Weston Richburg is a big problem. He does drive anyone off the ball and gets minimal push. Inside running game, watch his blocking. Minimal leverage and doesn't touch anyone at the second level.
Yea, O-Line is NOT GOOD... Maybe we make a trade with a tanking team (Browns? Jets?) and snag a lineman... but yea, a rebuild is needed. How many of these guys would have started on our o line in the late 2000's? 1? 0?
I don't know who was playing LT. I assume it was Wheeler. Without truly looking back on the game I thought whoever was playing LT looked decent. I am really curious as to who our backup OL are.
off the ball. I don't know if our run plays are taking too long to develop, but I don't see anything to suggest that. I just see guys falling off blocks at the point of attack. We can't sustain a block for just a couple of seconds and by the time the back is there, they are throwing the OL aside.
Weston doesn't anchor well and doesn't have the strength to compete week robweek with NFL tackles. He's undersized much like O'Hara. O'Hara was just a sound technician
All weak, none get a forward push in the run game. Jerry is an at best adequate pass blocker and a horrid run blocker. Fluker is a running game beast, and an adequate at best pass blocker. So, I'd play the guy who at least excels at something: Fluker over Jerry.
I saw him multiple times just completely out of the play and in the backfield. I hope its just communication or something, but I'm not impressed.
Jerry and Richburg are both too soft. I think Fluker deserves a shot with the ones.
Wheeler is a keeper, I like what I saw from him. Bisnowaty definitely needs a year of conditioning and strength, as his problem is just not being able to hold up at the POA.
I like Jones quite a bit as well, would like to see what he can do against starters just to see how he holds up, seems to anchor better than Richburg.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Thats not really the definition of insanity. But fielding the same bad offensive linemen for 3 years in a row and expecting improvement is an exercise in futility.
Really????? It is 3rd and 10 and you think the other team is keying
actually richburgs man was on the left guard, so our center was free for a split second to occupy the wide gap that the (DE? and a moment later the DT also,) stunted into. instead he turned his back to the right side of the line and did not see harts man circle around the back of the DT and right past his rear into the gap.
in addition, if our right guard gets more push, that slows the stunt greatly, or forces the stunting DLer back again towards hart
Richburg, not looking right at all, (you can see on the right end from O POV #53 looking center wise pre snap).
When the immediate threat backs off, richburg assumes he has basically nobody as the DT goes towards pugh, richburg follows, opening the gap
and 2. the RB not seeing #53 at all.
our RT and RG less at fault, RG ended up blocking (ogbah?) only to let him go when he sees the unnattended stunter. RG basically has no choice. Only better thing would be to push his man straight back, clog the stunt.
and hart, basically wondering what to do, could have moved downfield to clog, or possibly pushed ogbah into path of 53, or retreated towards the pocket, but still less faulty than C and RB
but, overall, a good example of how easy it is to take advantage when the threat of run is absent
What appears to be 'sit on heels and wait for a DL or someone to rush at you.' Is very passive.
You are giving the initiative to the DL.
But here, for our center for example, it is as if he was told that his responsibilities were only on his left, however he doesn't even mind the center gap!
contrast all that with outside zone run fake left play action pass right to TE will tye last night for a big gain and a highlight stiff arm to boot.
Seemingly "simple" OL duties, but... quick to develop play, gaps maintained enough to get it done, and QB is designed to move a bit.
Is just as much of a problem as Flowers, if not more, and it's rarely talked about. The middle of our line consistently gets pushed back. I think Pugh is disgustingly overrated as well.
If it were up to me, the entire middle of o line would be replaced next yr, including Pugh.
wait until we play a good team ....
Reread the stuff before you press SUBMIT, dummy!
Who has ever claimed Pugh was a better player than Seubert?
Reread the stuff before you press SUBMIT, dummy!
it's also harder to move when you are soaking wet.
Size isn't the problem. Jerry and Flowers are huge.
1.)Because every play has the chance to be a passing down.
2.) According to Sy and the reporters, Fluker has not really looked that good, is ponderous and slow.
3.) Why not just let the defense know the play? Switching Jerry and Fluker by type of play called is a dead giveaway.

Reading comprehension 101 - today we will learn the definition of a "passing down".
in addition, if our right guard gets more push, that slows the stunt greatly, or forces the stunting DLer back again towards hart
looks like it was designed to go to our RB in a pass, but obviously he needs to hit the LB and let the play go somewhere else.

someone tell Pugh and Jerry to keep an eye out in case the Tackles beside them need help
and our the coaches not teaching the rb's and te's how to rub the DE on their way out in a pass pattern?
