Prior to todays game, the @Yankees recalled INF Miguel Andjar and RHP Jonathan Holder from Triple-A @swbrailriders.
Castro is pretty much of a mess right now--3 for 27 in the last 7 days.
If we do, this lineup is really impressive--with Sanchez, of course. Sanchez sitting for a day game after a night game, according to a couple of sources. If needed, he will PH for Romine at some point.
Still, Headley has been a revelation--his mechanics look so smooth right now.

Was waiting when Andujar would be a Sept. call up. Nice!

Yup. And when Hicks gets back, we'll be even more deep. So amazing to watch how this team changed in the span of two years.
6'4", 220, perfect balance, perfectly smooth swing after missing most of two seasons. And only 24. First base is reserved for him as long as he can stay healthy, despite the naysayers on yesterday's thread.

There schedule is pretty easy the remainder of the season. However, they play Houston the last 3 games of the season. Let's hope the Indians and astros stay within 3 games for the best record so they would try to win the games against the red sux.

Actually it's four games at home vs Astros to close out the season. And the Sox have eight road games left, the Yankees only three on the road. The Giants still have a shot at the division, but it's the three games up ahead against the Twins that are most key. If they can win two of the three, that pretty much locks up home field for the wild card game.
The Yankees have been a hot and cold team all year long, both as a whole and individually. If enough pitchers and hitters are hot at the same time come the playoffs, they could go deep. And right now they have more that are hot than cold. Hope it stays that way.
even with a 9-0 lead in the top of the 9th. Just trash.
He's been hot and cold like everybody else. He had a 0.82 ERA in May, a 7.04 ERA in June, a 1.80 ERA in July, a 5.73 ERA in August, and September was off to a good start until today. Shreve's season game log... - ( New Window )
4 walks for Shreve this inning with what was a 9-0 lead.
Those are the at bats that win you games..Love this guy
Nothing wrong with being better than Jeter in some aspects of the game. Didi has more power than Jeter could ever dream about. I'm not sure Didi isn't a better all around hitter than Jeter.
Yanks pulled Didi right out of their ass. It's amazing how good this guy is.

Hey, we gave up Shane Greene!
We seem to be using a 6 man rotation with 3 righties (Sevy, Masa and Gray) and 3 lefties (CC, Monty and Garcia). If we get past the wild card and are in a real playoff series, and cut down to 4, who would they be?
lasting 20 years and averaging 204 hits per 162 games. And, he had some a lifetime BA of .310 with 7 seasons over .320. And, as Didi is doing for the first time in his career, Jeter always seemed to make the important plays--for over 15 years. So, let's not go overboard.
Didi does have more power, more range as a SS than the later years Jeter, and possibly a better arm. And what a sweet stroke he has right now. Very impressive, but Jeter was so great for so long. Yes, Didi is probably better than Jeter was in most of his last 6 years, but those were ages 36-40, and he still managed to get 216 hits at age 38--astonishing.
But yes, Didi was a spectacular addition, and he has already moved Gleyber over to third base for the foreseeable future.
Its also fun to remember that Steinbrenner wanted to trade Mariano for a SS because he didn't think Jeter ws ready. One of the great moves by the late Gene Michael was preventing that--consider the Yankees without both of them.
Oversized athletes don't peak at age 25. I loved the split-screen on today's TV game where they compared Judge's swing and Bird's. Bird's is clearly a much more mature swing, using his lower half properly. Judge just muscles the ball, with his preternatural strength. Can you imagine what Judge would be like if he could learn to engage his lower half? Better plate coverage, fewer strikeouts, and exceeding 600 feet.

Yankees now have 104 multi-run HRs this season. No other team even has 100.
Paul O'Neil knows whereof he speaks.
7-0 Good guys.

Doesn't get much worse than that.
4 walks and a 2 run HR given up by him. Wow.
Now 9-3. Haha. What the fuck.

There are a lot of good SS currently. Top 5 in the AL for sure but I don't follow the NL closely enough to opine on all of MLB.
Amazingly, perhaps not. This is an amazing time for the SS position in MLB.

Got to be Sevy, Gray, Masa, and CC, no?
It was Tyree.
He just did it again...

24th HR for Didi. That actually matches Jeter's career high in a season (24 in 1999)
