Try out The Corner Forum in https

Gary from The East End : Admin : 9/5/2017 8:33 pm
I just installed an SSL/TLS cert for The Corner Forum. It all seems to work OK, but I'd appreciate it if you's have a look and let me know if you see any weirdness.

If there are no problems, I'll probably force https for everyone sometime next
Corner Forum - Now With https ! - ( New Window )
Seems to load faster

Seems fine browsing around,
Gregorio : 9/5/2017 9:17 pm : link
posting this from the https url using google chrome.
It does seem faster
Gary from The East End : Admin : 9/5/2017 9:50 pm : link
Which doesn't make much sense.
all good in Chrome
Jints in Carolina : 9/5/2017 10:10 pm : link
I agree, it is faster.
One minor glitch I have noticed
11 to 89 : 9/5/2017 11:03 pm : link
Clicking a link using the "new window" link doesn't actually open up in a new window. Instead it opens the link in the current window forcing you to "go back" to return to the corner instead of just closing the linked page. I am using Firefox on a Mac if any of that info is useful.
wow - what a difference in load time
gidiefor : Mod : 9/5/2017 11:25 pm : link
that's outstanding Gary
I do get these warnings from Firefox
steve in ky : 9/5/2017 11:47 pm : link

Looks fine
bigblue1124 : 9/6/2017 10:06 am : link
And much faster on Chrome FWIW
Although when I try to get to it from "outside" of BBI
PatersonPlank : 9/6/2017 10:55 am : link
it comes up funny.
Seems okay
Carson53 : 9/6/2017 12:43 pm : link
to me, I generally use Mozilla myself.
I didn't see any lack of speed.
One reason it is faster is due to less requests
Scyber : 9/6/2017 12:51 pm : link
It looks like one file is loaded via http and chrome blocks it:

http://img.bnqt.com/lib/js/sdpdfphelper.js

Not sure what that js is.

On the http site there are 29 network requests, and on the https site there are 25. I did not audit the requests to identify all of the differences.

If you update your server to HTTP2 (now that you are testing https support) you should see even more speed improvements.
Thanks
Gary from The East End : Admin : 9/6/2017 1:20 pm : link
Looks like some of tracking scripts are being loaded over http:, so Chrome is filtering them out.

Maybe faster because
Steve in South Jersey : 9/6/2017 1:30 pm : link
the heavy load of connections is still over on the other non https game?
Won't there be a problem when people load images
Stan in LA : 9/6/2017 6:04 pm : link
That point to http? Won't that trigger insecure warnings?
Didn't notice any difference on chrome
Mad Mike : 9/6/2017 7:00 pm : link
*
So far so good
Matt M. : 9/7/2017 4:12 pm : link
What should the differences be (good or bad) using this protocol?
Definitely faster
