Just had my big money league draft last night. Full PPR 10 Team League, I had the 8th overall pick. Rate my roster and what I need to improve on.
Starting Lineup
QB - Matt Stafford
RB - Devonta Freeman
RB - Ezekiel Elliot
WR - Keenan Allen
WR - Michael Crabtree
TE - Jack Doyle
Flex - Kareem Hunt
K - Dustin Hopkins
D - Steelers
Bench
RB CJ Anderson
RB Jamaal Williams
RB Tevin Coleman
RB Darren McFadden
WR Emmanuel Sanders
WR Brandon Marshall
WR Jamison Crowder
I had to punt QB and TE positions the way the draft was going till later rounds (Stafford in 12th and Doyle in 13th rounds). I also wanted to ensure I had the backup RBs to my starters and took Tevin Coleman (8th) and Darren McFadden (11th) a round too early.
That said, I think both Stafford and Doyle have upside this year, especially with Luck not playing and Doyle should get a lot of check down targets. If I need to upgrade at either position, I have the bench ammo to package Stafford or Dayle with one of CJ Anderson or my WRs to get a top tier player at those positions.
For this week, I would start Crowder over Hunt.
For this week, I would start Crowder over Hunt.
My plan is hoping Allen gets off to a hot start and then flipping him and a bench player for an elite WR. The AJ Green owner for example is a Chargers fan and pretty sure I'll be able to flip Allen and CJ Anderson for AJ Green since his RB#2 is Danny Woodhead.
I thought about starting Crowder for week 1 but I see Hunt catching a lot of passes tonight when the Chiefs are in catch up mode late in the game.
I think that's his ceiling and I feel like people are drafting him thinking that's his floor. He was a target monster for one stretch of games when SD had little other targets, and now they have a lot of options. He's had 1 catch in his career that went for more than 40 yards.
Basically, I'd put him equal to Crowder and he got picked 2-3 rounds earlier. Plus he carries an injury history and I'd actually take Crowder over him.

not a big Allen fan and in a 10 teamer would prefer better options at QB/TE. Solid B to B+.

I'd be worried about West getting those catches if Reid is worried about the rookie in his first game with his pass protection.

AJ Green
Hopkins
Lynch
Brees
Crabtree
Mixon
Crowder
Woodhead
Perkins
Winston
Engram
NYG
Kevin White
Rosas
Doyle
Starting lineup:
QB: Brees
RB1: McCoy
RB2: Lynch
WR1: AJ Green
WR2: Hopkins
WR3: Crabtree
TE: Engram
Flex: Crowder
K: Rosas
Def: NYG
Bench:
QB: Winston
RB: Mixon/Woodhead/Perkins
WR: Kevin White
TE: Doyle
I think his ceiling is closer to 100-1300-10, but given the injury concerns I expect him closer to Keith's slash line.
Good point about Hunt as a rookie and pass protection against the Patriots. I can see Andy Reid playing Charcandrick West on passing downs to have the veteran there. Crowder would be the safer pick for week one, especially with Pryor still learning the ropes and Doctson\Reed battling through minor injuries. I can see Kirk Cousins giving Crowder a lot of targets early in the season.

Allen isn't a better red zone option than Henry/Gates/T Williams and they also have Gordon who's been good in close. I don't see a big shift in Allen's TDs. He's not a big play guy and if he's not getting RZ looks where are the TDs coming from?
Crowder is still playing the slot and I doubt he's going to see the #1 guy over Pryor. Hell, teams would be more likely to put the #1 on Reed than Crowder.
Received a trade offer of Melvin Gordon + Brandon Marshall for McCaffrey and Amari Cooper. Thoughts? .50 PPR, standard scoring.
My current team is
QB: Cam Newton
RB: Elliot
RB: Mccaf
WR: AJ Green
WR: Cooper
Flex: Martavius Bryant
TE: Doyle
K: Tucker
DEF: Committee
BN: McFadden, Stewart, Rivers, Duke Johnson, John Brown, Ted Ginn
If not, would you do McCaf + Bryant for Gordon and Marshall?
John Brown
Jonathan Stewart
Sproles
Corey Coleman
Kevin White
Who would you start at QB, having lost Winston these are my choices:
Flacco, Hoyer, Kizer or Goff?
John Brown
Jonathan Stewart
Sproles
Corey Coleman

You can't play FF with your heart, you have to play with your head.....if you want to win.
Would I have to throw in another WR like Josh Doctson to get it done Marshall was picked 1 round before Perkins.
Then I would want you in my league because I would kick your ass. Homers always screw themselves up because they won't draft rival teams' players. Dumb in FF.
Not sure Doctson should have any value at this point.
I have Doyle in a PPR league and I think the only concern with him is how bad they may be until Luck comes back healthy. But Doyle is less of a concern than if you spent high picks on Hilton or Moncrief.
Not sure Doctson should have any value at this point.
What about Garcon or Hogan?
Try and trade Perkins for them?
Drop Josh Doctson for Fleener or a 2nd D/st?

Other than the injury risk, which is always real with this guy. If he can stay healthy, he's a lock for 80-1000-7

I agree on Crowder. In a full-point PPR league I think Crowder should be starting for you every week.

I play in 2 high $$ leagues, and am usually in the money every year. There are plenty of options besides Elliot at RB, or any Cowboy player for that matter. These blanket "you're an idiot" statements are useless and wrong.

Especially this year when Elliot may miss half the fantasy season.
QB: Mariota, Manning
RBS: McCoy, Gurley, Coleman, D. Martin, J. Williams
WRS: A. Browm, Beckham, Jeffery, Parker, Perriman, C. Davis
TE: Eifert, Engram
Chiefs kicker, Patriots D
I'm feeling pretty confident. We have 5 keepers in my league. I kept Beckham, McCoy, Gurley, Jeffery and Mariota and took Brown with the first pick.

The team getting McCaffrey and Cooper wins that trade. So for you, stop, don't do it. The way the Panthers are going to use McCaffrey, he's going to catch you at least 50 balls this year. And I also think Gordon is too heavily valued. Ran the ball 250 times last year and still didn't crack 1000 rushing yards, just 3.9 ypc. Yes he had a lot of TDs, and he caught 41 balls. But in best case scenario I think Gordon and McCaffrey are going to be pretty close, while Cooper is going to be much better than B-Marsh.

may not have a crazy season like some expect, but he'll be in the slot with Doctson and Pryor on the outside instead of Garcon and Jackson so he'll have the same role.

Thanks - I figured but wanted to get another opinion, especially on Gordon as he can be a bit polarizing due to the ypc

Great team. If your RBs don't work out, you can always trade a WR for one hopefully.

OK you're just showing off. Someone actually didn't keep Antonio Brown? Or they were out of keeps? With some good health, you should definitely make the playoffs and challenge for the league championship.
I love the flyer on Parker, I think he is going to be one of the biggest surprises in fantasy this year. One criticism, I don't like Doug Martin. When I have to play him, I hate it, because he disappoints. Don't even know if it's a sure thing he starts when his suspension is over. His rushing average last year was a putrid 2.9 ypc on 144 carries. Now I know that ypc doesn't matter in fantasy. And he did have decent games, but he was also fortunate that on the games where he had REALLY low yardage, he scored, and on the games where he had decent yardage and threw in some receiving yardage, he still got in that 9-10 fantasy point range. But I don't like that to happen again and I'd rather have a guy with upside in that spot on my bench. Not sure where you took Martin and who was available, but a guy like Derrick Henry, ADP was about a round later.
I really don't like Kareem Hunt tonight against the pats
This is obviously a flex position
Thanks

Good team, I love the flyer on White. As I've already revealed I'm not a fan of Gordon, I would try to package Allen and him for an elite WR (Brown, Beckham, Jones, Evans). I think you may find a taker. Of course wait until Allen has a big game (preferably both Allen and Gordon) I think your other guys you can mix and match in the meantime for your RB2 until you manage your waivers to get the choice RB that is thrust into a starting role and fantasy stardom (it's inevitable). Reminder to be managing your waiver priority to put you in position to do this.

Agree on Hunt. Don't overthink it.

Martin had a rough 2016 but he was outstanding in 2015. He averaged just a shade under 5 YPC and was one of the best backs in football.
I don't think it's fair to point to his 2016 without mentioning that.
Now that they have Jackson to stretch the field more and provide another vertical threat, I think Martin will be closer to his 2015 self than what we saw last year. He looked really good in pre this year.
If Martin is healthy when he's off suspension, I expect him to have a solid year. I don't expect a repeat of 2015, but I think he can rip about 4 yards a clip, post close to 1k and find the endzone 6-7 times in the 13 games he's eligible to play.

Brown couldn't be kept again because he was a first rounder 2 years running. I was kind of lucky to just miss the playoffs last year and throttle the remaining teams in the toilet bowl to get the first pick to take him. Some numb nuts dropped Aaron Rodgers for no reason so I could have went with him instead of Brown but, in the end, I couldn't resist teaming up Brown with Beckham and rolling with Mariota who I have locked up as keeper in the 15th round.

I read an article that said Andy Reid’s lead back over his career averaging nearly 20 fantasy points in points per reception leagues.
Makes sense when you think of how good Westbrook was for a number of years.
I just don't trust him.
And 2015 he ran almost 300 times, was buoyed by a 235 yard explosion against the Eagles. That game aside, and I really shouldn't diminish that game, but I don't believe that this Bucs' team is going to run the ball that much. Their offense is much different now and even if Martin is good, I don't believe he will get the ball enough to warrant any excitement in fantasy, and he still sucks, IMO.
