I just wrote at length about B.J. Goodson, but it's worth noting that of his fellow 2016 draftees, he's not the only one who's earned a starting gig.
CB Eli Apple, WR Sterling Shepard (in the slot), FS Darian Thompson, and RB Paul Perkins are all at the top of the depth chart, and if TE Jerrell Adams isn't starting (hell, he may not even be active tonight), he's shown himself to be an excellent blocker as well as a decent receiver, and I have no doubt that he's capable of making a significant contribution to the offense if called upon.
I'd like to say that the future of the Giants looks to be very bright, but that might be a bit premature. We'll see if these second-year guys are all up to their respective tasks. Still, you have to feel good about this team and its young cast of characters.
Just, please...no sophomore slumps!
that term is more appropriate (IMO) for someone like Beckham or Shockey who had great rookie years.
I guess Shepard is the closest, but when Goodson barely played as a rookie, is it really a sophomore slump if he only plays a little better or not better at all? Thompson didn't see the field as a rookie due to injury, it's almost impossible for him to have a sophomore slump.
however, my semantics aside, I agree that the team would be better if the 2nd year players improve.
teams have a whole year of tape on him now ..
his tendencies have been under the microscope all off season
i doubt he has the year he had last year ..
Yup. Looking at you Dak.
The only thing harder to a QB than success, is sustained success.
