Roger Goodell: I'm not a football person

Goodell was answering a question about whether he believes Colin Kaepernick should play in the NFL: "I'm not a football expert," the boss of America's top professional football league said in response.

Of all things Goodell gets slammed for (and most rightfully so), this is not one of them. Of course he isn't a football expert. He's a lawyer and a businessman.

Probably in an honest moment

.
Stupid question

He shouldn't have answered it at all. He's not a GM or an owner. "My beliefs are irrelevant. I do not run any of the 32 member organizations of the NFL. Those that do rightfully decide on who represents them on the field." Why people answer these obvious trap questions is amazing to me.
Aside from that

People that rag on Goodell make me laugh.
He didn't say he wasn't a football person

He said he wasn't a football expert. Big difference, don't you think?

I realized that after I posted. I had only posted the headline of the article, but yes there is a difference.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that reply

There's a ton Goodell does that is worthy of ridicule, this isn't.
this guy works for the owners
Rocky369 : 9/7/2017 3:42 pm : link
haven't owners come out, maybe even Mara, and said something along the lines of allowing the football guys to make those decisions?
In a perfect world his answer would be: I don't decide who should
Marty in Albany : 9/7/2017 3:50 pm : link
play in the NFL. I only decide who shouldn't.

Correct and "He graduated from Bronxville High School where, as a three-sport star in football, basketball, and baseball, he captained all three teams as a senior and was named the school's athlete of the year."

He did basically say exactly that.

[quote]Iím a huge fan. I have a role as commissioner also, but for me I watch the games and enjoy and I let the football people make those decisions. And the reality is thereís 32 different decisions, and multiple decisions within an organization, so thereís always a dispute. The idea of who can play, who canít play, whoís best for our system and not best for our system, are decisions that should be made by those 32 teams.[quote]

For all the people protesting and howling that he should have a job, what team and situation is he fit? That's the one thing I truly don't understand with all this talk.
