but you've gotta wonder about Coughlins influence on the playcalling. McAdoo's offense within Coughlin's philosophy was really, really good. Eli had some of his best years and they regularly put up points. Now they look like their cleats are tied together.
TC had is Hands on the offense, as well, didn't he?
former offensive coordinators get promoted, try to call plays, fail, pc duties stripped, stand alone oc gets hired; is some uncommon thing.
It has happened a bunch of times in the past, often with positive results.
What continues to puzzle me as with almost everything of the Eli/Coughlin/Reese/Mac era, is why everything needs to take so fucking long when these problems seem so god damn obvious to everyone else
The Giants fired an ineffective OC. His name was Sean Payton. Belichick bombed in Cleveland. Spags bombed with the Rams and Saints, but is putting together good D's again.
I didn't like Benny Mac when he was OC, but hoped for the best as HC. Let's see if he's smart enough to scout himself and make some changes. He's done some good stuff.
Even with a declining Eli.
What we don't have is an OL that he has any confidence in to make the necessary passes comfortably or the runners to run effectively.
This team should be able to put up 30 on a bad day, if the OL wasn't so weak and porous. Thanks JR.
The really disturbing fact regarding the 30 points
Is that the Giants the last year they did that had an Offense that had nobodies on Offense at the end of the year. And yet we still managed to make something happen
Everyone wants to dump on the offensive line and I guess rightfully so but can anyone really tell what this guys offensive philosophy is. All we ever see are shallow crossing routes nothing vertical and a feeble attempt to run the ball. The defenses are packed in so tight against the offense Eli has nowhere to go with the ball. They took only one shot down the field.
I would like to start a petition to get rid of Mike Sullivan and bring back Kevin Gilbride. This offense is non existent.
Even in early 2014 when Odell wasn't playing, the offense had its moments of taking shots down the field. I think Odell masks so many problems, but it is strange how inept the offense is now. Teams like the Jets & Browns can put together sustained drives.
Yeah that will be the total number of points they will have scored in all four games combined. When you look at some of the better defenses they are going to go up against what chance does this offense have.
Non-creative/Predictable play calling, Immobile QB playing without confidence behind a horrendous Oline without support of a running game.
Absolutely correct!! The booth mentioned last nite how we ran the same personnel last yr something like 90% of the time. Thusly the opposition can practice against that formation only. Makes it real easy to game plan. Plus add in the o line, and no running game-that spells disaster
(at least the reason tossed around here anyway) was to have some consistency for Eli. So, Eli would not have to have a new guy come on and possibly have a new system, etc.
At this point, that would have been a better option. The offense has regressed under McAdoo.
On offense. Mac has to put fluke and Jones on ol, darkwa is better option at rb, promote Travis Rudolph since Odell looks to be out for another month. I don't want to hear Travis doesn't play specials
RE: Haven't scored 20 or more since before thanksgiving
Dating back to Week 13 of last year, the Giants haven't cracked the 20-point mark a single time, which is a span of seven games including the playoffs and this year's season opener
Minus his involvement in play calling and how he runs this Offense. It's pathetic, you can't coach scared. It's the same shit as last year, he needs to make changes and not be afraid to be aggressive on offense, I fear he has coughlins stubbornness and won't be willing to change. Who knows, he made some adjustments that I liked after the half. But I scratch my head saying how could you come into this game so unprepared. If he doesn't step it up, The front office needs to threaten takin away his responsibilities as a play caller and hire an OC.

We have a fuckin OC. His name is Sullivan. He needs to be fired.
Adam Gase, rumored to be on our short list. Excellent system that really attacks. The Dolphins have an interesting offense to watch if you ever catch them. He is hands down a better offensive coach than McAdoo based on merit and it's not close.
all good questions/concerns.

Macadoo is officially on the hot seat if the Giants finish below .500 imo

For whatever it's worth.
