We know Eli and the offense need to step up...But

Sy'56 : 9/15/2017 2:49 pm
I just got done watching the Lions/Cardinals tape....

Their OL needs to be exposed big time. If the NYG is as good as they, and I, make it out to be, they need to put these guys on their heels and get to Stafford. Greg Robinson at LT? Vernon needs to prove his worth against a guy that wasn't good enough to stay on the Rams, arguably the worst OL franchise in recent years. Damon Harrison against the likes of Graham Glasgow and Travis Swanson? Those guys are good athletes but they shouldn't hold ground against him even when double teaming.

Rocky Wagner against Pierre-Paul? If JPP wants to prove he is on another level, this is the night to do it. The "almost got there" and "disruptive" descriptions need to end. This front needs to put Stafford, a guy that will hold on to the ball too long, on his back early and often. We need the old school 6+ sack performance out of this defense, not pressures and QB hits.
Yes

please.
This DL
gmen9892 : 9/15/2017 2:52 pm : link
Is due for a 5+ sack game. Feel like its been awhile. Hoping we can get ahead and let JPP and OV loose on the ends (along with Moss, who I would like to see get more PT).
Now that's what I'm talking about

!!!!
we held
Les in TO : 9/15/2017 3:00 pm : link
the lions to 6 points in December. will need a similar performance from the D on Monday night.
Let them get after the qb
hitdog42 : 9/15/2017 3:01 pm : link
Enough spying and lane contain garbage.

Tell the 2 stud des to go get the qb - that is what we broke the bank for
I couldn't agree more.
Danthebigbluefan : 9/15/2017 3:08 pm : link
It's time for this defense and this DL especially to establish itself as a bonafide pass-rush.

Take me back to that game against Philly a few years ago please..

Come on DL!
We just need the offense to not do what they did in Dallas
Keith : 9/15/2017 3:10 pm : link
and continually put the defense in bad spots. Is that too much to ask? Get this defense 10 pts and we win the game 10-9.
What if

lol
OV was pretty quiet in the Cowboy game,
Section331 : 9/15/2017 3:14 pm : link
it would be a huge help if he stepped up.
And
jpennyva : 9/15/2017 3:20 pm : link
some pick-sixes would be nice as well!
if the defense had not played well in Dallas
Paulie Walnuts : 9/15/2017 3:23 pm : link
Cowboys would have hung 35 on us

Spags was very limited in what he could call because he had to play careful not blitz and give up easy scores as the Offense couldn't score
holding Dallas to 19, only 3 in 2nd half was an amazing job
yes
micky : 9/15/2017 3:27 pm : link
This game is up to the giants defense (as likely to every game this season..til further notice)

but, unfortunately what's going against then is getting gassed by second half if not sooner on account of this offense.

OV got the team's only sack.

JPP needs to get home more often. Don't get me wrong, pressures are nice. But he has to get more sacks. You can pressure a mobile QB, but a mobile QB can escape a pressure, like we saw Dak do a couple times last week. Sacks you can't escape from and they keep the offense in 2nd and long and 3rd long. We need sacks.
*3rd and long.
Dave in Hoboken : 9/15/2017 3:30 pm : link
.
also, Stafford, unlike Eli, has escapability and can pull it down
micky : 9/15/2017 3:32 pm : link
and run at times.so the de can't just go hell bent after him and need to contain in pocket.

Det also
Dankbeerman : 9/15/2017 3:32 pm : link
has a very unexplosive running game. get any kind of lead and we can tee off
Yes agreed...

If Stafford runs to much
Chip : 9/15/2017 4:25 pm : link
He will end up on IR. He is brittle.
Sign me up for this
GiantTuff1 : 9/15/2017 4:29 pm : link
but I'm less worried about the defense from from very good to even better than I am with the offense going from garbage to graveyard soil.

Hopefully we score more than FG's... And hopefully the D holds the Lions to very little. We had a good showing against them last time, which somewhat surprised me, so we'll see.

I think we matchup well with their O.
I totally agree
joeinpa : 9/15/2017 5:09 pm : link
Defense needs to be better. I was not on board with the consensus they played well in Dallas.

Dallas had at least one first down on every drive and entered Giants territory on every drive.

Hardly elite.
Win ugly please
djm : 9/15/2017 7:05 pm : link
And by ugly I mean defensively beautiful. Just win. Right the ship. Let the media and fans go nuts about the offense struggling. As long as we win games there's always time to get going offensively. Just win games please. Now.
A shutout

It may just

C'mon Jimmy, you know we're good for at least a field goal
Defense played well in Dallas
Vanzetti : 9/16/2017 2:25 pm : link
Especially considering how much they were on the field.

But they were not dominant. Dallas moved the ball. Dark had all day to throw and they definitely missed Hankins against the run

I don't think it's realistic to expect any defense to just stop a team from moving the ball, much less a playoff-level team that was legitimately a top-3 rushing offense. Not the place to look for "dominance". They held to 16 points most of the game. That's exceptional work and should have been rewarded with a win of they had even a competent offense.

An elite defense should get at least ONE 3-and-out to help flip the field. Sunday night looked like a very talented Rod Rust unit.
Oh, I'd love to see this

Nothing better than watching an aggressive, effective defense (unless, of course, it's the Cowboy's defense).
D will be better, if
02/03/2008 : 9/17/2017 12:37 am : link
Dallas had a plan to exhaust the D w the no huddle and our O had no plan in the first half. If the D gets some rest, look out!

Detroit is a formidable competitor, so it will be a tight game.
You have to be out of your fucking mind to put any blame on the

defense.
If the pressures
Peppers : 9/17/2017 3:28 am : link
lead to turnovers I'll take them.
