Under-the-radar injury impacting the Giants

Eric from BBI : Admin : 8/22/2017 1:35 pm
The Giants have been a bit snake bitten at two positions with the injury bug this camp/preseason: wide receiver and linebacker.

They've already had to waive/injured three wide receivers. None of those three were favored to win a job though they had outside shots.

But one guy who has missed a significant amount of time, and who appears to have re-injured himself last night, is Tavarres King. Before the injuries, King was probably the odds on favorite to win the 5th WR job because of his play at WR and on special teams. But one has to wonder if his job is now in jeopardy - and if so - that could mean a lesser able player (like Roger Lewis - who has ability but seems to struggle mentally) making the team.

I'm hoping for good news on Beckham and Marshall. But keeping fingers crossed on King too.
Same on King, vut

I'd rather Rudolph. At least he can hold on to what comes his way.
Come on man

Tavarres King?

Pretty sure his injury is not impacting the Giants.

He's a 27 year old journeyman on his 5th team in 4 years and he failed to make most of them.

If the Giants cannot sustain an injury to a guy who "may" be the 5th WR there are bigger problems.

Plus, King being cut or just not making the team would open the door to players with more upside anyway like Travis Rudolph or yeah, even Roger Lewis or Darius Powe who at least have some size, and I hope Lane sneaks through to the PS because he's intriguing too.

Once Marshall is done, the Giants have no size at WR (unless you count Engram).

Tavarres King, though I hope he's not injured, is replaceable.

Beckham and Marshall, that's another story.
Kings my 5th

And Powe is my 6th. Both know the system. I don't care if they miss the whole pre-season.
Great point

Was thinking the same exact thing last night. This was an important camp for him and he could definitely be an asset for this team. He was the only one who showed up in the playoff game - people quick to forget.
King just looks

like who can become a receiver in this league. I hope he is ok and look forward to an emergence.

He looked so fluid catching that pass yesterday and who can forget his TD last year.
Don't forget the entire O-line

LMAO
One thing I will say...
ryanmkeane : 8/22/2017 2:30 pm : link
Engram snatches the ball out of the air when he catches it. Catching and running looks so easy for him...so that's a plus.
No injury yet

but I am worried about CB/S. I think there is no position where, at least in the first two games, I have seen a bigger dropoff in talent.
I hate to use a phrase used by ESPN

but Tavarres King's injury impacting the Giants? Come on, man!

Drop off from what? Landon Collins might be the best defensive player in football. Jackrabbit might be a top 3 CB. I think Adams/Thompson is roughly the same.... Good but not great talent. Apple and Hunter look to be excellent 3rd and 4th corners in year two. Of course there is dropoff from the absolute greats.
I'm more worried about Keenan Robinson...

being back in the concussion protocol.
I realize it's all nuance,
Beezer : 8/22/2017 3:45 pm : link
but can you really use the word "impact" when flipping a page from the 5th-best WR prospect to the 6th?
King

I look at him is a late bloomer it does happen he has obviously continued to work hard and not to quit and it seems when he does play he makes plays .
He did manage to score a TD in the loss to GB I hope he heals quickly being 5th or 6th WR on this team is pretty
damn good . One HOF One Super Star and another up in comer
in Shepard I like Powe and also Jerome Lane . Maybe Lane to the practice squad .

Yeah but one injury and anyone who replaces those names can't even get up to mediocre. Our replacement players are not replacement.
I think wanting more than 4 quality Cb
ZGiants98 : 8/22/2017 5:39 pm : link
And more than three quality S is asking a lot. Nobody has that.
Lewis has been awful
Simms11 : 8/22/2017 10:01 pm : link
this pre-season, dropped passes, lapses in assignments and routes, etc. Hopefully Powe gets back on the field. I think he's got nice size and has looked good this pre-season. I think he could beat out Lewis this year. I sure hope King can also get back before the final game with New England, but he might still make the team anyway, as he knows the offense and has shown value as a receiver.
