Collinsworth on Elliott last night: Forgive us if we ...

Beezer : 9/11/2017 12:22 pm
Found it somewhat annoying last night that early on, Collinsworth said something to the affect of, "There's plenty we could talk about with off-the-field situations for Ezekiel Elliott, but forgive us if we just talk about on-the-field tonight.

Then zero words were spoken - at all - about the biggest story for the NFL leading up to opening Sunday.

Really pissed me off, especially after in the depositions the baby momma allegedly was pregnant with his twins, and after he smacked her, one was miscarried, and later, the story allegedly goes, the second child was aborted due to complications.

So not only is that fuckbag allowed to play, but there's a fucking gag rule on talking about any of it?

Every time that piece of shit "fed himself" after a first down, I wanted to break a baseball across one of his knees. Yes ... really.

I mean, Jesus Christ, just how much power does Jerry Jones wield?

I suppose I wasn't expecting any different. Seems to be so much horse shit with the NFL and situations like this one. So much inconsistency.

And I really don't know what I'd have preferred Collinsworth and Michaels to have said. But at least something ... at least a quick overview of what a scumbag Elliott is, and how much of a sham the commissioner's office truly is.

Pissed me off.

waits until today to appeal?
Not true

Al mentioned it later and even referred to "domestic violence" "ex girlfriend"
it was surprising

considering how much they harp on other inconsequential stuff (e.g. boat party).

That said, where did you see this?

Collinsworth is a terrible announcer

I don't understand why anyone thinks he is good. He sucks.
Agreed
joe48 : 9/11/2017 12:29 pm : link
I still do not understand how the Cowboys got a judge in Texas to overturn this whole deal. I am no student of the law so I guess it comes to the almighty $$$. Cowboys will be dead if Elliott goes down or is sus pended any length of time. Wise guys like him will not last in this league because they are not smart enough to realize people are watching. He will screw up again but next time Goodell won't have to get involved because he will be going to jail.
Didn't see it.
Beezer : 9/11/2017 12:30 pm : link
Heard it at some point last week listening to Clay Travis (Fox Sports Radio) talking about how few were actually reading the available depositions. I have not seem it in writing myself, but Travis talked about it.

He is beyond awful. Last year he carried on about "Deflate Gate" game after game like it was the crime of the century and acts as if Elliott is Mother Theresa. He is horrific.
I was stunned that they didn't bother to mention it
Section331 : 9/11/2017 12:33 pm : link
until the 4th quarter. Collinsworth made some cryptic reference to only talking about Elliott "as a player", since everyone knew what was going on. I actually like CC, but that is bullshit. Do your job.
Maybe I am missing something
robbieballs2003 : 9/11/2017 12:37 pm : link
but why would I want to hear about Elliott's situation during a game? I have heard enough about it already. I want to watch football.

And Collinsworth is one of the best announcers there are.

Is everybody just mad at everything after last night?
elliot
riceneggs : 9/11/2017 12:40 pm : link
Maybe I'm alone on this, but I'm glad it WASN'T discussed. What more can be said about the situation. I just really wanted to watch some football. I mean, we already know how this is going to play out, based on the Brady case. courts, courts, suspended, not suspended, suspended, not suspended, more court, Elliot finally serves a 4 game suspension at the end of the year or next year.

what more would you like to hear about the case, especially during the broadcast?

AGREED

i think everyone is just in their feelings right now.
personally, i didnt want to hear...."and the giants go 3 and out yet again, brandon marshall is a non factor and elliot hit a woman, maybe"

the broadcasting content. I'm sure a gag order was in effect. Anyway, the transcripts make Goody look weak. Also consider that among the tribunal he selected to "try" the case, the only man that he selected was Kenny Houston, HOF S and all-time Cowboy hater. A doctor presented by Zeke's attorneys completely contradicted the league's toady , who said the bruises could be accurately aged by the cell phone photos. That was the "best evidence." And Madame X said to Eliott: I'm white and you're an N. Who do yo think they're going to believe?" And she fucked the ubiquitous Lucky Whitehead, as a measure of sweet revenge. No cross-examination of the accuser . The Justice Department is currently working feverishly to shut down the kangaroo courts that have sprouted up on American campuses. This tribunal was mirrored on those courts.

Article 46 does not give the Commissioner authority to deprive an employee of their constitutional rights. Goody will counter-claim in NYC. Kessler is now in charge of the union's legal team. He and Elliott's attorneys will prevail .
I'm glad they didn't talk about it
Go Terps : 9/11/2017 12:53 pm : link
I don't care, and I don't want to hear about it. I want to hear about the fucking game being played on the field before my eyes.

The broadcasts have become clogged with unimportant off-field garbage designed to rope in the non-fan. I don't need a piece with Tony Dungy asking Dak Prescott about his fucking mom.

Talk about the game being played.

Um he wasn't denied any "Constitutional" rights. This is beyond moronic and parroted for some unknown reason.

The NFL is a private entity which collectively bargained with the NFLPA. That is the way contract law works. Elliot can choose. Or to play for the NFL. More importantly it is explicit In that agreement that the commissioner was given total authority to dole out suspensions.
It was a bargained contract. Why the fuck do people talk about contract law then ignore it when it doesn't fit their "opinion of fair".

This was also decided last year in the Brady case.

Can't stand

Collinsworth but agree with this approach.
I am surprised that no one on the defense took a shot at Elliot

I think Collinsworth jizzed his pants each time Zeke made a jump cut.
You don't talk about allegations...
Dan in the Springs : 9/11/2017 1:12 pm : link
if you don't have evidence that they're true.

There is absolutely no evidence that I've seen of what you're suggesting - that she miscarried because she was smacked and then had to have an abortion.

One of the fetuses wasn't viable, the other was a voluntary abortion on her part. He didn't want the baby. She did at first, then changed her mind. There was no medical reason to abort - reports to the contrary are a lie to make him look bad.

I have a problem with making things up - it's not necessary. There are enough true elements of this story that make him look bad - we shouldn't stoop to untruths just to make it look worse than it really was.
I do care about the EE accusations/investigations
Deej : 9/11/2017 1:12 pm : link
but Im glad they didnt talk about it last night. Last night was about a football game. You can learn about the EE situation at other times.

Just because there is an elephant in the room does not mean you have to talk about it at all times.

do you have any info to support this claim that she was pregnant with twins? You said this the other day but I don't believe it's true. Have not seen it anywhere and I'm in Columbus.

It's a pretty serious accusation to just throw out there
this whole situation with Ezekiel and how there is corruption in nfl
micky : 9/11/2017 1:41 pm : link
yes there is..believe it or not..no matter what is said or believed to contrary. proof is in pudding in this case..$$ from Jones was paid. you say bs? don't be naieve, there was.

like NBA, where it became a "fishy" sport as to fixes, etc, and got me off of that sport about 20 years ago, the NFL has about put me in same position as to say eff this league and sport as it's becoming.

Cris Collinsworth and Al Michaels to take a break from broadcasting the game to moralize a complicated legal case?

Maybe they could have pivoted into NYG's employment of Josh Brown, too.
I'm fine

with not hearing about off-the-field shit during the telecast of the actual game. I mean, come on, there's no shortage of outlets to watch/read about whatever at any other time, but during the actual game, just show me the effing game.

Of abusing the Giants. He beat the Giants like they stole something. Dude was punishing your team.

Meanwhile the Giants running backs were busy trying to make Coach Mc look prescient about backs not being able to run without room.

I love, love, LOVE that Elliott is a Cowboy.
x meadowlander : 9/11/2017 2:13 pm : link
I couldn't have picked a better place for that douchebag to land.

And I would say he hardly punished the Giant D. He wouldn't have had half the carries he did if the Offense showed up at all. Defense played very well against him, I thought - yeah, later in the game, his YPC went up - no shocker, but not a single big-gainer from the leagues rushing leader last season.

BTW - when Harrison was replaced at times, NOTABLE difference.

I mentioned above, Clay Travis mentioned it at some point early to mid-last week. I believe he referenced some of the sworn testimony. I also believe he said he had read it in the sworn testimony.

I id not see/read it myself.

I haven't seen it or heard it anywhere else, and I've been surprised.

Travis does not seem like the kind of sports talk host to embellish. He's pretty brutally straight-ahead.
