in terms of actual talent on the field tonight, they're probably one of the worst in the league. Even without Beckham if we can move the ball against these chumps, it's going to be a long season.

this game is going to turn out fine -- by degrees the Cowboys have taken a step back in areas we have taken a step forward, and where we match up well with them. While OBJ is great for this team - this team is now built to not rely on him.
Dallas still gets the calls. Phantom first down and no call on the most obvious blow to the head you'll see all season. Fuck Dallas. Fuck these fucking fuckity fucking refs.
But, it was an obvious slap to the head of Eli, which is supposed to be an easy call. That's the kind of BS our DL and LBs get called for all the time.
But, the terrible spot completely changes field position and the blow to the head overlooked enhances it. Both were egregiously bad calls.
yeah maybe but we also can do more to stop the drive. ON that play you are referring to, the LB did not fill the hole soon enough. Zeke blocked him beyond the line of scrimmage. IMO, that allowed Dak to get that close to a first down.

But, he wasn't that close. He got stood up and turned around. His back (or really his butt) was maybe at the line, with the ball no closer than a half yard away.
Nope! That was real pressure. Too much pressure that he he will feel all night long because the Giants management does not understand how important it is to have a good offensive line!
And you can't say that they do after 5 years of a shit line!
better not torpedo another season, not a good start
Mook, we had the worst OL in the league last year. Please tell me what changes we made this off season to give us any hope that it would be much different.
This Oline is a joke.. This is against a weak Defense too?! The Giants will lose this game. They don't look ready and are poorly coached. The offense sticks. Whats new??

Jerry was pushed back right into Eli, he had to move. The other guys did ok. Hart pushed his guy behind Eli after getting beat initially. Jerry just sucks.
not getting any pressure on Dak. The Cowboys are moving the ball, albeit in small chunks. But they will wear us out pretty quickly, certainly by the second half.
RE: I wonder how Odell gets his hair like that. Is it natural or does he

If the offense can't get anything going soon to spell the defense we're fucked.
Given a pass last year because he was supposed to be playing with a bad hand, Vernon is looking more and more like the expensive underachiever of the expensive defensive talent.

They are tired already. If the offense can't get something going the Giants are gonna get blown out
They're about to blow us out. Defense has been on the field for an entire quarter. The offense is its usual shit show. It's McCarthy's shit system without a oline and without a generational talent at QB, and we don't even have McCarthy's calibre of playcalling. It's fucking stone age football.
Its the same old story, Dallas taking away the short routes and betting they get to Eli before the longer routes can happen. With our OL that works like a charm.
1ST QTR: 0 first downs, 2 punts, 6 plays for net 5-10 yards. Can McAdoo call for a forfeit? That's the only play that gives us a chance of avoiding a blowout.

There isn't any gameplan that can save an offense when the OL is playing this badly.
They look worse than they have since 2013 tonight against a shit pass rush and there's nothing McAdoo or Eli can do about it.
You realize these 26 plays in the first quarter on defense is going to be relevant as the game goes on.
Defense is doing great, they can't play all game and they can't score. So, yeah, it's going to be a problem if our offense continues to look like it did last year.

Exactly, it's not the score it's the fact we will be completely gassed on D come the middle of the 3rd qtr

Put Jones or Fluker in, then. This offense is pathetic. Players or coaches or both.
said the same thing to my buddy....lol if eli gets time he will be able to actually run an offense...Defense needs a stop here. perkins isnt running bad either, i think he made one bad read, but he is picking up 3-4 consistently which is better than nothing...
when Lee stepped up, he should have went somewhere else with the ball. Engram was going to be open or Shepard, Eli just had to wait for Lee to commit and he didn't and Lee jumped the route.
quote Yogi Berra, it's getting late pretty early out there. The offense is so bad, the D has to be perfect. McAdoo is exhibiting a lot of Coughlin's stubbornness by not benching Jerry.
Sullivan is worthless as an oc,and I'm starting to get convinced McAdoo is shit as a playcaller. I gave him all last year, but same old shit year it appears.
This defense cannot play this many minutes.
If Dak was even slighty accurate, we'd be down by a metric fuckton already...
After the final game last year....with the exception of a few teams no one in the league has a dominant OL, we have to use the pieces we have, better QB'ing better play calls, better decisions.
Two minutes after he practically blew Lee for a tackle on an overthrown ball short of the line of scrimmage he's up Elliot's ass for a five years gain with eight blockers in front of him.

What playcalling choices do the coaches have when your O line is as porous as Swiss cheese?
Time for the o line to earn their game checks.....
Perkins has gained four on quite a few of these runs that have been recorded as three yards.
Perkins hasn't been bad, but as soon as there's contact that's it. His jump cut is normally good for getting 2 or 3 yards but he's got no power and no top end speed.
After the final game last year....with the exception of a few teams no one in the league has a dominant OL, we have to use the pieces we have, better QB'ing better play calls, better decisions.

Bullshit. That's McAdoo protecting himself.
In a league of sorry O-line play, we were among the worst. So we're the shittiest of the shittiest.
Witten has played 13% of his games against the Giants (30 of 232) and has gained 13% of his yards against the Giants (1,588 of 12,392). I would have expected the percentage to be higher since it seems like he kills us every game.
and while i don't love the play calling, the one to blame for all of is Jerry Reese.
You can't have a QB who even in his prime couldn't move playing behind the worst offensive line in the league for multiple years and think it's somehow going to work.
O-Line and in passing downs they're getting pushed onto their asses! Richburg is not having a good game either, and his short fuse is gonna get a flag sooner or later
So have many people. Anyone who thought the line was suddenly going to go from being the worst in the league to average is a god damn fool. They are bad players, and the depth behind them is even worse.
offense isn't even painfully bad. It's nonexistent. Dallas is dropping six or seven into coverage, but we still can't run against their D when they do so.
Hes had time the last two drives. But is skittish and all this clown McAdoomis calling is little 4 yard plays. Making a shitty defense look like the 85 bears. Getting his ass kicked by Marinelli
Dallas D looks like they have 15 players out there
Way to go Jerry. Eli's gonna be spooked all year.
Might be time to lower expectations for 2017.
But, it also doesn't help that the playcalling seems to have exclusively slow developing deep routes or 2 yard routes. There has been nothing in between last year and now tonight.
Lets try running the ball, and then throwing a pass more than 10 yards
offense really needs to get it together... i know its been beaten to death, but obj would force dallas to play a little deeper and they wouldnt be all over this under routes imo...
offense needs to get into a groove. defense playing pretty well
offense isn't even painfully bad. It's nonexistent. Dallas is dropping six or seven into coverage, but we still can't run against their D when they do so.
We can run, but then we just stop it's driving me nuts.
and field position had forced them to be more conservative, but this offensive play calling isn't working. McAdoo should have Sullivan the headset for the second half.
Amateur hour! Wow, we have NO offense. Maybe now JR will realize that all the offensive skill positions in the world can't help an offense with a pathetic o-line. I hope JR gets fired after this year or ASAP!
A lot of us have been calling this we just get dismissed as a bunch of Pollyannas.
So have many people. Anyone who thought the line was suddenly going to go from being the worst in the league to average is a god damn fool. They are bad players, and the depth behind them is even worse.
If Giants win, it will be Spags' victory. McAdoo should be fired; this offensive impotence was VERY evident in the past two preseasons and last year. Even if Eli had 10 mins to pass, they'll never pick up first downs on passes of 1-3 yards!
Watching this team isn't fun. Even when they win, it's not fun. Even if they end up winning this game some how, watching this game won't be time well spent.
for all of the talk about our defense, we are crumbling. Sure they are probably gassed but even in the first quarter Zeke was getting about 5 yards per carry
He is right now though, maybe not fixably so either, and Jerry Reese deserves to ripped to shreds for what he's done with the OL to bring us to this point.
We like to run these complex short passes that require a lot of things to go right...but with no fear of the deep threat, the Cowboys D can just creep up and stop those plays
Nice to pay Brandon Marshall to be a decoy, for example. We can't try one out or back-shoulder throw to him all half?
No, it's on the QB as well. It's a shit system with a terrible oline, but that's pretty much describes about a 3rd of the league. They'd move the ball against Dallas better than this.
You know, Eli is my favorite player and Reese deserves some blame and so does the Oline, but if you can't see Eli is somewhat contributing to this, I am not sure what to tell you, other than to watch more closely.
No, it's on the QB as well. It's a shit system with a terrible oline, but that's pretty much describes about a 3rd of the league. They'd move the ball against Dallas better than this.
We're the worst of the worst. If O-line play is so bad across the league, what does it say about us that we're the second worst in the whole league?
Last year our offense was garbage with the best receiver in football.
He's out tonight, replaced by Marshall and a rookie. It's impossible to win with this offensive line unless the defense stands on their heads. It will be a little easier with Beckham, but still difficult.
You can't win titles with the worst offensive line in football
terrible. At some point, the coach has to get some of the blame. He should give 85% of his paycheck to Odell. Without Odell taking a slant to the house against prevent defenses, he'd be back holding a clipboard in Green Bay a long time ago.
Have to feel bad for this defense.
And Eli has to play better. I know the line sucks, but he's shitting his pants out there.
RE: There's is absolutely 0 chance we win this game,
90% of the games are piss poor boring and wind up decided by some bullshit call from an out of shape 50+ year old man working part-time on the weekend.
giants offense should have clown music playing while out there
Who said they were happy the Giants didn't "reach" in the draft, or "overpay" for an offensive lineman. Leaving that position untouched in entirety should cost everyone their jobs.
He's not. McCarthy's system is about as vanilla and shit a WCO as it's possible to get, McAdoo runs it basically by the book, he just doesn't have Rodgers to make it look competent.
This first half is an indictment on the entire organization. Dallas isn't even that good.
They were 13-3 last year. They have a good team.
They fucking have a defense missing half of it's starters and with their only cornerback with any experience out injured. If you can't move the ball on this, you're not ever going to be able to move the ball.
and you're running on 8 plays out of 10, I don't think it's fair to condemn you for thowing a bad throw on plays 9 and 10. He's completely shaken by all the plays where he is getting killed.
the offense IS what you see. stop sugar coating things with denial. until everyone team, coaches, and owners are embarrassed publicly nothing changes, because remember the scheme is correct it must be the players.

It's the first game and nothing can really prepare you to play 4 quarters of football other than playing 4 quarters of football. I'm not saying I don't like our chances in a close game, but if they're going into the 4th qtr and Dallas has held the ball for 28 or 29 minutes I'll be squirming in my chair.
Jerry is the worst GM in the league! Say what you want about Jerry Jones but at least he recognizes how important a good o-line is. After 5 years of oline shit play JR still hasn't got a clue!
A big play for this O. The O coaches and players should transfer their paychecks to the D players, who are the only pros on the field with 'ny' on their helmets.
I've been watching Giants football for 48 years. I don't think I've ever see such offensive ineptitude for such a long period of time in that whole time. And this includes the Joe Pisarcik years and the famous 17-17 tie with the Cardinals back in 1980something.
Really surprised, frankly. I thought they'd come out with some fire tonight.
and realizes that if you spend the money on building a solid OL, you can win a division with a rookie QB, a rookie RB, a TE who is as old as dirt, and a star WR who misses games due to injury.
Jerry is the worst GM in the league! Say what you want about Jerry Jones but at least he recognizes how important a good o-line is. After 5 years of oline shit play JR still hasn't got a clue!
Jerry lucked into this oline. Collins was just a shady deal. Fredrick they picked literally because everyone else they liked in the first round got picked. Martin was a similar deal.
He's the captain of this ship. Even though the Oline is bad, there's enough talent there to make something out of it. He's making nothing out of it. And he's supposed to be an offensive genius...
If the first 2-3 games go like this, I'd say fire him and put Spags in charge. Couldn't be worse.
but the addition of Ellison and the fullback Smith is supposed to improve our blocking, right? Why does it look like the same shit blocking from last year?
Ugliest half of offensive football I've seen from this team in a very long time! Don't see it getting too much better in the second half and if we can't keep our D off the field, then it will start to become a blowout very quickly. Can this team regroup and play a game next Monday night at home against a pretty damn good Detroit team?
for the entire year last year. But I won't do it again. He needs to make some plays. The O-Line has not been great, but he's completely missed on key throws.
drives alive. The Giants offense is just terrible. Now you understand why Jerrah paid so much money to get this game, he is always looking to make himself feel good.

start to the season.
OBJ hurt in preseason, Eli looking like toast just like last year. McAdoo/Sullivan completely over his head. Marshall not on the same page. Even Engram looks stiff. And the D perhaps reading too many clippings.
He has not looked good. OL has let him down at points, but he's had time other plays and just shit the bed.
His mechanics are all fucked up and he has zero confidence in the OL Jerry provided him. And as others said, vs one of the weaker D's they're going to face this year. And it's only week 1. That hit last year in the first Washington game might have permanently damaged him.
But that said, the play calling and Eli have been shit tonight. We have to at least attempt a couple passes longer than 5 yards downfield to make them respect the threat of it
It doesn't matter. Eli's head is gone at this point. They could give him all day it doesn't matter. He's has had plays with little pressure he still looks skittish. It's David Carr happy feet syndrome.
eli is just putrid...maybe he is scared but he locks on to one receiver, is so unathletic and just isn't very accurate. maybe it's just one bad half but I don't think so...
and the playcalling is criminal. For example, Darkwa runs for 11 yds and a 1st down and then we pass 3x in a row for the inevitable punt.
there are 16 games so I am not predicting the season, but wow are we bad on Offense. I do not think OBJ could even make a difference tonight. eli couldn't hit him if got wide open anyway.
Offense stinks
Have these played together before?
The o line is offensive
putridly offensive.
E-Wreck is already mid-season form.
If Eli cannot set his feet he cannot throw.
He cannot throw a two yard pass on third and four.......
A startlingly bad start.
So all of a sudden Eli is going to feel comfortable throwing to the two of them?
Dallas is rushing 4 and Eli is having to move around in the pocket.....everything he is throwing is short, and he basically is throwing against 7 defenders....the Giants are not stretching the field and making it easy for the Dallas defense...
But FUCK the NFL for the WORST officiating EVER. Drive 1 Dallas was STOPPED SHORT on the third down run but refs GIFTED first down. Then next drive NFL proves you can't hit a QB in the head EXCEPT FOR ELI MANNING. Then the PI on Jenkins that results in Dallas TD. FUCK the NFL.
Back to the Yankees and, soon, the Rangers. I'll check in now and then to see what's been done to clean up this total mess. If anything. I don't have my hopes up.
Jerry is the worst GM in the league! Say what you want about Jerry Jones but at least he recognizes how important a good o-line is. After 5 years of oline shit play JR still hasn't got a clue!
Jerry has to coach the team too? Were in between the lines right now, and our coaching staff is being embarrassed
but the addition of Ellison and the fullback Smith is supposed to improve our blocking, right? Why does it look like the same shit blocking from last year?
Bc the dumb coach is too busy trying to go 3 WRs with Lewis in the game.
So this is a minute bitch but one I was praying I didn't have to post. Watching the game on my phone isn't easy but watching McAdoo get out coached(as usual) is making what little patience I have left evaporate
listening this offseason how their o will be different
Try to contain your supposed 'I hate to be right' glee.
I've taken a ton of shit over the past year from the likes of posters like you.
Truth hurts.
You've taken a ton of deserved shit because you still have sand in your vag over Coughlin getting fired.
This place is for Giants fans - if you can't give a flying fuck about the team and get over the fact that a coach past his prime lost his job, maybe you need a Jaguars jersey.
Because when he runs a slant, he takes two players with him, allowing the two yard passes to go for 5. When Shepard runs a slant, they go we'll tackle him later.
Like Eli has an inch rubber thick band tied a dozen times around his left nut, we're playing with WRs who are rejects from the local Texas high schools tryouts a few weeks back, and our coach is communicating some other teams plays in with nomenclature nobody understands.
What has mcadoo done as head coach? Offense has degraded since tc has left. Spags has kept the defense competitive and hungry and prideful. We can't say the same thing about the o. I don't gloss over the probs as its oline, or its Eli, or its the play calling. Bottom line D which is all spags is doing their job. The O which is all mccadoo is not, and has not for 2.5 seasons. Spags will and should get a hc offer in a season or 2. Time to bail on mac, accept eli's time has come, promote spags and look to the future vs hanging on to the past. I hope Mara and co realize this and hold everyone accountable. It's not just are the players playing for the coach, its is the product competitive. Hell if you look at the roster divide, its 26 on o and 24 on d. Landon collins playing on specials. Where is the f'ing accountability on the f'ing head coach?
Hang your heads in shame Giants. Horrible display of football. The most embarrassing half of football I have seen in years. Pathetic. Fire Reece. Fire MacAdoo and start from scratch. This shot is unacceptable.
If we would just commit to it. They have a weak front and we are just not even attempting to run. The pass game will come around if we try to establish the run.
First game against a division rival on their field.
Maybe just maybe we give this some time??
It's a legitimate point. There's no way we're this bad. And it's not just OBJ's absence. I doubt we win this, but we'll bounce back.
Nobody is against patience and, of course, one half is not out sesson or even a definitive indication of how our season will go, but when you see same trend from last year, when you see your aging QB miss two wide open WRs, I get the pessimism and it's not uncalled for
It's easy to blame the line but they don't throw the ball. Unfortunately this is the Eli fans of other teams see, but not one that many Giants can recognize. After all he is capable of greatness but it happens much less frequently than in his youth. I'll hope for his magic to return but an old, immobile and inaccurate QB is not going to cut it with this line.
All these doom and gloom are probably overreactions but there
is a trend here. Outside of Odell the offense has looked like crap for 3 years. It really boggles the mind Reese would feel comfortable sending Jerry and Hart out there and people could think McAdoo is doing an adequate job with the personnel.
Correct me if I'm wrong

We have the same Tackles, and the TE's are not helping them....
It is refereeing. Looks like they are paid off by Jerry.
Eli must have nighmares and it's no wonder why he's so distracted trying to find an open receiver in the 1 second he has before being manhandled by the other team.
I'm hoping maybe this vary pathetic shit show will finally convince JR that you can't win without a decent o-line.
much too early to make judgments about Eli just based on this game, but the OL looks no better than last year. Dallas is getting pressure with just four or five and dropping everyone else into coverage. Eli is immobile, so he isn't a threat to run. And our WRs can't break free.
If we would just commit to it. They have a weak front and we are just not even attempting to run. The pass game will come around if we try to establish the run.
Commit to it? Besides Darwka's one run, what would lead you to that conclusion??

Because the wizard McAdoo hasn't used them as he could.
RE: I honestly didn't think the pass protection was that bad
Looks like Ellie May came to dance......he of leaden feet and little arm strength.
Gonna be a long long season if this is the quality of play. The half time guys aren't even talking about the game. They're talking about next weeks game.
Offensive juggy naught......
His time has to be running out. He was an inexperienced guy who has not grown into the position. This offense as a group does not execute. Its inexcusable.
The best thing you can say about him is he was smart enough to completely pull the plug on his O last year and not f#ck it up for the D. Great...
Agree.
Not the reasons we are losing but the NFL's love for the Cowboys is grating. Three awful calls. At least they oicked up the illegal contact flag on us down at the goalline.
But then again, my 12 year old son could disrupt our Offense.
What are we doing??
It's easy for any competent MLB. Most of the throws are short to intermediate plays across the middle. The runs are all between the tackles. The route tree and play design is as basic as it comes.
There was a time where the basic WCO, we'll just consistently out execute you worked. But frankly, that's gone now. Everyone knows what's coming. Apart from McCarthy and McAdoo all the WCO coaches have developed the basic concepts into something far more dynamic.
Uh, dominant. The genius reason given for letting TC go by most who were in favor is simply, " it was time". No dumber words have been spoken on BBI. Maybe as dumb but not dumber.
And if he turns it around he gets credit. But as the general, you need to make better decisions. This hasn't been a good game. He has put out a shit offense since taking over and it's not up for debate.
RE: RE: Does anyone know what kind of shoes ODB is wearing?
They've got to be able to move the pocket and generate some confident space for Manning. The pass rush isn't smothering Manning, but there are so many people in the box it's taking away everything short.
are all the people that said don't worry about this offense in the pre season McAdoo is playing vanilla. Well I tell you your right all he can do is call vanilla. His offense scheme just sucks watching

someone tells Reese that when TC was arguing with him about getting big tough O lineman and return to 'Giants football' that TC was talking about '86 and not '66.
Love Eli, but he's got the David Carr Syndrome; 'I'm getting pressures and hit every play'...Poor guy, 15 years in the league and a good OL for only about 5.
Anyone who thinks this oline is NFL worthy is a moron
I've read posts for 3 years and watch JR bat .000 and Do nothing
Significant this offseason - that would mean loss of a job - i don't care
Where they were drafted - this group is horrible and was last year too -now Eli has PTSD and is a hot mess - nothing else - not the defense - refs suck tonight but they arent the reason our offense sucks - JR is - And the OL
Is - nothing more nothing less - period
It made sense for continuity with where eli is in his career, but if he can't get production out of eli More than 3 and out than f continuity and let's move on and forward with a new qb, system and hc.

Perkins is getting 4 yards a pop. That is fine just keep running and he will eventually pop one. This is just dumb to keep trying to pass when it's not there.
But Dak and Dallas deserve some credit. There will be no sophomore slump with Dak. He has looked cool as a cucumber. He will be a pain in our ass for a LOOOONG time.
state of the team in one half of one game, just sucks.Discussion is one thing, denigrating is another..Have at it...I don't want to be part of this board anymore and will join the others who have left..

Game threads are literally always like this. Even in games we win. It helps people to let off steam, and many comments are emotional and heat of the moment. It's not necessarily their actual opinions.
D needs to do their thing now. Three and out and keep the O in a groove. Get this to a one-score game by the fourth, or at least early into the fourth.
How can everyone with any love for this team see they needed lineman except for Moron Jerry??? Reese has singlehandedly stolen Eli's prime and now golden years. He should be skewered for the rest of his life for such a blunder.
1) We are being completely out coached. Pre-season blown plays have not been corrected. The no huddle is confusing the defense. The Giants have all sorts of NFL level weapons and cannot find a way to use them.
2) Eli looks absolutely terrible. full stop
3) This is probably the worst half of football I have ever seen, though maybe I have forgotten some bad moments over last 50 years...and hopefully I'll forget this as well.
4) This is not all about the absence of Odell Beckham Jr. There is absolutely nothing happening out there.
So it is never as bad as it looks when you are losing, and never as good as it looks when you are winning...but jeez...
bench Jerry for Jones, and use Darkwa and Lewis more. But that was disappointing. We needed 15 plays. How many times can a team expect to do that? We have nothing besides Shepard?
what you want McAdoo to do as a play caller when our running backs suck and the line is awful and Eli is immobile.
It's a recipe for disaster no matter who is calling the plays.
This is on one guy. Jerry Reese, no one else.
Correct. But it's STILL aggravating. Before last year, I'd never seen an offense complete three passes in a series, not get penalized and STILL go 3 and out ...
Anyway, this isn't on Eli. If anything, we'd be much worse if he wasn't being so smart with the ball. Dallas is able to drop 7 and get pressure and sop the run with their front four. For instance on that pass to Marshall on 3rd down to themleft in the first half, Lee dropped underneath. There was no place for Eli to put that ball.
1) We are being completely out coached. Pre-season blown plays have not been corrected. The no huddle is confusing the defense. The Giants have all sorts of NFL level weapons and cannot find a way to use them.

This sucks but there is no way this is a worse half than some of the crap we had under Handley, Reeves (opening nigh '95 lol) and Fassell.
You have to take some of those shots to keep the defense from creeping up and jumping routes too much
Sure, but it was not a good spot to do it IMO. They need to get drives going and not waste a throw to a receiver that was not open. I would have accepted him even going to the check down.
Actually I think Eli has looked good this half so far
It's not a matter of being in sync. He was as open as any receiver in the world will ever be. Quite why the ball was laced in well in front of him I don't know.
Britt, you've become the poster you hated from the previous regime. Expect better from you. You always praised patience and came across as being above those kind of posts.
he smiled after the beasely catch because it reminded him of his tough catch..isn't that awesome? He has such a great smile and that gold chain was twinkling too!!!!!

You are the weirdest dude on the entire internet.
Apple made a nice play there - he just got unlucky
This freaking game was ALL on the offense and it's not going to get better unless they can somehow get OBJ on the field. I do think Marshall and Engram will start to grow into the offense, but the Oline really, really worries me still. If Jerry is still the RG next week, then the offensive staff needs to be shot!
Giants really miss TC keeping him in check. Hes the most predictable play caller in the league
I don't know whether he is or isn't but at this point he should give up the job. I really believe it's the horrendous pieces of shit playing the o line but they don't seem to be going anywhere.
Hey genius, he had it but ran it into the end zone
The ball crossed the end line first. You are a fucking embarrassment on this thread, and part of it apparently is because you don't even know what the fuck you're seeing.
Engram play was luck. Blown coverage by the Cowboys, and Eli stepped up nicely. The INT was just inevitable. Most of those slants are in very tight spots, especially since the Cowboys are dropping six or seven into coverage now.
Great start to the season. Really awesome. And now we get to wait until next Monday to do it all again and spend 8 days worrying if OBJ will be able to play. Awesome.
Because it was. It was a clean catch by the DB. The WR (Shepard?) grabbed the ball after the DB already caught it.
the DB got the second foot down... otherwise, the ball still would've been in play... still not sure why the refs are so quick to call it the Cowboys way.

It was only inevitable if you throw the ball into that situation.
I hope McAdoo has a "Plan B" contingency in the event that the O-Line should absolutely suck.
I bet that Diehl and Seubert and O'Hara, with an off-season to get into shape, coulhttp://www.bigblueinteractive.com/information-pages/hall-of-fame-new-york-giants/d outplay these guys.
Hold on... BBI said that the pre-season did not mean anything. It was useless and the performance of our starters in those games meant nothing. We were told that when your QB gets pushed back into your QB in pre-season that those players will suddenly find the strength needed once the regular season begins.
missed a lot of throws, Dak missed some as well. But Dak had protection and a running game. Eli had neither.
The Giants OL is sill the problem Teams are still dropping six or seven on many plays for that reason, a problem that the lack of OBJ simply compounds. Hart and Jerry played poorly. I would at least switch Jerry for Jones.
The Eli of old would have strung 5 fabulous passes together for a TD drive to bring us within a TD before shitting the bed. Playing poorly all game and then totally shitting the bed with a dumbass throw before giving the fans false hope is much easier on the psyche.
Not sure if you or others here were paying attention in the first half. Marshall was wide open OFTEN but Eli was not even looking his way. Mostly because Marshall is not running dump off routes and Eli does not have time to wait. Then, finally he throws to Marshall but it sails in some other unknown direction. So, Marshall is useless?
RE: only 3 points? but BBI said Dallas defense was horrible
Honestly, tonight I am not sure where to place the blame, when it's this bad it's hard to dissect it. Eli had 75% completion percentage but a woeful 5.5 YPa, which makes it hard to assign blame. No protection? Bad playcalling? Not making downfield reads?? Who knows, but Eli certainly hasn't looked sharp--the misses he had tonight all tended to be on longer or more difficult throws.

Nobody on that OL should feel good about cashing their game check. And, I hate to say it, neither should Eli.
Eli and the right side of the line played a bad game a land look like they both did during last season. I wld replace jones at right guard with the Canadian and go with that for the rest of the year. As far as Eli.... this is he swan song.
why the surprise, you knew what we did with the oline (nothing). Giants will let the season go to shit and then release Flowers, etc to make them the scapegoats and justify wrecking the contracts and cap;
would also consider benching Hart, but for Wheeler, not Fluker. Seriously. Wheeler lacks strength, but appears to have the feet to play tackle. Hart was consistently beaten around the edge.
In time for the pick.
Yippee:-(.
But we scored 3.
Yippee :-( :-(.
And the D is getting gassed. A step slower missing tackles, pushed off the line, etc. No blame, just TOP is killing them.
need a young QB that can scramble. I like Eli but this OL isn't built for him.
Ok. Cuz teams are winning championships with scrambling QB's. How about sign a RG or RT and run the football. Passing lanes open and your defense can rest. The Giants used to be built like this. Now not so much.
spent a lot of resources on the OL, but there are still problems. Dallas also spent a lot of resources on its OL, and they are dominant. They really won this game. Prescott was the classic "game manager." We have a very good front four, and had a hard time getting to Dak.
Take for the Giants org. To realize offensive line is important. Every one on this board knows it but the GM DOESNT. Wtf
The Giants have relied too much on thinking that certain players would get better and chemistry would be a big difference. Well, I've seen nothing that would give me any indication that that theory was right. i think they could have done a much better job of bringing in more talent on the Oline, but just didn't happen.
As mentioned above, Eli can't mask the offensive line troubles. He's a statue which just enhances the issue. It's a disastrous combination & Odell has saved our ass on offense since 2014.

Eli is the least of our problems
How about the Giants won't do that. It's only been four years.
but tonight he is just as responsible for the pathetic performance as the O Line... even when not overly pressured he made bad throws, missed open receivers, threw behind or over receivers and generally looks as unathletic as a pro athlete could.
it will be interesting to see what happens if we are .500 through 8-10 games and Eli isn't playing very well.
Holly hell... how in the world this guy isn't the feature of this offense is completely bizarre. And Brandon Marshall not being the feature target in the game is completely McAdoo's fault.
This jackass has multiple handles. Unless of course two *huge* Trainspotting fans both signed up for accounts at the same fucking time.
Having multiple handles and trolling isn't against the rules, unless you happen to mention the CiC or Randy (or God forbid, both in the same sentence).

Yea having a bad oline for what 6 straight years can't be good for your confidence
agree that Eli being a statute compounds the problems of a poor OL, but he is not being benched. That is crazy. And do you really want Smith? Webb isn't even close to ready. Make some changes to the OL. Jerry for Jones, and maybe Wheeler for Hart. Remember with OL, you need very large men with fast feet. That is a really rare combination.
O-line was as expected.. Bad, very bad. No run game at all, no backs can mke a play. Skill players outside of OBJ are purely compliment pieces and are not as good as advertised once OBJ is off the field. Defense was solid but didnt knock my socks off once today. Horrible opening game.
Have a talk with McAdoo, convince him that the O has been bad long enough and consider replacing/making changes at OC.
In this case, the first change would be to get someone else to handle playcalling duties. That should happen pronto, since it's apparent that playcalling has been an issue.
Next up would be removing Sullivan as OC. I'm not sure how much that changes things, seeing as it's technically McAdoo's O, but maybe it's time to start reconsidering that given how ineffective it's been for the past year.

2016 had plenty of moments - it's just impossible for some on BBI to admit it
Eli is fading - they front office knows it, look at how much attention they put on QB this offseason.
With an aging QB you play great defense and run the ball. By the time Eli retires maybe we'll see an effective run game. It is embarrassing that they need to go empty backfield on 3rd and 1 - same bullshit as last year
This team is going nowhere with this OL. Philly's front 7 is going to kill
Eli.
Boy that stunk. Ellie Mae and the offense....yet another sub-20 point output.......
Defense looked decent not great.
Mid- to low-tier team this year would not be a surprise.
one reason is that by the time Eli decides to throw to the check down guy, the defenders have already figured it out.
there was at least 5 times tonight I was yelling at the tv for eli to throw the ball to the guy in the flat or the RB who checked down just past the D line, but he waited and when he finally threw it to that guy the D was right there to stop it for little gain.
The important thing is Odell looked good on sideline. His hair was
Is not Eli. Look at the way he's throwing - barely stepping into any of them, super uncomfortable in the pocket. Very similar to Brady in those two Super Bowls we beat them in.
Problem is squarely the o-line, they get beat, then get into their own head and get beat even more on simple stunts and bull rushes. This is on Reese, period.
Since no one can be trusted, Eli has to unload the ball in one second. Every one of our linemen has either backup ability, or should be playing in the arena league.
Look if Ellie May cannot step into a pass is sails or stalls. He never had the arm strength to throw with his hip parallel to the line of scrimmage.
With a terrible offensive line.......
Anyone predicting their first victory?
SF?
RE: RE: RE: Someone explain to me how Dallas has 2-3 guys
Is the implication that Engram is slow? Or Perkins? Who's the slow guy here, the slot WR or Marshall?
It has nothing to do with speed. It's about play design - the offense has to do things before the snap to create mismatches, and show different looks to create confusion that potentially lead to blown coverages. This is what good offenses do to get their players open. Play design for this team has been very poor for years now.

Marshal is a slug. Elliot is fast, much quicker and faster than Perkins. Williams is fast; Bryce what's his name is fast; Beasley is very quick. The Dallas lb's and db's are fast, their D-line is very quick. We needed to get quicker and faster and Jerry showed up with 30+ Marshall and a FB/TE. The only player we have on offense with Dallas-type speed and quickness is ODB. Engram we'll see, but he won't be exhibiting speed and quickness running the 3 yard outs which are a "feature" of this offense.
LOL I can't believe you went through the game thread too
Why are they even bothering?

I mean its funny to see FMIC at like a whiner but my god
Ahh too funny for all you losers out there that thinks Eli is the problem never mind .
This offensive philosophy if thats what you want tto call it is just about as bad as the offensive line Eli has to protect him .
It showed all of last year and the year before and all pre-season and you expected improvement ?
The D is going to have to score I think. Offense cannot have TOs
Given this Offense's results the last several season, I'd say it's illogical to believe anything else, until they prove otherwise.
Let's go GMen!!
Sorry, if we can't move the ball
Let's go GMen!!
Win I sleep well
Lose and I'm staring at the ceiling
Let's play baby!!
AMEN!
Don't worry about Eli! He always comes to play. If they protect him, we win.
Who is surprised by this?
Also expected more from the "best RT in the league".
We can blame the OL on that one but I also think play design and possibly route running had a lot to do with it too.
Shitty play calling and scheme. This is it

Dallas are about to get 3 at least.

yeah maybe but we also can do more to stop the drive. ON that play you are referring to, the LB did not fill the hole soon enough. Zeke blocked him beyond the line of scrimmage. IMO, that allowed Dak to get that close to a first down.
Yes it was, it didn't hit the ground
to be fair, That was a nice catch
But, how is JPP being tackled by Collins not a hold?
It's the Cowboy way
But, how is JPP being tackled by Collins not a hold?
It is.
Yea, he was doing it again before the break.
Mac needs to learn this.
Dez was pretty well covered twice
Seems like we were flat every game last year to start. Hopefully they figure something out.

But, the terrible spot completely changes field position and the blow to the head overlooked enhances it. Both were egregiously bad calls.

Didn't notice it. Sorry
Answer NO
The Cowboys don't even have a good pass rush
Dallas have no one on this dline, and they're getting there on every single play.
Come one defense, change the field!
We are going nowhere until this guy is replaced.
The defense might actually have to score some digits for us
Nope! That was real pressure. Too much pressure that he he will feel all night long because the Giants management does not understand how important it is to have a good offensive line!
And you can't say that they do after 5 years of a shit line!
Mook, we had the worst OL in the league last year. Please tell me what changes we made this off season to give us any hope that it would be much different.
This is not a result of injuries or bad luck. This is a result of ridiculously poor drafting and work in free agency.
He's done a nice job elsewhere, but a bad offensive line will wreck a season
are they giving something on the side to Reese?
Early returns say they will.
Thanks Jerry.

Jerry was pushed back right into Eli, he had to move. The other guys did ok. Hart pushed his guy behind Eli after getting beat initially. Jerry just sucks.
Whatever. Jerry is a discrace.
Flowers, Pugh, Richburg have been OK. Jerry and Hart couldn't block one of us right now
That's playcalling.
Many on here will disagree, but the state of the offensive line over the last few years is a fireable offense when it comes to Reese
These "men" just don't have it anymore. Millennials.

Been saying it for years.
If our franchise player isn't 100%, we don't want him on the field.
Exactly and where are those play calls?
Quote:
just to get going. Can't block too long with this line.

McAdoo is from the McCarthy school of basic WCO's and out execution. We don't out execute shit.
Beckham's looks are the only thing 'magnificent' about the Giants' 'offense.'
If the offense can't get anything going soon to spell the defense we're fucked.
The defense has played the entire quarter.
It was Thomas
Idk they're weird
Agree, holding much worse than call on the Giants
Good. I hope almost hope they do
Apple is playing hurt. Doesn't look right
We got that in writing, luckily.
They are tired already. If the offense can't get something going the Giants are gonna get blown out
What he actually said was that his RTs were the best.
That was the first quarter
Complete China doll. They need to start running some stunt blitzes. Front four isn't generating enough pressure.
Time to wake up Giants. This game counts.
They're about to blow us out. Defense has been on the field for an entire quarter. The offense is its usual shit show. It's McCarthy's shit system without a oline and without a generational talent at QB, and we don't even have McCarthy's calibre of playcalling. It's fucking stone age football.
Come on Britt, hard for any offense to run when there's no fucking time to throw the ball.
Quote:
Dallas scores a TD i am outta here

Same, I'd actually sign up for the TD just so he's gone.
and that this might spell the game basically?
The team doesn't look ready or fired up.
Be out there as a decoy.
Giants had two 3 & Outs. How is that 3 plays?
There isn't any gameplan that can save an offense when the OL is playing this badly.
They look worse than they have since 2013 tonight against a shit pass rush and there's nothing McAdoo or Eli can do about it.
Swell.
Offense has got to get it going!
Good stop.
How about some plays now offense?
Take away the dink and dunk bullshit and make him beat you deep.
You realize these 26 plays in the first quarter on defense is going to be relevant as the game goes on.
Defense is doing great, they can't play all game and they can't score. So, yeah, it's going to be a problem if our offense continues to look like it did last year.
Absolutely!! Need a good drive here!
It's the second quarter of the first game of the season. Jeeesh!!
Take away the dink and dunk bullshit and make him beat you deep.
They completed pass to Butler earlier
Probably last miss was 2011
Ridiculous! Not even half time yet! Have a little faith. I know it's hard when we have elementary school talent on the o-line.

Terrible throw from Eli there.
Because our offensive line is the worst in the league. And has been for a while

Agreed. Never thought he was good.
Lee diagnosed it, the route was designed for the LB (Lee) to run with the player on the slant. He didn't. The throw was high as well.
That is the play design, not on Shepard. Eli with the high throw too
Starting to agree w you. Maybe he needs to hand over the play calling to someone else.

No time to get him the ball. Every pass has been short.
From a philosophical point of view I can't stand his offense. And yes I don't have confidence either

And why does Sean Lee always seem to be a step ahead of ELi?

Sullivan is worthless as an oc,and I'm starting to get convinced McAdoo is shit as a playcaller. I gave him all last year, but same old shit year it appears.

We will need the D to win this for us but the O can't stay on the field long enough to rest the D so as the game goes on they will be winded.
Perkins hasn't been bad, but as soon as there's contact that's it. His jump cut is normally good for getting 2 or 3 yards but he's got no power and no top end speed.

Yep. They'll be done before halftime and even more since this is first game of season
And they are only down 6. Roles reversed these are the games we have seen the Giants lose. Lack of killer instinct.

offense is putting on a putrid half. It does not even look like a professional unit. D must win game on its own and score.
What would you like him to do when our one deep threat is out and our line can't block with a QB who can't move?
Way to go Jerry. Eli's gonna be spooked all year.
Might be time to lower expectations for 2017.
Cowboys DB Orlando Scandrick ruled OUT with a hand injury
So have many people. Anyone who thought the line was suddenly going to go from being the worst in the league to average is a god damn fool. They are bad players, and the depth behind them is even worse.
We saw this OL with Gilbride. It was called 2013. It doesn't work any better.
Yeah he can call a time out or he can throw the flag. But he can't be on the field.
Momentum changing jackets.
Cowboys DB Orlando Scandrick ruled OUT with a hand injury
And yet we won't be able to move the ball on a team missing 3/4th's of it's starting D line, and with absolutely no one at CB.
Yes. The game plan is to repeatedly not throw the ball more than 5 yards down field until it works
Quote:
This is getting horribly called by him

Not call obvious screen passes?
We are not playing a good D right now and yet we lose one plkayer and they look all world..Give me a fucking break
Way to go Jerry. Eli's gonna be spooked all year.
Might be time to lower expectations for 2017.
Reese has failed miserably to improve it, and didn't even bother trying to fix it this off-season.
I know people don't like to give away draft picks, but we are essentially punting Eli's last few years unless the offensive line improves.
B/c the o line can't hold them longer than 2 seconds
offense needs to get into a groove. defense playing pretty well
We can run, but then we just stop it's driving me nuts.
You can't throw it downfield when there's no times!
Way to go Jerry. Eli's gonna be spooked all year.
Might be time to lower expectations for 2017.
You'd think he would have communicated this to Reese.

F$&king Tom Brady would look like shit behind this line! Child Please!
Have to admit, didn't not think the same thing.
May as well have Maxine Waters playing QB.
Watching this team isn't fun. Even when they win, it's not fun. Even if they end up winning this game some how, watching this game won't be time well spent.
We are being killed on the sweep by Elliott.
fatigue
And I want a real god damned rb on this team.
They need halftime to rest up
Agree. Eli isn't to blame. No run game, no rhythm, no weapons.
May as well have Maxine Waters playing QB.
McAdoo should put 2 TEs in ba field th help block. The play calling is ridiculous!
WTF did OBJ do wrong?
May as well have Maxine Waters playing QB.
He wasn't spooked in 2014 or 2015.
He is right now though, maybe not fixably so either, and Jerry Reese deserves to ripped to shreds for what he's done with the OL to bring us to this point.
I call it like I see it, and trust me, I hate to be right on this.
On 7completed passes!!!
Quote:
This Oline a shit and the HC is Shit as well!

Yeah Brandon Marshall isn't a weapon. When Eli has had time he's still done nothing. Yes, the OL absolutely sucks but so does Eli thus far.
Dallas playing a very smart game. Not a lot of chances for takeaways. Just running over us.
You know, Eli is my favorite player and Reese deserves some blame and so does the Oline, but if you can't see Eli is somewhat contributing to this, I am not sure what to tell you, other than to watch more closely.
It's not on anybody.
Might go down 13-0 at halftime, and unless O wakes up, final score will be 55-0
And to boot, I'm also a Mets fan.

We're the worst of the worst. If O-line play is so bad across the league, what does it say about us that we're the second worst in the whole league?

Has Eli even thrown a pass more than 10 yards?

On the evidence of the last year or so, he does.
He should be fucking scared, it's a jailbreak every play and has been.
Good to see you're just as shitty on football threads as you are on the baseball threads.
Have to feel bad for this defense.
And Eli has to play better. I know the line sucks, but he's shitting his pants out there.
It is never over until it is over, but this O is inept and the D has played too many snaps. Not looking good.
don't call their linemen tackling people
just BS.
Some me like a.bunch of chumps.
It's even halftime of game 1. It's only a 2 score game.

Your problem is you picked any Giants player not named Odell, knowing full well how bad our line is
We need an OL coach, an OC, and a new HC. I forgot: we have the brilliant, if laconic, Ben.
They should given us lack of toughness and pussy effort.
He is scared shitless back there. Like he just wants to get on the bus and go home

Fuck him. Man up or take yourself out of the game. Playing like a latter day David Carr is doing no one any favours.
Why?
We need someone else in charge of the offense
But Marshall also wasn't open.
An average HS QB makes that throw more often than not.
Nice! I laughed.
But Marshall also wasn't open.
He was WIDE open
We need someone else in charge of the offense
He's not. McCarthy's system is about as vanilla and shit a WCO as it's possible to get, McAdoo runs it basically by the book, he just doesn't have Rodgers to make it look competent.
They were 13-3 last year. They have a good team.
And they're so tired they can bring Dak down.
That was true to some extent, but there have been some very badly missed throws
Halftime change has to be to bench Jerry. Prescott slips away for a first down. We'll be lucky if they just kick a FG.
This is the worst half of offensive football I can remember from the Giants. I think we only have two first downs. Shepard's catch, and Darkwa's run.

There were 2 other receivers open that he also could have thrown too. Terrible by Eli.

They fucking have a defense missing half of it's starters and with their only cornerback with any experience out injured. If you can't move the ball on this, you're not ever going to be able to move the ball.

You should probably stop watching football because you have no idea what you've been watching for the last 13 years
The Offense has hit an all time low, and that is saying something for a guy who has watched this team for 4 decades...
Just what in the hell is the gameplan here??
LMAO this is this tools 3rd post about OBJ and how he looks
Really surprised, frankly. I thought they'd come out with some fire tonight.

Jerry lucked into this oline. Collins was just a shady deal. Fredrick they picked literally because everyone else they liked in the first round got picked. Martin was a similar deal.
If the first 2-3 games go like this, I'd say fire him and put Spags in charge. Couldn't be worse.
No, we'd like to go to the playoffs again this year.

Can't really argue with this post...
My eyes are closing. It's so boring.
OBJ hurt in preseason, Eli looking like toast just like last year. McAdoo/Sullivan completely over his head. Marshall not on the same page. Even Engram looks stiff. And the D perhaps reading too many clippings.
Ugh.
Queue up playoff games from the four Super Bowl seasons for re-watching.

Bad O line play, but damn, Eli is not dialed in at all.
Still time. But I don't expect much. Not looking like that.
Dallas' DBs were a 'concern' pre-game. The real concerns are the Giants' offensive coaches and players.
eli is just putrid...maybe he is scared but he locks on to one receiver, is so unathletic and just isn't very accurate. maybe it's just one bad half but I don't think so...
and the playcalling is criminal.
Have these played together before?
The o line is offensive
putridly offensive.
E-Wreck is already mid-season form.
If Eli cannot set his feet he cannot throw.
He cannot throw a two yard pass on third and four.......
A startlingly bad start.
To Double EE? Less than 5?
So all of a sudden Eli is going to feel comfortable throwing to the two of them?
Dallas is rushing 4 and Eli is having to move around in the pocket.....everything he is throwing is short, and he basically is throwing against 7 defenders....the Giants are not stretching the field and making it easy for the Dallas defense...
But then again, my 12 year old son could disrupt our Offense.
What are we doing??
Maybe just maybe we give this some time??
It's a legitimate point. There's no way we're this bad. And it's not just OBJ's absence. I doubt we win this, but we'll bounce back.

Bc the dumb coach is too busy trying to go 3 WRs with Lewis in the game.
Being out coached as much as anything else
Sucks to wait all off season for them to perform this poorly.

Because when he runs a slant, he takes two players with him, allowing the two yard passes to go for 5. When Shepard runs a slant, they go we'll tackle him later.
You know, the usual.....
Is that all on the offensive line, or are the wheels coming off on our aging star QB?
Or, both?
I'd settle for a series of 3 first downs first.
You left out the helmet to helmet hit on Shepard.

Nobody is against patience and, of course, one half is not out sesson or even a definitive indication of how our season will go, but when you see same trend from last year, when you see your aging QB miss two wide open WRs, I get the pessimism and it's not uncalled for

I'm just surprised we've not had the duck and chuck yet. It's coming but to get through a half without it is relatively impressive.
I'm hoping maybe this vary pathetic shit show will finally convince JR that you can't win without a decent o-line.
I'm hopeful.
I know the coaches see enough to know better, but the time to bench Jerry if for only the message it sends is now.
I don't understand the use of personnel. If you acquire these players use them to your advantage.
He sucked to the tone of 11-5 last year, whateveryourlasthandlewas.
Agreed, after Jerry nearly got him killed on the first drive that was it. His clock sped way way up.
Commit to it? Besides Darwka's one run, what would lead you to that conclusion??
Because the wizard McAdoo hasn't used them as he could.
It's been worse than it should have been for a Cowboys team with a shitty DL that hasn't been blitzing much.
It hasn't been bad enough to justify Eli's poor play when he has had time, though. The throws to Shephard and Marshall were awful.

Yeah. I'm sure they planned. But if the players aren't able to execute anything, doesn't much matter how much planning they did.
Yup. I think Eli is going to start forcing throws out of frustration.
Gonna be a long long season if this is the quality of play. The half time guys aren't even talking about the game. They're talking about next weeks game.
Offensive juggy naught......
Umm. 8 months.
The best thing you can say about him is he was smart enough to completely pull the plug on his O last year and not f#ck it up for the D. Great...
Agree.
Not the reasons we are losing but the NFL's love for the Cowboys is grating. Three awful calls. At least they oicked up the illegal contact flag on us down at the goalline.

This is on one guy. Jerry Reese, no one else.
Correct. But it's STILL aggravating. Before last year, I'd never seen an offense complete three passes in a series, not get penalized and STILL go 3 and out ...
Anyway, this isn't on Eli. If anything, we'd be much worse if he wasn't being so smart with the ball. Dallas is able to drop 7 and get pressure and sop the run with their front four. For instance on that pass to Marshall on 3rd down to themleft in the first half, Lee dropped underneath. There was no place for Eli to put that ball.
That's the problem, right there.
You can still throw with two TEs and and two running backs on the field.
If you watched football today, there has been much more shitty OL play and offenses werent this bad
Unacceptable.
Q. Why does Eli throw the fade passes so often in the red zone?
A. because we complete them 1 out of 10 which is one more than allowing Eli to sit behind that awful O-line. And this is Dallas defense, my lord.
Brandon Marshall has been a weapon so far...
No, and I heard a couple of talking heads this week discussing Perkins. Basically saying he is that he is at this point. What you see is what you get

Sure, but it was not a good spot to do it IMO. They need to get drives going and not waste a throw to a receiver that was not open. I would have accepted him even going to the check down.

Yes
I think Eli is playing fine this half.
It's not a matter of being in sync. He was as open as any receiver in the world will ever be. Quite why the ball was laced in well in front of him I don't know.
No it's not. It's a continuation of last year.
this is not about being in sync. Marshall was standing there and Eli threw it to someone on the sideline
Just ugly across the board. Sloppy, slow and out of sync.
We need Defense to get turnover.
Feels like that was the game
fat guys checking out other guys dongs in the locker room?
Britt, you've become the poster you hated from the previous regime. Expect better from you. You always praised patience and came across as being above those kind of posts.
Stepping on goaline is irrelevant now, it's if ball crosses the plane or not

Yes, he stopped!
Let's fly a banner over MetLife Stadium "sick of three years of impotent offense"

No, Eli led him and Marshall just stood there like a dumb ass.
Marshall has played tonight like he doesn't give a shit. No separation.

Awesome - because you don't know the fucking rule about the ball crossing into the end zone, you blame Harris.
You should've given up in the first quarter like you promised.
No more stupid comments about who needs preseason, please.

If there was even the slightest touch on that pass, it would have been a huge gain. Instead he zipped it 3 yards ahead of the receiver ... no chance.
Nothing wrong with that either...
fire mcadoo tonight
Hate to say it, but the constant seems to be Manning. Just not the same QB. No confidence in his line which is totally understanable.

Hey genius, he had it but ran it into the end zone
Defense has been on the field the whole game. Only let up one td due to a bs pass interfence
They're gassed
you couldn't? wow

they had him swallowed up. thought that was a sack for sure. don't know how Dak got it off.
You are the weirdest dude on the entire internet.
I don't know whether he is or isn't but at this point he should give up the job. I really believe it's the horrendous pieces of shit playing the o line but they don't seem to be going anywhere.
The ball crossed the end line first. You are a fucking embarrassment on this thread, and part of it apparently is because you don't even know what the fuck you're seeing.
And now a pick. It was inevitable. Constantly throwing into such tight windows.
What a dick
Shut the fuck up you dickstain

That's what I said they couldn't even see who had the ball at that point
That's the good news. Prescott is not that good. Hope Dallas pays him franchise QB money.
Best RT IN THE LEAGUE!!!
He be trolling and y'all for for it lol.
He caught it? took like 2-3 steps then the Wr tried to rip it out. That was an iNT all the way.
and yes, I am exaggerating b/c I'm pissed. but only a little.
nothing new
Bad Eli came back at the worst time.
Wtf are you talking about? The guy clearly picked that off. The WR came in late to try and grab it
You're a douche.
Quote:
they call that an INT so fast?
Because it was. It was a clean catch by the DB. The WR (Shepard?) grabbed the ball after the DB already caught it.
Damn. I though Shep might have stripped it from him.

the DB got the second foot down... otherwise, the ball still would've been in play... still not sure why the refs are so quick to call it the Cowboys way.
It was only inevitable if you throw the ball into that situation.

He should have made changesd 6 months ago
lol I guess we could not take advantage of that weak Dallas secondary since we cannot actually block on the offensive line.
Captain check down the entire first half and an awful throw to gift wrap the game for Dallas
May have to re-evaluate that.

Absolutely, but no we need to ban Berrylish instead..
Captain check down the entire first half and an awful throw to gift wrap the game for Dallas
Agree. Unfortunately.
Hold on... BBI said that the pre-season did not mean anything. It was useless and the performance of our starters in those games meant nothing. We were told that when your QB gets pushed back into your QB in pre-season that those players will suddenly find the strength needed once the regular season begins.

Never did anything wrong though. Except prove you wrong every single step of the way.
The Giants OL is sill the problem Teams are still dropping six or seven on many plays for that reason, a problem that the lack of OBJ simply compounds. Hart and Jerry played poorly. I would at least switch Jerry for Jones.

One of the worst games I've ever witnessed.
I stayed up for this shit?
Not sure if you or others here were paying attention in the first half. Marshall was wide open OFTEN but Eli was not even looking his way. Mostly because Marshall is not running dump off routes and Eli does not have time to wait. Then, finally he throws to Marshall but it sails in some other unknown direction. So, Marshall is useless?
Wait a minute we need an update from you about OBJ and his hair
good thing for those commercials, our defense needed those opportunities to catch their wind.
Bobby Hart shouldn't even be allowed to board the plane home. Absolute disgrace of an OL.

We have a couple of these games every year. The second half of the playoff game vs the Packers was not much better.
May have to re-evaluate that.
The Giants OL is sill the problem Teams are still dropping six or seven on many plays for that reason, a problem that the lack of OBJ simply compounds. Hart and Jerry played poorly. I would at least switch Jerry for Jones.
Nobody on that OL should feel good about cashing their game check. And, I hate to say it, neither should Eli.
No QB would look good behind this line.
why the surprise, you knew what we did with the oline (nothing). Giants will let the season go to shit and then release Flowers, etc to make them the scapegoats and justify wrecking the contracts and cap;
What changes are you referring to?
Just a fucking disgrace. I can't remember being this mad about the Giants in awhile.

Elimand the Giants can never rise to the hype. It's just disappointing. We can never have that complete team from start to finish. Oh well.
Yippee:-(.
But we scored 3.
Yippee :-( :-(.
And the D is getting gassed. A step slower missing tackles, pushed off the line, etc. No blame, just TOP is killing them.
Ok. Cuz teams are winning championships with scrambling QB's. How about sign a RG or RT and run the football. Passing lanes open and your defense can rest. The Giants used to be built like this. Now not so much.
Eli is the least of our problems
Quote:
its starting to seem pretty clear

That's a little unfair. This is the offense: get the ball out quickly and check down. Eli is just doing what he is supposed to do in this offense.
He's missing dump offs and behind guys. It's been that way since the home Redskin game. He's 36, not 26.
How is it his fault? 2 targets and 2 bad throws. Eli makes an accurate pass on the 2nd target and it's a 30 yard gain.
Eli can't keep looking for Shep and Engram
Eli wasn't great but he is a product of this line and has been for years now. Reese should have been gone years ago for ruining Elis prime years.
Yep. Biggest shocker for me tonight. Everyone knows the OL sucks but I never would've guessed Marshall would be invisible and not even compete.
He's a complete back. Someone Reese has not managed to ever draft.
The Giants have relied too much on thinking that certain players would get better and chemistry would be a big difference. Well, I've seen nothing that would give me any indication that that theory was right. i think they could have done a much better job of bringing in more talent on the Oline, but just didn't happen.
The OL is the problem. Not Marshall. Not "the scheme". They can't block for shit.
Quote:
need a young QB that can scramble. I like Eli but this OL isn't built for him.

How about the Giants won't do that. It's only been four years.
Yes, seriously. He cannot be worse.
I have not heard or seen Flowers' name called which is generally a good thing for a LT). Anyone have any thoughts on his play?
"Hold our beers"
-Giants OL
More like three years
but tonight he is just as responsible for the pathetic performance as the O Line... even when not overly pressured he made bad throws, missed open receivers, threw behind or over receivers and generally looks as unathletic as a pro athlete could.
it will be interesting to see what happens if we are .500 through 8-10 games and Eli isn't playing very well.

Ah shit...

not looking, staring them down. They coached that in the Dallas game prep and was blatantly obvious. Compounded by no looks for Marshall.

Yea having a bad oline for what 6 straight years can't be good for your confidence
Have they actually regressed? Is that possible?
What a shitty night. Just completely bummed.

eli....which has digressed on account of failure of ol and now age showing some cracks
he is looking at year 2 regress. Would not be surprised if we have a losing season and he is fired. Spags would likely do a better job at the helm.
Eli is done. This OL is a disgrace.
Quote:
Within 2 yards of anyone that catches a ball
They have team speed; we don't
Is the implication that Engram is slow? Or Perkins? Who's the slow guy here, the slot WR or Marshall?
The Giants make this decision even more difficult due to neglecting the OL for a number years.
[quote] 36, a QB can certainly and suddenly see a rapid decline. But we'd need to see a lot more than one bad game before making that decision about Eli. [/quote}
Eli.
Defense looked decent not great.
Mid- to low-tier team this year would not be a surprise.
there was at least 5 times tonight I was yelling at the tv for eli to throw the ball to the guy in the flat or the RB who checked down just past the D line, but he waited and when he finally threw it to that guy the D was right there to stop it for little gain.
The football game was not important.
Problem is squarely the o-line, they get beat, then get into their own head and get beat even more on simple stunts and bull rushes. This is on Reese, period.
Did you watch football last season?
The problem is they knew he sucked last year yet we resigned him instead of get a starting caliber player
With a terrible offensive line.......
Anyone predicting their first victory?
SF?

It has nothing to do with speed. It's about play design - the offense has to do things before the snap to create mismatches, and show different looks to create confusion that potentially lead to blown coverages. This is what good offenses do to get their players open. Play design for this team has been very poor for years now.

The problem is the guy who could have replaced him tonight was inactive. He has to be active next week. To put pressure on these guys to do their job.

Ahh too funny for all you losers out there that thinks Eli is the problem never mind .
This offensive philosophy if thats what you want tto call it is just about as bad as the offensive line Eli has to protect him .
It showed all of last year and the year before and all pre-season and you expected improvement ?
