Hey folks, I've been dodging rain drops the last few weeks down south, but if Mississippi State games are EVER broadcast in the tri-state area, you have to see this "Willie Roaf" like offensive tackle the Bulldogs have to see Martinas Rankins. This 6:05 strongman runs 5.02, benches 500 & had 143 knockdowns last year after transferring from JUCO. Everyone is doing goo-goo eyes with McGlinchy at Notre Dame, but I think he will pose for a statue (complete bust).
One safety I am keeping tabs on is former Notre Dame bad boy, Max Redfield. He was a 5-star recruit & Kelly forced him to play in the box. With 4.42 speed & a 40-inch VJ, that's sort of like hanging the Mona Lisa up in your garage - few get to appreciate it.
The best corner I've seen is Ohio State's Denzel Ward, possibly even better that the "Apple" of my eyes in a blue uni.
Still, I will probably open a few eyes when my reports go to teams in three weeks - my top QB is not named Allen, Jackson, Darnold or Rosen (UCLA dude is a bigger cancer than Ryan Leaf). I am tossing my hat on a Breet Favre clone at Mississippi State-Nick Fitzgerald - 6:04, 237, 4.48 speed. In 13 starts since replacing Dak Prescott, he's recorded 43 TDs & last year, he was third in the SEC in rushing with 1,435 yards.
One thing I do know - the Rutgers pipeline to the Patriots secondary will dry up. The junior there, Wharton, is making feelers he's coming out. Slow CBs just don't cut it & he's not an enforcer type to move to safety.
On the DL, keep tabs on a backup at Ohio State that I feel is better than their starters - Jalyn Holmes, but while not eligible for the draft, Jersey kid, Rashan Gary-Michigan, may be the best defender in college before long
To go, please. Thanks!
Ha! Great.
