thing as if Beckham shot somebody in the process. Guys like Francesa (and some on this board) just can't get over things like that, and it's unfortunate, because I guarantee they've made a worse mistake in their life and learned from it just fine.

Ftancesa doesnt like beckham because he wont go on his show, he refuses to do a weekly apot so inturn mike hates him...

same reason he hates strahan and shockey

Whatever the case, Francesa doesn't like Beckham because he's a 24 year old kid who is on top of the world and goes to the beat of his own drum and doesn't fall in line with what Mike accepts as being a professional. Francesa can fuck off, Beckham doesn't owe him anything.

Rooting for him to succeed (because it helps the Giants) and acknowledging that he's a self-indulgent clown aren't mutually exclusive.

That sort of defeats the purpose of rooting for the guy, don't you think?

as saying that I would have VERY quietly shopped Beckham for two first round picks and a good LB this offseason.

His schtick is not conducive to winning and here is why.

Not 5 months after absolutely laying a goose egg in his first ever playoff game the guy tells the media he wants to be the highest paid NFL player in history.

See- in the old days you would say that the guy lacked self awareness. In the current world he is now TOO self-aware. Everything is about Beckham and the Beckham brand. Welcome to the new breed of athlete, where being awesome and shutting the hell up about it doesn't get you quite as far as being awesome and a borderline narcissist does. For proof look at the difference between Beckham and Julio Jones. Beckham can't fart without having media report on the aroma while Jones just dominates year in and out with nary a peep.

Right now Beckham is very cost controlled, but when the time comes for him to get paid I pray that it is another team who does it. That is why in my (not popular) opinion the right move is to cash in on his value while it is nice and high.

There is a world of difference

He might very well be injured and I don't have an opinion on what he was doing last night because I didnt see it.

But those glossing over the idea that maybe he was being dramatic must have missed when he made a spectacle with a kicking net for a month last season, or the time he showed up for a playoff game at Lambeau in January with no shirt on.

The Beckham cult members are very strange. Sounds like some of you would jump off of a bridge if he told you to.

Or maybe he's the best player on our favorite football team and not our brother or father? Who gives a shit if he's dramatic? He's an amazing player for our favorite team. Just root for the guy for Christ sakes.

As an aside, I may have missed it in the general conflagration, but exactly what body part(s) is Beckham putting in the imaging device?

this summer. I had my fair share last season. But this is just a bit ridiculous at this point.

I don't mean to call you out Beez, but come on. This is such an enormous season for him. He's playing for a new contract. And in his mind at that moment it may have all fallen apart in a damn preseason game on a cheap hit. He's not allowed to have a moment there to either succumb to the pain he's feeling or gather himself for the anxious moments about to come? He's in the damn tunnel to the locker room. He's not out on the field doing this.

You're annoyed because it made you nervous? Think of how he's feeling in that moment!

No better response then this one. It's simply incredible. I came on to get an update on his status and on a Giants board no less, there are ppl criticizing him for how he reacted to a possible brutal injury. This world has gone crazy, people are so miserable and just pass judgement on everyone.

These are all wasted words.

NYG aren't trading him. They're going to extend him and make him the highest paid WR in football until the next guy is due.

There's no point in even discussing it - it's fantasy land shit.

in fact i saw 2 team captains come to his defense in the media, snacks and collins, one called out a media member saying beckham was being to dramatic...

yet fans call him selfish and immature, if he was so selfish and immature you would think teammates wouldnt like him so much and call him one of the hardest wotkers on the team...

fascinating how evwry teammate loves him yet a lot of fans hate his guts, and knowledgable fans at that

arniefez : 8/22/2017 3:22 pm : link
He's one of the 10 best players in the NFL. I still can't stand his act and wish to this day the Giants drafted Zack Martin instead. As great as Beckum is the difference in the best WR and the 20th best WR isn't nearly as wide as the difference between the best OG and the 20th best OG. But that ship has sailed. I hope he isn't hurt and has a great year for NYG.

He dropped the ball in GB in the playoff game. For a guy who can catch the point of the ball with one hand he seems to not handle certain distractions very well.

the team was born in 1925..We may only have him for another few seasons.I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this LT-like talent for as long as he breathes Blue.

I don't give a rat's ass what he does off the field as long as doesn't get in trouble. He works fucking hard at his craft. I don't care what regimens he employs to get where he needs to get to..I don't care about his maturity level off the field. We've all addressed ad nauseum what he needed to clean up and he apparently has..

When/If I read that he's a lockerroom Cancer I will be the first to get on his case or want him out of here. But he's not. FAR FROM IT..

Get off his fucking back and enjoy what we have for as long as we have it..

Chris684 : 8/22/2017 3:29 pm : link
If you think he is a great football player and want him to do well (obviously) but get rubbed the wrong way by the many attention grabbing, me-first stunts he pulls within games that have already lead to a suspension, multiple personal fouls and a bunch of sideline outbursts. When Dez Bryant goes crazy on the Dallas's sideline I say he is a fool too, it is what it is.

The Beckham hyper-sensitivity is crazy.

A talent we won't see for generations? Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, prime-Andre Johnson, prime-Larry Fitzgerald (just to name a few) are all guys that are/were just as good, and except for Brown (who posts locker room talk on social media like a fool) didnt/dont have immaturity issues. Let's slow down on that talk as well.

Beckham's passion for the game is terrific. The fact that he doesnt know how to control it is not terrific.

AB isn't an accurate straight-up comparison. He was a late-round pick who wasn't expected or counted on early in his career, back when the team still had Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders, and even Hines Ward to prioritize.

If Beckham's first four years are as productive as Antonio Brown's most recent 4, that will be something: he'll need to put up 193-2193-8 to do so.

And Jerry Rice fumbled a ball running down the sideline off his leg in a 49-3 playoff blowout.

Just wonder what would've been if the Niners traded him for that.

I realize I'm a bit "get off my lawn" with my feeling about this, but for fuck's sake, name some of the all-time great, tough wide receivers and try to imagine that scene with them? You can't.

I know 24 is still young, and these days, I think it's even younger than with past generations, for varieties of reasons. I wish he'd stop with the diva crap ... and no, I don't want him going anywhere - I'd love for him to retire a Giant several years from now ... but I suspect this is just the character he is, and what we have to deal with, along with all his insanely brilliant play on the field.

So be it, frustrating as it can be for this fan.

I would personally cut him some slack.

no reciever has pit up the atats he has in his first 3 years, if he stays healthy and continues to produce he can be the greatest wide receiver in history...

can go on for pages on this stuff. It never seems to end. The issues are obvious. Some people can't stand the diva stuff and want to go back to a different time. That's not going to happen. This is the age we live in. Not quite sure why NFL receivers have all become prima donnas but they have. Just my personal opinion Beezer, I'm not trying to shit on anybody else. He doesn't seem to cause any problems in the locker room. His team mates all seem to like him and take his back. He's a premier talent. What else needs to be said.

Now, can we find five OL like him please?

That would be our season down the tubes and that was a vicious attempt to hurt OBJ and it wasn't the only play where they go like a guided missile to a players knee when just a simple wrap up or push would have done the job .
They did the same thing to one of the TE's near the line of scrimmage a yard and a half from out of bounds instead of a takedown or shove out of bounds it was another kill shot attempt at the knee with a helmet .
Williams is dirty rotten scum bag that should have been banned from the NFL while he was at NO.

Yeah, when I rolled my ankle a year ago worse than I ever had, I immediately thought to myself, "Fuck, it's going to take weeks to recover from this bullshit." That prospect was pretty upsetting, and for me the only material consequence would be a longer commute to and from work.

Negative. It appears to be a low ankle sprain. Thank goodness. He could have blown out a knee on that hit! In this case, Eli's high throw might have saved his knee, as OBJ was just coming down when he got hit and the foot grazed the ground at the time of the hit. If his foot was on the ground, there's no doubt he could have blown out the knee. There was no reason for that type of hit, especially in a pre-season game.
