I don't believe high ankle sprain.

This is a knee injury period. "Sprained ankle" my ass. He's done and that hit was horse shit
certainly rule out a high-ankle sprain. You simply can't hop up, barely limp and then crouch in the tunnel on that type of an injury. Most players first reaction to a high-ankle sprain is that they've broken their leg and they don't even get off the turf until the staff or cart comes out.
He walked back on the field with no boot, crutches, wrap,or even the miracle cure ice on it. He walked around with no visible discomfort. I think this is similar to the Shepard injury.

Yup. But I still hate this shit.
I remember telling myself the same thing when Jason Sehorn ran off the field.
This is what I hate about preseason. But it's necessary because we all see how crappy the teams play in the preseason. Now just imagine if those were the first four regular-season games.
diagnostics and movement screens are performed in the locker rm immediately. While they arent as accurate as an MRI, they tell a lot. He wouldnt have been allowed back on the sidelines boot/crutch free if they found anything. Im sure he gulped down some strong nsaids and will likely be sore today and have some pt basics to do in addition to reg training. I also go with a mild ligament sprain and out until opener.

Instead of teams playing crappy at the start of the season, it could mean that teams now would play crappy for HALF the season.
Think about it. The Giants had 13 training camp practices. 13. And most of these were without pads. No more two-a-days either. It doesn't change once camp ends or the season begins. These players simply are not practicing enough.

For me preseason games should be run like scrimmages...
10 plays offense then 10 play defense, this way you can get enlugh work on offense and defense and ypu can script the entire "game"...you know exactly how many reps each player ia going to get

Not to completely derail the topic of the thread but.................
The CBA has completely destroyed the quality of play on the field. Eliminating preseason or not playing starters at all would only make it worse.

It's so true. I don't know how they prepare for contact anymore. So hard to coach these preseson games.
As it is, I never feel like the "true" NFL shows until around Thanksgiving. That's when I feel like the quality of play around the league is at its best.
These are the guys who need the contact and need the time to gel. No other unit in the sport works as one and relies on one another the way the OL does.
From what I see, the Giants OL has potential but it has 3 young kids, one of which is a physical specimen at LT who lacks fundamentals. That lack of fundamentals and the overall development of Flowers, Hart and Richburg calls for more time to actually move people in pads and get enough work on tape to evaluate and correct.
Carl Banks talked about this during the draft and basically said expectations have to be lowered with OL prospects coming out of the NCAA where there is limited practice and coming to the NFL with limited camp. There are exceptions, and the cowboys have drafted a few of them recently in guys like Tyron Smith and Martin, but of course guys with HOF ability are going to be exceptions.
From what I saw of Wheeler and Bisnowaty, they look like fine prospects but not near ready to be out there in games that matter. It seems the evolution of the game is hurting OLs first and foremost, but then again what's the alternative if the old way was scrambling all of their brains.

I would agree there was some Diva in his display. Especially when he got in the tunnel and was on the ground. One poster commented the coverage reminded him of the WWE and was expecting someone to hit Odell with a chair and stomp on his knee.
just a precautionary move, done for the preseason though,
makes no sense to play him until the bell rings.
Marshall, with a sore shoulder, didn't seem bad at all.
Maybe X-Rays, don't even think he needs a MRI.
I wouldn't play him either.

Because i am a masochist, i watched the replay about a 1,000 times and the way the knee buckled,it looked like it had LCL or MCL strain written all over it.
and clearly, he's not a "bad guy," as so many gtry to make him out to be.
But holy jumproping jesus, was the kneeling in the tunnel display necessary? He'd just fucking walked/jogged in there, and he has to pause for a fucking photo opp?
I realize I'm a bit "get off my lawn" with my feeling about this, but for fuck's sake, name some of the all-time great, tough wide receivers and try to imagine that scene with them? You can't.
I know 24 is still young, and these days, I think it's even younger than with past generations, for varieties of reasons. I wish he'd stop with the diva crap ... and no, I don't want him going anywhere - I'd love for him to retire a Giant several years from now ... but I suspect this is just the character he is, and what we have to deal with, along with all his insanely brilliant play on the field.
and kneeled and he did it for the camera? if he was going to do it for the camera why not just do it on the field?
Who the hell knows why he does some of the things he does? Much of the additional diva machinations make little sense to me. If you have a better feel for his behaviors, have at it.

So be it, frustrating as it can be for this fan.
I don't think you actually "love the kid" if you believe that he decided to put on an injury act (for what? Just to get some attention). It's kind of a horrible thing to accuse someone of.

But yes. That's my take.
i am sorry you are a fucking idiot if you think he kneeled in the back for the cameras, if he wanted attention why not just do it on the field?
perhaps he ran off the field to get away from the cameras? ever think of that? no beckham is a diva so everything he does is for attention, what a load of crap
this summer. I had my fair share last season. But this is just a bit ridiculous at this point.
I don't mean to call you out Beez, but come on. This is such an enormous season for him. He's playing for a new contract. And in his mind at that moment it may have all fallen apart in a damn preseason game on a cheap hit. He's not allowed to have a moment there to either succumb to the pain he's feeling or gather himself for the anxious moments about to come? He's in the damn tunnel to the locker room. He's not out on the field doing this.
You're annoyed because it made you nervous? Think of how he's feeling in that moment!
but he def put a show on for the camera yesterday. There are no cameras in the lockerroom, he could have done that in the lockerroom if he really wanted to. He knew the camera was on him and he played it up for the camera. No biggie, doesn't hurt the team to do it, but he loves the attention.
He chose that moment, at the bottom of the stadium way off the field to put on an attention-seeking act? It's not like he was only aware of the camera following him while he was walking in the tunnel.
You'd think a near-miss career derailing incident might put some perspective into people.
Is Marshall having one also for his shoulder?

I would think so..Anyone hear what his XR's showed?

You know where I stand on that..GRIN
and yes, i think that hit is legal . . . but dirty. should be illegal.
Think so. Hope so.
Yup. But I still hate this shit.

Preseason sucks but it's a necessary evil.

That, I can agree with you on, buddy..
i doubt he would of been the field no wrap, no ice if they thought it was his knee..

Your opinion or are you hearing things?
Here is hoping for the best.

Yeah. True. No one has ever done that sort of thing before.

There's also the matter of him being on camera THE ENTIRE TIME HE LEFT THE FIELD.
Maybe the act was him walking around like he was fine. People who are faking it don't get MRIs.
You'd think a near-miss career derailing incident might put some perspective into people.
If you know for a fact they did, then sure maybe it was staged.
If you don't know that for a fact, you may want to consider that the player was oh I don't know, just hurting?
