem than the 2 tackles. Fluker for Newhouse is not upgrading the OL if you don't play fluker.
That's saying something, because the two tackles are horrific.
A savier defense would have been working the refs against Flowers. Hard to take anyone seriously if you're not concerned with his choke move on every outside rush.
JR has tried, and he's not done well in talent at the top or the mid rounds with offensive lineman.

How the hell can you guys even see what the hell happened on each play? Before Eli even got the ball snapped to him, he has a DE already in his lap. Do you go back and watch each play? The defense gets to him way too quickly.

The point was that it's struggled before, in other years, in the pre-season only to go on to have a fine regular season.
Was the offense terrible in 2011? 2015? Definitely not, but they sure sucked in the pre-season going into them.
