Until they started running promos on tv that show the clown. Made me laugh, didn't scare me.

The original made me afraid of clowns

Last time I checked it was 96% on rotten tomatoes.
I thought the original sucked

Nothing against Tim Curry, but the book has always cried out for a committed R-rated film treatment. Curry's Pennywise was literally played like a clown. Skarsgard's portrayal looks to be a supernatural psychopath in clown makeup. That's what the book called for.
I was skeptical

But reviews look great. Can't wait to see it. One of the few books to give me nightmares. Actually the only book. "IT" fucked me up!
The original aged well.

Scared me as a kid, but looking at it now it was a pretty typical tv movie. This looks to be much closer to the book.

Hey, it's gotta be better than the steaming pile of disappointment that was The Dark Tower, right...?
I watched the original for the first time
BigBlueDownTheShore : 9/7/2017 2:19 pm : link
and it didn't scare me at all.
The original *hasn't* aged well

I don't know how you can make a movie out of a book with 1100+ pages without major cuts. But the trailers seem to have the one piece of the story (the kids) right even if the part with them as adults is missing.

Sequel

Yeah, I'm betting the sequel brings the adults in.

A lot King's books don't lend themselves to really plot-faithful adaptations.

Not unless they are miniseries, and not the tame 'made for TV' kind.
