Did anyone see the stat graph towards the beginning of the game where they showed a graph that had Eli Manning's % of passing yards through the air?
It showed a steady decline over the last 5 years, all the way to 28th in the NFL last year.
I know we want to get the ball in OBJ's hands as often as possible, and those bubble screens and quick slants are definitely effective, but holy hell I never through the Giants would be one of the worst teams in the NFL in terms of passing the ball downfield.
Yeah, that got me too. I just don't get it. This same offense led to 2 of Eli's best years.
A lot of the routes are not even designed to have guys running. Too many of them have the WR run out a few yards, stop and turn to Eli.
Definitely agree, made that comment last night, a lot of short passes to receivers with their back to the defense, no shot at advancing the ball.
Its not all about mobility. You don't need to be fast to move around buy sometime and have some confidence throwing on the move. In 2011 Eli was off the charts good at it, and he wasn't very mobile back then. He also wasn't afraid to make a mistake. If this team wants success this year the QB needs to stop playing scared.
