section 103 or section 129 would be better?

Looks like 129 may be a little better:

Yankees now have 104 multi-run HRs this season. No other team even has 100.
Now we need the damn

Red Sox to lose...can't believe they came back last night. Rays are useless.
Monty gets thru five for the first time in a while
adamg : 9/16/2017 5:53 pm : link
Under 80 pitches too. Good for him. 5 shut out so far.
How many kids as big as Bird have a beautiful swing like that?
manh george : 9/16/2017 5:56 pm : link
6'4", 220, perfect balance, perfectly smooth swing after missing most of two seasons. And only 24. First base is reserved for him as long as he can stay healthy, despite the naysayers on yesterday's thread.

Paul O'Neil knows whereof he speaks.
Ellsbury is 3-4, RBI Single.
Dave in Hoboken : 9/16/2017 6:06 pm : link
Damn, he's been on fire!

7-0 Good guys.

There schedule is pretty easy the remainder of the season. However, they play Houston the last 3 games of the season. Let's hope the Indians and astros stay within 3 games for the best record so they would try to win the games against the red sux.
Toddfather makes it 9-0
dpinzow : 9/16/2017 7:00 pm : link
2 run HR. His power is picking up at the right time
What is the cumulative score this series?
jgambrosio : 9/16/2017 7:11 pm : link
Like 40-5? Sorry Buck.

Actually it's four games at home vs Astros to close out the season. And the Sox have eight road games left, the Yankees only three on the road. The Giants still have a shot at the division, but it's the three games up ahead against the Twins that are most key. If they can win two of the three, that pretty much locks up home field for the wild card game.

The Yankees have been a hot and cold team all year long, both as a whole and individually. If enough pitchers and hitters are hot at the same time come the playoffs, they could go deep. And right now they have more that are hot than cold. Hope it stays that way.
Shreve is such garbage,
Dave in Hoboken : 9/16/2017 7:30 pm : link
even with a 9-0 lead in the top of the 9th. Just trash.
Is anyone else watching this?!?!?

This is hilarious.

He's been hot and cold like everybody else. He had a 0.82 ERA in May, a 7.04 ERA in June, a 1.80 ERA in July, a 5.73 ERA in August, and September was off to a good start until today.
Shreve's season game log... - ( New Window )
4 walks for Shreve this inning with what was a 9-0 lead.
Dave in Hoboken : 9/16/2017 7:43 pm : link
Incredible.
And he's mercifully taken out.
Dave in Hoboken : 9/16/2017 7:44 pm : link
Getting taken out in the 9th inning with a 9-0 lead.

Doesn't get much worse than that.

4 walks and a 2 run HR given up by him. Wow.
I thought the game was over
B in ALB : 9/16/2017 7:45 pm : link
And now it's 9-2 because Shreve is Shreve.

Now 9-3. Haha. What the fuck.
And now a run balked in.
Dave in Hoboken : 9/16/2017 7:45 pm : link
What are these guys doing?
Incredibly difficult 9th.
Dave in Hoboken : 9/16/2017 7:49 pm : link
But new high-water mark of the year; 16 games over .500
Gallegos ends the game
dpinzow : 9/16/2017 7:50 pm : link
with a K. The 2 run HR wasn't that big a deal in a 9-0 game, it was the 4 walks that Shreve issued that were truly awful

Nothing wrong with being better than Jeter in some aspects of the game. Didi has more power than Jeter could ever dream about. I'm not sure Didi isn't a better all around hitter than Jeter.

Yanks pulled Didi right out of their ass. It's amazing how good this guy is.

Hey, we gave up Shane Greene!

We seem to be using a 6 man rotation with 3 righties (Sevy, Masa and Gray) and 3 lefties (CC, Monty and Garcia). If we get past the wild card and are in a real playoff series, and cut down to 4, who would they be?
Jeter had an astonishing career...
manh george : 9/16/2017 10:17 pm : link
lasting 20 years and averaging 204 hits per 162 games. And, he had some a lifetime BA of .310 with 7 seasons over .320. And, as Didi is doing for the first time in his career, Jeter always seemed to make the important plays--for over 15 years. So, let's not go overboard.

Didi does have more power, more range as a SS than the later years Jeter, and possibly a better arm. And what a sweet stroke he has right now. Very impressive, but Jeter was so great for so long. Yes, Didi is probably better than Jeter was in most of his last 6 years, but those were ages 36-40, and he still managed to get 216 hits at age 38--astonishing.

But yes, Didi was a spectacular addition, and he has already moved Gleyber over to third base for the foreseeable future.

Its also fun to remember that Steinbrenner wanted to trade Mariano for a SS because he didn't think Jeter ws ready. One of the great moves by the late Gene Michael was preventing that--consider the Yankees without both of them.
Fantasy about Judge.
manh george : 9/16/2017 10:23 pm : link
Oversized athletes don't peak at age 25. I loved the split-screen on today's TV game where they compared Judge's swing and Bird's. Bird's is clearly a much more mature swing, using his lower half properly. Judge just muscles the ball, with his preternatural strength. Can you imagine what Judge would be like if he could learn to engage his lower half? Better plate coverage, fewer strikeouts, and exceeding 600 feet.
Is Didi a top 5 or 3

There are a lot of good SS currently. Top 5 in the AL for sure but I don't follow the NL closely enough to opine on all of MLB.

24th HR for Didi. That actually matches Jeter's career high in a season (24 in 1999)
