So I am going to be finishing our basement in the next couple of months and need to extend the wifi from the top floor corner into the basement so the boy can play his xbox and we can stream Netflix, etc in the basement. I think the powerline adapter will be the best option for us. I have been looking at a few and it appears as if the TP link AV2000 is a highly rated one. The question that I have is, it seems as if there are some that also have wifi extenders built in? Is that a good idea or should I just stick with the powerline adapter. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance and Go Giants!
Should be, as long as you don't buy an entry level access point. Get something decent with a couple of antennas and it should perform better.
You can also consider one of those multi AP solutions that Google and Netgear make. They're expensive (they both tend to go on sale for around $300 on a regular basis), and have 3 APs that spread out throughout a multi level home to provide consistent, single SSID wireless throughout.
