Aaron Donald's holdout is over.

The Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman showed up the team's facility Saturday afternoon after a preseason-long absence. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Donald took and passed his physical, per a source informed.

Donald will not play in Sunday's test against the Indianapolis Colts, but has been working out on the east coast and "could be up to speed soon", as Rapoport reported. Coach Sean McVay said Friday that Donald "won't be a part of this [week's] game."

Around The NFL will have more on this story shortly.

unless you are prepared to sit the whole season, holding out for a game does nothing.
Yep.

Still newsworthy, though.
Ohh of course

my comment wasn't directed to the OP. Just a general thought ok holdouts and how they aren't really a negotiation tactic anymore. The players have too much to lose and not enough to gain.
He pulled a Strahan - sat out camp

Sitting out the whole season accomplishes even less, because the contract gets "tolled" (I think that's the word) and free agency is pushed back a year. The proper strategy is to sit out ten games and then report. You lose ten game checks, but you don't lose the year. And ten game checks out of a $1.8M salary isn't such a burden when there is roughly $50M in guaranteed money at risk/stake.
This is why the Players have to strike

Teams know these guys won’t hold out. Because they need the checks. CBA is so one sided it isn’t funny
I think I may be wrong about the ten weeks...

I just did some googling and it looks like that only applies to players who haven't signed their franchise tag. I'm gonna do some more digging.

my point remains the same. All the holdout gets is a guarantee of non injury in preseason. He was t going to get a shiny new deal because of this. Sucks for Donald, Beckham, etc but those are the rules now. Show up, go to work, and take out an insurance policy if you are worried about an injury.

It doesn't suck for them. After their rookie contract, the bonus they sign for will set then up for life. I imagine the bonus for both players will be in the $30-40 million range. Let them pay their dues first.

It's not up to us to tell them what they should be happy making. They have every right to want to get top dollar as early as possible. But they don't hold the cards and the rules allow the teams to have most of the leverage.

Donald has a contract. I'm old fashioned. I think he should live up to the terms especially his first contract. Like I said before, let him pay some dues. One of the reasons I like football more than the other sports is that there is some attempt to equalize competition and the rookie pay scale helps. It's way better for the fans and the game
You dont holdout with two years left on your deal

Does the team have to honor the contract? Oh, no? Then the "I'm old fashioned" rhetoric falls a little flat.

There is a thing called leverage, he doesn't have any.
Just a waste of time for him to holdout.
