Today Will Be a Telling Day

Biteymax22 : 9/12/2017 8:10 am
Typically Tuesday's are the day of the week where most teams work out free agents, and if there are any signings, they come late Tuesday night.

You would have to think the Giants will be looking at OL today, partially because of Sunday's performance, but maybe even more so because of the Hart "Ankle".

If Hart is unable to go what are our options at RT? The team seemed resistant to putting Fluker outside, Wheeler only played LT during the preseason and Jones is interior only. Bisnowaty is the only T on the practice squad, he would not get the call up.

How the veteran workouts today are handled will tell you a lot about Hart's injury as well as the Giants plan to make any changes. Do they trust Wheeler starting for them on the right side? Are they open to moving Fluker back outside? Do we bring a veteran (Jah Reid?) in?
The Giants should

look at the pool of talent that's out there right now, and along with the scouts GM and coaches, and decide who they want to bring in, after the pool of players is narrowed down.

Take the guys that are left, put a big red X through all those guys, and go back to the guys that were ruled out.

Do the opposite -

I realize this isn't happening ... of course ...

But what a headline it would be if the Giants started a completely different offensive line Monday night.

Sign 3-4 FAs today/tomorrow, release a couple guys, and just see what happens.

Sure. It COULD get worse. But oh what fun this place would be!
This is what is going to happen

today - nothing. Maybe Wheeler gets some reps at RT.....

There's nothing they can do except keeping their fingers crossed continuity wins the day.
Um how long have you been a Giants fan?

Nothing is going to happen today.....no trades...no signings....nothing
If you have watched this team for any length of time at all

If Hart can't go, something has to give. There is no RT on the roster right now.

Exactly my point of making this post, if Hart can't go we would have to do something drastic and it would give a good indication of how the Giants really plan to go through the season.

Moving Pugh from LG would be considered a drastic move. They don't have many options on their current roster or practice squad though.
Isn't Wheeler the backup Tackle?
PatersonPlank : 9/12/2017 9:30 am : link
I would assume he would be Harts replacement, unless they decide on Fluker. A drastic move, that could signal a bigger trend, would be Pugh to LT, Flowers to RT, then Fluker or Jones at LG, but I doubt that happens from everything I've seen.

Wheeler is the back up at LT, not RT and he hasn't played or practiced there?! Fluker is the RT back up on the depth chart. He's played the position in San Diego and has practiced in a limited capacity here at RT. IMHO, I think Fluker will be the guy right now. Bis is nowhere close to being a contributor and I get the desire to put Wheeler there, but I think he'd get killed there, at least this year.
Are you really considering starting a backup undrafted
32_Razor : 9/12/2017 10:02 am : link
Tackle in wheeler at tackle? Even the thought of that shows jerry needs to make a trade for tackle if our only option is a undrafted rookie tackle
We all want results, but fans expectations should be moderate

Unlikely to find a grand solution in house or on the street, the time was last offseason.

This. While Pugh could probably slide over to LT without too much trouble, you can't just plant Flowers at RT and expect him to be able to play it. He would have to relearn everything. The only way a change is made at LT is if Flowers is benched.

If Hart can't go, it's Fluker at RT. I think he will be better in the run game, but how much worse can he be at pass pro?
nothing is going to be changed til off season
micky : 9/12/2017 10:04 am : link
or even if at all then too
Fluker's slow feet in pass pro
JonC : 9/12/2017 10:09 am : link
is the problem, it's the main advantage Hart has over him.
Too bad ...
Spider56 : 9/12/2017 11:47 am : link
they can't bring in candidates to replace JR.

Yesterday's analogy to Dave Kingman was perfect ...1 HR for every 4 strikeouts.

He just cannot gauge OL talent.
Is there practice today? I haven't seen any tweets.
