NFT: More evidence Paterno knew about Sandusky...

Chris in Philly : 9/9/2017 10:22 am
I am sure the minions of the PSU cult won't believe it, but the story looks more and more grim as the years go on. If any program ever deserved the death penalty it was them.

You are also pathetic

And I guess since he is from Alabama he sleeps with his cousins drives a pickup and chews tobacco
So ALB is apparently Alabama now?

I guess Penn State is better at supporting child molesters than they are educating their student body.

You've made your point over and over.
Good for you.
Now get down from your self-righteous pedestal and shut the fuck up.

Self righteous? About child rape and a known mechanism to hide it, cover it up and limit the damage to a football team?

Are you Fucking kidding?

Holy shit.

Put the sign outside your house, filth.

LOL...How is the hell ANYONE being self-righteous pointing out the utter hypocrisy of the Paterno grundle slobberers when more info comes out of his complicity in this whole sordid affair?

The fucking ass hole not only ignored the multitude of claims, he gave the pedo more opportunities to continue doing it. Fuck Paterno and fuck Penn State

is moronic. These are individuals. Those involved have been punished or are dead. But anyone who has attended this university is also somehow still responsible? Hundreds of thousands of students and alumni have to continue to listen to this shit from ignorant jackasses. I went to Penn State and had a great experience. I've worked with abused children. But I still get this misdirected shit.

Amen!

If you think this was only an issue with a couple of individuals and not the whole College upper echelon you're being extremely naive
The clumsy equivalency..

of the Paterno statue with statues of "General Lee" is ridiculous and reeks of the dreaded snowflake behavior.
A better..

equivalency than LT (which is a really shitty one), would be to the Cardinals and other higher-ups in the Catholic Church who shuffled priests from churches and allowed them to continue a widespread practice of molestation.

Paterno knew what happened and allowed Sandusky to continue to hold youth events where he had access to underage kids.

LT is a drug addict. Paterno knowingly allowed a pedophile to continue to molest kids.

That's the same?

Not only allowed him but gave the evil ass an office to do so
The Catholic Church comparison may be the most apt...
Dunedin81 : 9/10/2017 3:21 am : link
In the sense that it was done in large part to protect the church from reputational harm, even though it put kids in harm's way. Does that mean a churchgoer is as guilty as a pedophile priest or his abetters? Absolutely not. But failing to understand the link between what was done and why it was done makes you obtuse at the least.
I love the equivalency.
manh george : 9/10/2017 3:26 am : link
After he retired as the greatest defensive player ever, LT did some dumb shit, related in part to his addiction, and Giant fans still loved him for his greatness as a player. Giants management took no part in enabling or condoning this behavior

There is solid evidence that, while an active coach, Paterno enabled a pedophile to continue to commit child rape, and that the Penn State leadership in turn enabled Paterno. And much of the Penn State community circled the wagons around an active Paterno and and an active University leadership.

Yup sounds exactly the same.

Now, I don't condone punishing Penn State students for this behavior, except insofar as that punishment comes in the form of much more stringent punishment of the University's sports establishment and the teams they represent. If Penn State really is excellent, I would assume that they can remain excellent with their major sports teams gutted for an appropriate period of time. They might even consume less beer.
And we can't talk about politics.

Pedo State Supporters Proving our Point
Boy Cord : 9/10/2017 9:53 am : link
Always making excuses and playing victim. False equivalency is a popular term in today's political climate. One man's transgressions (LT) are used to defend an institutional cover up (Pedo State) of the most heinous crimes that lasted for decades.

If any program has ever deserved the death penalty, it's Pedo State. Baylor isn't too far behind.

There is no accountability from Pedo State. They cry for poor JoePa and they put their despicable football program above all.

As a parent, that tells me all I need to know about the people associated with that school. They are nothing more than a cult. Where is the acceptance of guilt? Where is the contrition? Where is the outrage? It's not there, and that's a problem and it's disgusting.

I said it before. If it's ever uncovered that my alma mater enabled heinous crimes such as these, they are DEAD to me,. None of this 'We are' bullshit.

Pedo State is something. They are a disgrace. Enjoy your cult.

This, THIS is what has people completely turned off by that festering shithole - the fact that an entire administration looked the other way while Paterno not only allowed Sandusky to coach (overlooking past indiscretions, not seeking law enforcement), but actually giving him a venue to *recruit* new victims.

I'm glad some of you are OK with sending your kids there. I sure as fuck wouldn't be. Too bad Michael Jackson isn't alive, the Neverland tour would probably be the next stop.
Won't let my kids apply to PSU
trueblueinpw : 9/10/2017 11:33 am : link
Honestly would not. The entire institution was corrupted by decades long systemic enablement of a child rapist. How could any parent think PSU has the interest of children first and foremost? Strange how people see things differently.

True. Look how shitty people like PG turned out. Shitty job, shitty personality. Shitty life.

Oh wait.
The systemic rot that encapsulated the football program, money
OlyWABigBlue : 9/10/2017 12:44 pm : link
and power within the administration was way out of balance and was a direct contributor to enabling Sandusky. For that, those in the administration with knowledge and no intervention should flame broil in the hell of their god. I am sure Paterno was a good man to some, but his negligence far outweighs the positives.

I know many alums professionally and they are generally anti football program and pro-academics. Penn ST. does have a very good reputation in many disciplines.

They (Penn St.) have lost all respect as an ethical institution by continuing their football program as it was. If the athletic program is so important to the students and alums, they should have dropped to D3 and at least attempted to offer college football for ostensibly the right reason. I get the idea that those not responsible should not have collateral damage but in essence, the way they've gone about it neither acknowledges or tries to fix the culture that contributed to the molestation of those children. For this, despite the penalties, Penn St. as an institution has both earned and deserves scorn and ridicule.

Although what happened can't be undone, their systemic response has been and is severely lacking. They had a chance to make meaningful changes but from this vantage point it looks to be the same as it ever was. They could have emphasized academics and collegiate experience, both which would benefit those students that had nothing to do with anything in the Sandusky/Paterno era, but instead they doubled down on the athletic culture. To emphasize, I am not talking about individual students or alums, but the university and culture as a whole. It still looks rotten to the core.

Seriously? When LT was playing for the Giants he wasn't ever accused of pedophilia. Not ever. So there's no equivalence between LT and Sandusky. Zero. LTs no paragon of virtue, and the underage hooker thing from a few years ago earned him a grade A scum bag rating in my book. But he's not a pedophile.

The Giants organization certainly turned a blind eye to LTs drug use during a part of his career. But I don't think it's accurate to say they enabled his drug use and I don't think they covered up any criminal activity. I think it's fairly obvious that PSU covered up Sandusky's crimes. I also think it's fairly obvious that Paterno enabled Sandusky's crimes as the notion that a man like Paterno, who controlled every single aspect of the football program, didn't know about Sandusky is just pure fantasy. Just don't see how the Giants or their fans are in any way doing the same thing as PSU and Joe Pa supporters.

Very well put. I had similar thoughts but was having a hard time getting these thoughts straight in my head the way you have. Everything that Penn State did to cover up the horric actions of Sandusky makes me shaking angry so I appreciate your communicating well what I was also thinking.
The Giants handling of Josh Brown
steve in ky : 9/10/2017 4:03 pm : link
was far more embarrassing than any way they ever handled LT.

LT embarrassments came almost entirely long after he was an active player and even the worst of those pale in any comparison to the Sandusky's behavior as a child predator.

I agree. Paterno knew about Sandusky and not only did nothing to stop him but afforded him more access to children, even after Sandusky no longer coached for him. And the PSU leadership covered up Sandusky's criminal, pedophilic behavior, which was conducted ON THEIR CAMPUS, in order to preserve the University's reputation and fundraising. How anyone can form an opinion that Paterno's reputation shouldn't suffer for this, or that the University and it's football/athletic department shouldn't, is beyond me.

And were the football team given the death penalty, students who choose to go the PSU wouldn't need to suffer, because they'd be choosing to go to an excellent academic institution without a football team...like any number of other colleges.
They should have given the program
BigBlueDownTheShore : 9/10/2017 5:21 pm : link
The death penalty. The only reason Paterno never reported it was because it would have hurt the program. He helped raise that place and more attendance came with it. If football wasn't around, no one would have covered this shit up for 40 years.

So to continue to support that program condones the cover up and behavior. They should have buried the program for 10 years at least.
...
christian : 9/10/2017 5:50 pm : link
The PSU academic, community and philanthropic efforts should continue and do good work. That's the whole point of an institution of higher learning.

Participating in athletics against other institutions is a privilege. An institution of academics and thinkers as pedigree as PSU is remiss to not dial down the focus on sport and focus on a better purpose.

Reasonable people should be outraged a culture existed that didn't erase and punish want amounted to a pedophilia program. It should give all moral and honorable men and women pause. That so many opposed any punishment and many still aren't embarrassed or appalled to celebrate the maestros of that culture is alarming.
Nicely put, christian.
