Some general observations

George from PA : 9/12/2017 1:57 pm
The biggest surprise of Sunday night was how well Dallas Defense played. I expected their Hugh overhaul would have made for an easier go....they stepped up.

Now, the hyperbowl that the sky is falling might be true....i suspect not...this team is better then last year's team. So, we must wait and see.

I am not one who will blame the OL for the loss. We know they are a weakness of this team and to be honest they played better then I expected. They were manhandled at times but enough running lanes, enough of a pocket...unfortunately, their expected failures where at the worst times.

Perkins must hit those holes quicker. He looked slower, more hesitant....bench until he starts running like his life depended on it.

Eli must start the game how he started the 2nd half. More assertive.

McAdoo or whoever is calling the plays....must push the envelope....

Too much was expected from the defense....the offense played like the defense would throw a shutout.

The defense played well....(I was expecting more from Apple). I would have thrown a red flag on that bad spot when they actually stopped them on 3rd. The ridiculous PI against Jackrabbit....gave them the TD. Lets give credit to the Dallas OL...they imposed their will but did we miss Hankins? The DL did more against them last year.

Granted, did we start every series on the 10 yard line? Yo, special teams!

My worst moment was when our punt landed on the 3 yard line....and some idiot grabbed and stepped into end zone form touchback. Just horrible.

McAdoo, it's all on you....Detroit was ready and won't be easy.
Dallas ST played excellent

made the Giants start inside their 10 yard line it seemed every possession.

Agree on Perkins, While I like he has more patience as a runner, he may be a little overly patient. Gallman would have been hitting those holes much harder, obviously hard to activate him over Darkwa and Vereen, but hope he get some touches if Perkins continues to not impress.

Dallas imposed their will on us?

I think Dallas benefitted from only 2 first downs by our offense, a bad spot and very questionable PI call Jenkins. IO am not sold on the Dallas defense because we had no offense once again. I was upset when we gave up a 3 and out which turned into a field goal at the end of the first half.

I am sorry but I think Eli Manning has lost his edge. He is too afraid of taking a big hit to be effective. This is a carry over from last year. Hoping this is his last year.

was rational and pretty much spot-on. I question that you're really from PA

I think the ball that we tried to down at the 1 crossed over the goal-line. The gunner, I believe it was Harris, knocked the ball back out, but I believe the call was that it crossed the goal-line.

not the first time I've read that on here recently either.
Generally speaking

your observation on specials is bullshit. The Giants got backed up because the Cowboys moved the ball. The Giants didn't . Hence the tilted field . As far as Apple he played with two bad ankles . The way he limped at the end of the game , I wouldn't expect him to be out there next Monday night. But the punt coverage was great. Dallas fully expects Switzer to take a couple back this season. And I real nice return by Harris was negated by a call that they never showed .

Best post of the day.
Hyperbowl??

I think you need to lay off the Hyperbowl and or the Madden. Your post although well thought out and well written is no where near the game I was watching.

You mention the O-line as if they played good enough for us to win the game. If that was the case then answer this for me, Ho come neither the passing game or the running game was working? You cant tell me that all our RB's Receivers and our QB didn't play well.

The only constant in this equation is the O-Line so it must be the O-Line.

No Dallas's defense didn't play well the Giants Offense - The O-Line made that defense look like a Prow Bowl Unit especially the front 4 of the defense

To the Dallas Defense, two players were hurt last year that hurt the D-line play. Charles Tapper and Maliek Collins, both rookies last year, got hurt early on, and never was able to get a chance to show anything last year. This year in camp they were getting a lot of movement on the D-line, Zack Martin said of Maliek Collins in camp this year, that he was on of the better DTs he has faced. So my point is they might not be as bad as last year showed, inside anyway.
I think that is a false premise, the cowturds played their best and
SterlingArcher : 9/12/2017 8:21 pm : link
beat a bad Giants team. I refuse to give credit to the cowturds but prefer to blame the Giants!

The coaches, the RBs, the WRs.....Eli better figure out how to win.....with this OL. They played as expected.

I would rather have KC, Oak and Dallas OL...which dominate more often then not....but the Giants OL is what it is....

This OL played like expected....poor at times but ok most of the time. If you expected much better....it won't be happening.

I would prefer playing Fluker ...who is heavy handed as McAdoo prefers....can give more push in the running game even if he is not as good as Jerry in pass protection
Let's get one thing straight
Matt M. : 9/13/2017 5:56 am : link
The D did not "impose it's will" on Dallas. Yes, they did a good job bending but not breaking to keep the game within reach. But, they couldn't stop Dallas between the 20s. They got little pressure, they could not stop the run, and they were out there for sustained drives long before theyear were gassed from the O's ineptitude.

I don't think the running game was terrible. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. Both Perkins and Darkwa looked decent; we just didn't feed either the ball. Dark was converted the shirt yardage. To me the OL reared it's head in the passing game. There was constant pressure from all spots.
