high throws by Eli ?

Elite Mobster #32 : 8/22/2017 6:45 am
Please Eli don't start that! Can we question Eli on the high throws to Beckham and Marshall. Both our guys reaching for the ball were put in vulnerable positions. Beckham was wide open and should not have had to contort himself for the catch. In the case of Marshall down the sidelines he gets banged up reaching for a an inaccurate pass. An accurate throw and possibly, no one is hurt.

This is just an observation. Can we stop this early? I know Marshall and Beckham have to feel they were high throws. Come on Eli you got the best receivers, Lets not start getting our guys banged up.

Marshall and Beckham should not play the remaining pre-season games.
I know we can never question this because Eli is our best chance to win. I'm sure he is aware of the fact that he has to be accurate or the receivers are vulnerable.

Really pay attention Eli is not who we are a accustomed for him to be. His accuracy or inaccuracy cr this matter has increased ever so slightly over the past two seasons. Think of it as a pitcher who loses a notch or two off his fast ball or a basketball player who isn't able to beat a guy off the dribble as he typically does. Health wise he is proabably capable of playing for another 4 years but I truly am beginning to question the quality of said play and am thinking the Giants Brass are too hence the Webb selection this spring.
My thoughts as well

He put more than a few passes in very dangerous places for his receivers....

I also object to game report's description of a "respectable 10 of 14 for 80 yards". The high completion rate is a necessity in McAdoo's system, and 5.7 yards/attempt is not good enough. Improved accuracy could translate into more YAC and yds/attempt, but we are not seeing that.
Not a New Problem

Eli has always been streaky with his accuracy, particularly on the short and intermediate passes. He is as likely to throw high or behind the receiver as make the perfect strike. It has put receivers in bad positions before and will again. Not intended as a criticism, just a comment on who he is as a QB. You take the bad with the good.

cannot continue to hurl the skin of pig round object at heights too steep for the receivers playing wide to safely handle.

This is a problem significant. We need SMASHMOUTH play and to impose will undefeatable on the weak players across the scrimmage line. we don't need throws high. This allows defenders to DISRUPT these passes to the lines at the side of the field. STOP FLOATING SKINS OF PIG!! SMASHMOUTH! HAND BALLS TO BACKS!

very elegantly said.
understandable that Eli didn't have great "touch" last night

the best (or wrost I guess) was when he had Engram alone in the end zone but threw too much of a line drive that was deflected, where if he floated it a little it was an easy TD.
Practice reps do not replace live game action.

It was Eli's first game experience, he was rusty and it showed. Relax.
And I notice no gushing threads

Dirty Hit on Beckham - aimed for his knees / Rolling Legs
Elite Mobster #32 : 8/22/2017 10:15 am : link
Beckham had to contort for the ball, but the Cleveland DB went for Beckham's knees and drove right through. Of course we all want to see good hitting, however in the replay you can see him timing the hit straight at his knees. I felt Cleveland played dirty, there were guys consistently rolling on the back of standing players legs all night. It was consistent to the point, where I saw one of our guys participate on one particular play by the rookie Alford. He put the offensive linemen out of the game for Cleveland. It was the way the Browns were playing, so anything goes I guess.

This was Eli's first live action this year against another team. He needs a little work to get ready for the season.

fuck is "the rookie Alford"?
Other QB's throw every pass perfectly, don't you watch them?
PatersonPlank : 8/22/2017 10:56 am : link
Eli played well. The pass to Beckham was pretty much where it needed to be. The incompletion to EE wasn't a matter of the pass, it was too late coming out so the under coverage got there. He couldn't loft it more because there were others in the area. Its a timing thing and just needed to be a second quicker, we see that play all the time.
I agree Elite Mobster
BigBlueWhale : 8/22/2017 10:57 am : link
and King Quis.

Eli's never been a particularly accurate QB. Always struggled to hit players in stride. It's why I think the TC/KG offense was the best fit for him. The WCO is about surgeon-like precision to allow for YAC. The difference between a 2 yard gain and a 10 yard gain on an out is a perfect pass and ball location.

Eli just isn't that kind of QB.

Eli can still make all the throws. If the Giants are depending on him to make perfect throws all year to move the ball then there might be a problem.

On the high pass to Marshall it is possible that the timing was slightly off since Marshall was clearly letting up to avoid contact.

These are practice games, so we will have to see how it plays out when the games are for real.
Let's not start in on Eli after this shitshow

We know what we have in Eli, he'll be fine.
