Need a recommendation for dinner tonight for a group of colleagues and I (6 or 7). All types of food are open and all price ranges.
I understand it's restaurant week, so if that helps even better with a prix fixe option, but no necessary.
we're all staying at or near the Ritz Carlton on 10 Ave of the Arts off Market Street, if the place is walking distance even better, if not no big deal.
Thanks in advance
thank you. I'll look them up.
Went on OpenTable those look open
Within walking distance I would say check out Alma du Cuba, Estia, R2L, Melograno. If you go further afield, maybe Serpico or Hawthornes.
Depends on what they bring with them...

Barclay prime and butcher & Singer for steaks.
Moshulu (the ship on which Vito Corleone came to America). It's alright. Better space than food.
Ate at the worst bar/pub I've ever been to right off Market street, called Misconduct. No hyperbole. One guy we were with who is in Philly once every 6 weeks to teach one of our classes said he takes all the youngesters there because they can drink cheap and stay within our per diem. Most of the people I was with were very senior and one of them was going to pick up the check (or I would) so most of us didn't care about that.
We didn't get there until after 8 anyway, so not many places were going to be available.
Next night we ate at McCormick and Schmicks which is a chain.
We did go to Genos for lunch yesterday which was the highlight of the philly food scene for me this time.
Oh well maybe next time. Thank you all for your recommendations, next time I'll plan ahead and save this thread.
Where do the locals go?
I don't know Philly well at all, been there maybe a handful of times, once to the old stadium and a couple times mostly just drinking on South Street.

Tony Luke's. John's Roast Pork. Sonny's. Delassandros. Steve's. Even Jim's.

Jim's gets a mention before Phillip's? You're slipping my friend...

Hahaha. I saw your name and immediately knew I forgot Phillips. Jims sucks but I'd rather eat 10 Jims over 1 Geno or Pat.
Have you tried Cleavers yet? I've heard good things but haven't had the chance to stop in yet.

Nah, haven't been to Cleavers yet. My brother will be in for the game next weekend, might have to check it out
