Better College Football Game to Attend?

OBJ_AllDay : 9/7/2017 1:38 am
I have finally decided to take the plunge on a top college game for a road game this year for my birthday (on a weekend when the giants aren't playing). Looking into three options but the 11/25 date works better. Any insights on general area/pre game tailgating/experiences will be greatly appreciated.

October 28 - Florida vs Georgia
November 25 - osu vs Michigan or auburn va Alabama
SEC Florida vs Georgia

Is played at a neutral site. So if u wanted to foto one of these schools that's not one. But it's nuts. My next choice would be Mich vs OSU both teams will vie for Playoff spot this year.

I'm going to The Big House.
Ann Arbor.

Went there last fall & loved it.
Ann Arbor

worked sports info for OSU when in. college. Tremendous atmosphere and experience. I f never been there, I'd suggest going to a game there esp when chance vs OSU rivalry game.
Auburn vs. Alabama for me.

Incredible tailgating, intense rivalry, SEC football.
If it were me.....

I'd man up and brace the elements for a game in Ann Arbor. Have fun - truth is you can't lose with those choices.
Ann Arbor is fun
MookGiants : 9/7/2017 9:03 am : link
but doesn't compare to going to a big SEC game.

Weather will be much better for the other two. I would personally do Auburn vs Alabama, but I know people who have done Florida-Georgia in Jacksonville for the outdoor cocktail party, and they said it's the best tailgating they've ever experienced.

I've been to most of the big college football stadiums and Ann Arbor while a great time would not be anywhere near the top of my list. That's not a knock on the big house, it's just different down south.

LSU for a big night game is probably my favorite one so far. I went to Bama-LSU last year and it was incredible

Arbor is probably the most overrated venue in sports.

Probably the 5th or so best environment in the big ten after OSU, PSU, Wisconsin Nebraska.
I have heard that the talent

At the Cocktail Party is absolutely freaking insane.
I would do

Ann Arbor. Going to the Big House was a bucket list item for me, and I ticked it off last year (UM vs. Wisc.). Lot of fun. That said, not even I get all the love for Ann Arbor. A lot of it is pretty dumpy, but grads really love it. Hard to argue against tailgating with pretty southern girls, though.
Yeah, SEC games are awesome too.

I've never been to a 'Bama game so I can't really comment on the atmosphere, but I'm sure it'll be electric.
OSU vs Michigan for me, for sure
PatersonPlank : 9/7/2017 10:21 am : link
Especially after what happened last year
Draw backs to all of them

Florida/Georgia is in a pro stadium, so you won't get the full effect, but probably a good game.

Michigan/OSU. I have been told that the Big House is not a great environment (Meaning the fans are not as loud or crazy as lets say an SEC crowd) This will probably be the best game to watch though.

Bama/Auburn will give a great atmosphere, but its almost certain that Bama runs away with this game as they have the past few years.
WOW
OBJ_AllDay : 9/7/2017 11:15 am : link
Surprised with the decent amount of comments saying the Big House is nothing to write home about. Good to know. I guess I will have to go with Bama Auburn or Florida Georgia (going to be harder for me to make that one but might have to if its as sick as people are saying).

Any other highly touted games? Maybe I will just commit to one and find a bar for a Giants game on a Sunday wherever the location may be.

I was looking into Florida State vs Clemson until the injury the other night. Now I have no interest in watching that game.
LSU night games are absolutely electric

I've never experienced anything else quite like it.

I've gone to one there at night and it was an awesome environment. Tailgates for miles and great fans that loved LSU.
Not even sure how this is a question

Nothing beats a big time SEC game. Add in the fact that it's the Iron Bowl and one of the biggest rivalries in all of sport, and the choice is easy, imo.
I'm going to the Syracuse/LSU game

in BR in two weeks. But I fear it's at 2p. Got great seats in the lower bowl through a business contact. Trying to finagle some sideline passes through the SU AD.

Not when you know Auburn is going to get blown out again.

Wrong. The IB has a hell of a lot more to offer than just the game. Easy choice.
Although

the OSU/UM game is an excellent option as well. Looking back on it, you can't go wrong with either one.
Plus Alabama and Auburn fans legitimately hate each other
Greg from LI : 9/7/2017 12:26 pm : link
It's not really a good-natured kind of rivalry. I lived in or near Alabama for years - those people aren't kidding around. It's intense.

I mean, a Bama fan went to prison for poisoning those Auburn trees. Seriously.
The Alabama/Auburn people-watching
B in ALB : 9/7/2017 12:29 pm : link
alone is worth the price of admission. People come out of their holes just for this game. It's a spectacle.

I also think he named his two kids Bear & Bryant.

I hate Michigan, but I would not say it's nothing to write home about. I'm simply saying it doesn't compare to the atmospheres in the south.

Clemson is also a lot of fun. Not quite as good as LSU or Knoxville, but close
Ann Arbor
Metnut : 9/7/2017 12:44 pm : link
is a nice city but the gameday atmosphere at the Big House doesn't compare to a big SEC game. Go to Bama/Auburn.
You should be Callin Baton Rouge
PaulBlakeTSU : 9/7/2017 1:43 pm : link
there's nothing like Death Valley on a Saturday night to watch LSU.

I have also heard that the Grove is an amazing atmosphere as well (Ole Miss).
