is the tough matchup for us. Even with his size advantage we should put Jenkins on him. Jones is just a guy. If they have 3 with Jones, Tate, and Golladay. Jones is the cover for Apple. Have Jenkins follow Golladay.

Kwall, I wondered about that. Jenkins doesn't back down, but I just wonder about that size differential.

dez is big bodied too. KG is a rookie and doesnt have the route running savy and still prob lacks the knowledge/ability to really use his size to advantage. jenkins will be fine...DRC on tate is good....i worry about apple as he has looked sloppy. detroit doesnt have the same offense dallas does, they will rely on pass all day as i expect under 50 yards rushing allowed...yes i said it under 50....
Eli should somehow be the "Eli of old" -- i.e. stand in the pocket and take a beating on his 36 year old body, and risk injury when the pocket collapses in the less than the 2.5 seconds it takes him to get rid of the ball these days?
He can't be the "Eli of old" until/unless he has enough protection to take 5 and 7 step drops. And he won't have that until they can run the ball. Until then, Eli may well have to duck and cover, and live to fight another play or or another day. Otherwise, you're gonna see Geno Smith and the disaster that entails.

Dave, I understand what you are saying and you are not incorrect, but Eli is playing scared. I think Carl Banks touched upon it when he said the book on Eli now is hit him early and he folds.
The giants have a stubborn coach. He will let the O-line sink the ship without seeing if Jones or Fluker can do a better job of giving the runners some space to run and allowing Eli to call for play action.
How about sending that incredibly fast new Tight End Â
of ours down the seam on the first play from scrimmage Monday Night. He supposedly runs like the wind blows so what Detroit LB is going to hang with him...an instant mismatch.
That's what we got him for...right?

I think he's in self-preservation mode. He'll stand there and take the hit when he can make the play, but when he can't, he's hitting the deck.
You're saying the same thing, just differently. He needs to go back to taking the occasional hit to make the play.
He does get hit more often now, and his protection isn't what it used to be. But it was never some impenetrable steel curtain, and plenty of times back in the day, Eli hung in there to make a throw knowing he was going to take a big hit. He did it a dozen times against SF in the NFCC. That Eli hasn't been around the past couple of years.
We deluded ourselves into thinking that Perkins was more than mediocre Â
If a team ever needed a back who could make something out of nothing. Like Bradshaw. Good runners over 30 with something left in the tank not that expensive or hard to find.
With the season just another loss or two from slipping away (that's what the statistics say), I would go with Vereen. He has the experience and has played with winners. He's a reliable safety valve if Eli can't find a primary receiver in the two seconds he has.

I was saying the same thing about Eli last year as well.
Don’t get me wrong love the guy and he is tough, but I think he is playing scared and afraid of the hit now.
As Eric said it’s easy for me to say but he needs to regain the fuck-it attitude and take a hit for a play sometimes.
He has left a lot of plays on the field that should have been made rather than toss the ball to the sidelines, ground it or roll into the fetal position.
I guess it’s kind of fitting they are celebrating the 42 victory with the escape and catch play. The way Eli has played the past few years if that play were to happen now he would have curled into a ball rather than what is now a historic play.
I hate saying this but the guy needs to nut up the O-line is what it is and if he wants another shot at a ring he will need to take a few lumps in the process and make some plays. It may very well help the O-line if he does because as of now every defense in the league knows if you put pressure on him it’s a lost down.
Agree with the above. Probably need to take some more chances Â
I am actually happy that the talk of SB has shifted to self preservation. Nothing is more annoying that hearing SB talk as if it's a given. No, to win a SB in this league it takes a lot. This team needs to develop toughness. There's just been too much talk and hype from the players that haven't done anything the past few years. You had players on this team saying they could go undefeated, or they are the best in their position. You had coaches talking smack.
Talk is cheap. No toughness, no championship! One thing about Coughlin was he didn't talk smack and he was tough. This team needs to find its grit and the 1st step in that direction is to stfu about any SB or how great we are and get some hard fought wins by putting in the work.
Go Giants! Now we got a season to watch, with expectations finally set where it needs to be.
...at the start with commenting on how poorly the Giants played against Dallas. They were simply NOT competitive against the Cowboys and that is very troubling. A 19-3 game really felt like a 35-0 game.
but as a PR he's ineffective. You'd prefer it the other way around as the KR is not much of a factor. I think the Giants should use Odell as PR full time. The best player in the NFL is also the best PR in the NFL.
What I'm worried about is the same thing I've been worried about since McAdoo got here: the Lions will know everything we're doing and their front 4 will dominate. And now I expect Eli to have a bad game too. Can't remember the last time he had a "wow" game.
The D needs to come out aggressive. Where was Landon Collins last week?
Not sure why Safety coverage isnt giving him more help...

who's quicker?
Evan Engram doing what you say or....
Eli on his back before that?

If the Defense is what we think, they will have to keep it close and force some FGs with short fields.
But scoring so little on Offense is becoming way too much of the new norm...
