NFT: More evidence Paterno knew about Sandusky...

Chris in Philly : 9/9/2017 10:22 am
I am sure the minions of the PSU cult won't believe it, but the story looks more and more grim as the years go on. If any program ever deserved the death penalty it was them.

Penn State paid a huge price

I mean the program had to deal with what 1 year of probation? (Sarcasm off) 5 years later all is forgiven and they are back on top. What a joke. Screw a statue lets build a monument to good old JoePa.

For years after knowing what he did. We all realize he should have been arrested years ago but they not only didn't do that but actually seemed to coddle him after being fired

When Paterno's death basically hijacked the Championship Sunday the last time the Giants made a Super Bowl run. The fact that he remains so revered when he failed to protect sexually abused children in order to protect a fucking college football program is reprehensible. I hope there is a special circle of hell for pedophiles and those who protect them.

... proudly say, 'My kid is going/goes to Pedo State.' One of them always made offensive comments about homosexuals, and now he proudly sends his boy to a school that enabled pedophilia and continues to bury its head in the sand.

I have no respect for anyone affiliated with that school and people that display their swag.

Feel free to tell me all the great things they do off the field. Sorry. My alma mater does that and they are DEAD to me.

To the Pedo State world. Fuck. You. That goes for all the Baylor fans, too.

Hello! Your school is a dogshit institution and doesn't deserve to have a football team, as the morally bankrupt assholes that were part of your institution valued college football over forced rape and sodomy of boys in the single digit ages!

Fuck Penn St
It still bothers me
Mark from Jersey : 9/9/2017 1:49 pm : link
I just got back from a week in PA (Hershey Park/Dutch Wonderland, etc) with the family. Every time I saw someone wear a Penn State hat or t-shirt it made me feel a little off.

Two "Penn Staters" saw each other at Hershey Park and said something and it turned my stomach.

And to think they are recruiting well and are in the Top 10 with maybe the best player in the country on the team. Who the fuck would ever want to go there and play after what happened?
It was reported last May in the NYT

A horrible excuse for a leader, Paterno was a pathetic coward
trueblueinpw : 9/9/2017 2:17 pm : link
How anyone convinces themself that Paterno didn't know Sandusky was a disturbed criminal is beyond me. I will always maintain that Sandusky's enablers were (and remain) more disgusting cowards than even Sandusky. Sandusky is a sick piece of garbage, but he clearly has some sort of uncontrollable pathology which compels him to rape children. It's no excuse, I'm glad he's finally in jail and I hope soul burns in eternal Hell fire, but Sandusky is a sick person. What's Paterno'a excuse? He wanted to win some football games? Joe Pa's legacy should be the obvious truth that he allowed children to be raped so his legacy of what was actually pretty average achievement would remain. He was a pathetic coward.
I never met him
grizz299 : 9/9/2017 2:33 pm : link
but I know several people who knew him well. They universally talk about his high principals and ethics.

I am 77 years old and Paterno was considerably older than me.
I grew up in a different and naïve time compared to subsequent generations. It's going to be hard for a more modern person to understand that this simply wasn't part of our repertoire. You might no it happened but only in a distant and theoretical way, not to anyone you knew or was near you. And monsters like that had horns, they were evil incarnate and visible. They weren't buddies you had a beer with or would have anything to do with football or sports.
You've grown up in a world where priests are labeled as perverts. That couldn't happen in our world, it's just something you couldn't comprehend...Priests were good, kind, sacrificing and men of God. That was our truth, that's why it existed for so long.
Remembering that Paterno is a generation before me, I will always believe that he was in denial, that he simply didn't get it - that it was too horrible to get around.
I just can't imagine any man, much less a man of reputed high character and morals countenancing anything like this.
It just didn't happen in certain circles.
Believing the alternative - that Paterno knew, really knew - is, like the act itself, too horrible to contemplate and actually scares me.
If Paterno knew and countenanced it...everything in my world is a little bit shakier. So maybe I'm in denial too.

Blaming the generation is such a tired argument
UConn4523 : 9/9/2017 2:37 pm : link
my grandfather is from that generation and he would have killed Jerry Sandusky with his bare hands if he caught him doing this. There is simply no good explanation as to why Paterno didn't do everything in his power (which was immense) to not only stop Sandusky but to eradicate that culture from his program and institution.
They should have received a
RetroJint : 9/9/2017 3:19 pm : link
mandatory 10-year ban from playing NCAA football. I still can't believe it. Yeah a couple of administrators are walking around their houses wearing ankle bracelets as a condition of their home-confinement sentences. Great.

I remember a story I read about Paterno stopping an undergrad on campus , who had run a stop sign. Joe made himself a citizen's arrest, he of such impeccable integrity . Well, Coach, that doesn't make up for covering for and abetting the actions of a pedophile.

I'll remember him as he was his last game in Columbus, when he shit his pants on the sideline and had to sprint to the locker room during the game.

And for the counter-factual bent, he almost became HC of the Giants .
And blaming Penn State

So? Your hero allowed children to be raped. And your alma mater tried to limit the damage. Fuck you and the rest of you despicable people who continue to either remain in denial or refuse to admit the university was wrong. Fuckwad.
The argument is fairly simple...
Dunedin81 : 9/9/2017 4:23 pm : link
No the football team isn't the whole school, but for decades it was as big a draw as any, bigger when it came to.fundraising. To protect the program and the tens of thousands of fans who descend on Happy Valley a few times a year and send checks and all that good shit, to protect a man who built that program and was it's single biggest draw long after he ceased to be effective, people consciously covered up child rape. To spare the program and it's figurehead from embarrassment, they let Sandusky go on raping. So the institution deserves every ounce of that guilt, and the people for whom that gives them no pause deserve their own share of shame.
Dunedin gets it

Obviously those posters find some sexual abuse to be so egregious that we should never root for that team again. But L. T. s sexual abuse while bad, It s really no reason to stop being a Giants fan, and there s certainly no need to revisit it every month.

You guys are pathetic.

being self-righteous by pointing out that people who continue to idolize someone who allowed decades of child rape are loathsome? Or by pointing out the ridiculous false equivalency between the systematic cover-up of decades of pedophila and a guy with legendary substance abuse problems who in one case was tricked by a prostitute who misrepresented her age and tried to press assault charges that were ultimately thrown out by the judge. Is he really?

LT and the Giants?
trueblueinpw : 9/9/2017 10:01 pm : link
Seriously? When LT was playing for the Giants he wasn't ever accused of pedophilia. Not ever. So there's no equivalence between LT and Sandusky. Zero. LTs no paragon of virtue, and the underage hooker thing from a few years ago earned him a grade A scum bag rating in my book. But he's not a pedophile.

The Giants organization certainly turned a blind eye to LTs drug use during a part of his career. But I don't think it's accurate to say they enabled his drug use and I don't think they covered up any criminal activity. I think it's fairly obvious that PSU covered up Sandusky's crimes. I also think it's fairly obvious that Paterno enabled Sandusky's crimes as the notion that a man like Paterno, who controlled every single aspect of the football program, didn't know about Sandusky is just pure fantasy. Just don't see how the Giants or their fans are in any way doing the same thing as PSU and Joe Pa supporters.
