“He’s definitely intriguing,” Joe Girardi said Wednesday of the two-way international star. “Obviously I haven’t seen much of him, I just hear reports about him. I was asked today: ‘Could a guy pitch and DH some?’ And I think it’s possible. I do.
“I think you’d be concerned a little bit the day before his start. But it does create a unique situation where if he’s able to DH, it does kind of open up another spot on your roster. So to me, times where you need to go to a six-man rotation becomes a lot easier with that open spot. And there are some different things you could do.”
Getting way ahead of ourselves, but the AL teams have a leg up if he truly wants to hit. Cashman made the trip to see him just a few weeks ago, and YES even posted on its Facebook page that he's coming to the States next year. It'd be a huge - and cheap - acquisition while we wait for next year's FA class. Link - ( New Window )
First base ump with a terrible call after Frazier boots a sure double Â
awww cute Dwayne Stats and his color guy have been salivating for 2 innings waiting for the 5th because of Garcia's atrocious 5th inning #'s. Like he was ever going to allow more than one baserunner this inning before we saw Green.
Kiermaier's highlight reel versus the Yankees would probably be Â
pulled betances after striking out lefty Morrison . Next batter was a righty so why chappy. But either way they both are wild and Green should be closing by playoff time if you want to correct this mess. These two clowns should take over Greens role

You want Green throwing less innings then? Green is prefect where he is in his fireman role. The middle innings are no less important than the 8th and 9th
Well, he certainly didn't really show it that inning. Â
I give him credit for getting out of it, sure. But he came thisclose to giving up a 2 run lead when there were already 2 outs in the inning before he even came in..

What Green is doing is MORE valuable than closing. He pulled Betances because Souza is 3-9 against Betances and 0-3 against Chapman. In addition, Betances' strikeout of Morrison wasn't exactly a thing of beauty.
you can't trot them out to be closers and give away these games. Let them shit the bed earlier where we have a chance to come back. If you trust those busts to be good enough to be closers then certainly you can trust them to hold the fort like Green

Turning Green into a one inning specialist would be a complete waste.
by the advanced metrics, the Yanks "should" have 8 more wins than they actually do. Talk about bad luck! Boston has 3 extra wins by this metric. FanGraphs - ( New Window )
This nonsense has been spewwed on BBI all year. This is a godamn good baseball team. Their run differential is top 5 in baseball. Since the Sony Gray trade their SP is very good and they have insane bullpen arms. What we thought of this team in March is irrelevant. Who knows what we are a year away from? Tanaka may opt out, we dont know about the prospects, Torres should be good but he's coming off a major injury. The future seems bright but sorry I'm not looking at this year as gravy. I am having fun following them but they should be at least tied with Sox.
RE: Hey do I credit for my first career game thread victory Â
the 2 teams who are 5th and 6th respectively in HR's in the AL combined for all of 4 HR's the whole series(The Yanks hit 1). The Rays scored 5 runs the whole series and the Yanks scored in only 3 of the 27 innings all series. Man the pitching, especially the pens dominated. The pens combined for 23 and 1/3 innings of 1 run ball, with the Rays pen un-scored upon.

The longstanding Yankees tradition of getting beaten late by garbage hitters

Reid Brignac hitting a walk-off homer off Sergio Mitre to beat us 1-0. Ahhh the great Sergio Mitre era.

Yep that walk-off was most definitely dedicated to you Greg.
Green to face Longoria was the right move and it worked.
Huh?
Green starting to look like a closer.
Random thought, does Chad Green's emergence make Betances expendable? Could get a pretty significant return for Dellin in the offseason
I love Clint but he's left a small 3rd world nation on base today...
This is brutal mover-managing
Who else is there?

Hope he doesn't come out for the 9th, though.

I just really don't want to see this guy pitch again this year. It's like getting a root-canal...but worse.

So you cannot swing? Never heard of that. Could understand if it was not a normal swing or stepping across the plate..
Turning Green into a one inning specialist would be a complete waste.
would you rather have your best RP throwing multiple innings wherever needed or the 9th inning only?
Gary had 75 ft open on the right side and still trying to pull.
That will kill them in playoffs
Yes, and hopefully we'll soon find out for sure. Sanchez is up there, too, though - just needs to continue on his current path.
Beaut
Now that was the Chapman we're used to seeing. Good stuff
Another series win. Each success Chapman has, gets him closer to what he was.
So tomorrow they have DRob, Kahnle, Betances, Heller and Shreve.

You get a pat on the back and a handshake rookie. Now get my bags....

eventhough I came in with a 3-0 lead a la Chad Green?

Yea no prob. I was just a September call up because the game thread bullpen was gassed any way. I'm just happy to be here...
