So I've been thoroughly enjoying watching Denver utterly destroy Dallas... Then my enjoyment was halted.
What's everyone's thoughts on our offense after watching Trevor Siemion absolutely thrash Dallas?
I felt bad Sunday night. I feel worse right now.
translation: dallas offense FAR from dominant right now
non functional at times
Extrapolating what the results would be vs. the Giants is like speculating how many points the Mini Ditka's would score.

The Denver defense looks very good, while the Giants offense has struggled since last season. I don't think i'm making any mighty leap to suggest the Giants offense will be a serious mismatch against denver's defense.

granted..16-5 @ home goungbup til first week of oct..since 2010
but c'mon this giants offense is at its worse if you may not think so.
Now they have the d biting on the run in playaction. It's a bueatiful thing.
Seems like we would have been better off building the best line in the league with a top RB and then let the WRs be just average guys (no OBJ). I think this offense would be more productive that way.
Enjoy the butt kicking DAL is getting, and the one PHI got.

They have certainly tried to rebuild the line. We have 2 1st round picks and a 2nd invested in our line. So saying we didn't try to do something is a false statement.
Just a strange fucking moron.

and was thinking a lot about our offense too. When you look at it, our offense really is built ass backwards. We matched an aging immobile QB at the back end of his career with the worst OL in the league and no running game. So, we have one great weapon to throw to but our QB cannot get him the ball.

Hey neighbor... don't put words in my mouth. If you look at my original post, I did not say that we did not try. I said we have the worst OL in the league.
Now, to the point you were trying to make.. sure they tried. However, they failed AND they knew it before going into this off season. They chose THIS OFF SEASON to focus on other areas of the offense.

Who were we signing with the little amount of cap space we had? Also who would have drafted neighbor?
People under sold how bad our OL is. Easily the worst in the league. Our OL looks like 3 or 4 of the starters got hurt in the preseason.
Good to see Dallas losing but their defense is talentless. Frustrating week 1 loss.
What if we let the season play out -- while, of course, hoping for the best (even though some here would seem to prefer a lousy season so as to blame Reese & McAdoo).
One week at a time. Just win tomorrow. Doesn't matter how pretty. Doesn't matter if the offense looks just ok. Just win. Style points don't matter, especially this early on.
Dallas isn't stopping anyone in a big spot this year. They lost two more corners today.:...

Exactly. And I'll say it again and again, forget about style points. Just get a win. I can already here the bitching that will commence tomorrow even if the Giants win.
Our offense is pathetic. Denver's offense isn't terrific but it's much better than the Giants. Dallas's defense is not good at all.
I m sure you meant nothing by it. But it s a cruel disease and should be off base even here.
Not judging or trying to lecture, I just think maybe you don t truly understand the far reaching impact of that disease.

Yeah, our QB cannot get him the ball... right. Do you even watch football?
TMS : 10:27 pm : link : reply
offense is bottom of the league again. Thanks front office consensus, you suck.
Even if this ends up being true, saying anything is obvious after one game is pure idiocy. Was the Giants defense obviously complete shit after two games in 2007?
Also I have no fear of losing our FA OLs...who'd want any of them?
I love TC as much as anyone on this forum but I really have to ask this question. How many games we win last year?????
God your awful
392 vs. 268 total. Our offense isn't the only unit overrated in the preseason.
Yes, it would've been great to possess the ball longer, give our D a breather and win the ToP...but as we all witnessed, and as Coach pointed out, the D couldn't get themselves of the field.

Different circumstances. Denver controlled the ball. Their D was fresh.
Also, Dallas had the lead against us and ran more to control possession. They threw the ball against Denver.

That is where I have a problem. Jones, who also has his flaws, outplayed Jerry this summer. Yet, Jerry remains the starter and Jones barely put a dent in the snaps with the first unit. Just because we implemented a WCO to combat a bad line doesn't mean we have to put out one of the worst lines we realistically can. I have less problem with Hart because he did improve and he played better than the potential replacements. Let's hope he gets healthy and can show something.
This vaunted defense should not have allowed Zeke 5 or 6 yards on first down. That kept the Cowboys moving down the field. If they were having trouble getting into the backfield they should have sent the DB's like they did last year. If they come out fired up tonight and whip the Lions then we can get our sanity back.

Yeah, that is the aspect I don't get. You are playing your biggest rival, you've had 8 months to prepare for it and you come that flat, that uninspired? Now it's easy to say losing OBJ for that game is a key factor which it is, but we upgraded 2 key spots and added a huge asset to the blocking game with Ellison which should have compensated somewhat for that loss.
But the most worrisome aspect to take from that game was how outcoached we were. How unimaginative and out of rhythm they were on Offense and how uninspired on D. Dallas did not do anything more than sit in Zone and we had no answer for that at all, and that was against a D missing some key players that is avg at best when 100%.
It makes you wonder if those 11 wins last season happened in spite of our coaching not because of it

Hard to explain, but it happens. Remember back to that 2011 first elimination game against the Jets? Until that electrifying 100 yard TD catch by Cruz they had been sleepwalking even though a loss meant the end of the season. After the catch the team woke up.

The 11 wins are fool's gold. So many want to heap praise at Ben's feet for "coaching to the strength of the team" when in fact it was Spags who had the defense playing out of their mind. None of the 11 wins were definitive wins. Sure a win is a win when it comes to the statistical record. But people are being intellectually dishonest with themselves if they consider barely winning over the likes of the Saints and the Bengals as some recognition of dominance. Shoot, our most convincing win last season was against the Browns. Yet somehow with the improvements on offense in the off-season, we were led to believe that the Giants were Superbowl contenders.
Did you guys take the same position when we won the 07 SB scoring only 17 points and holding a prolific offense to 14? Did Spags win that one alone too?
9 plays
9 plays (FG)
15 plays! (FG)
7 plays
7 plays (TD)
7 plays (FG)
I don't see a single three and out. In fact, they didn't force a single three and out in the entire game.
The offense was awful, no doubt. I don't think it would have mattered if they got the ball at the 50 with how poorly everyone played. But the D still didn't help themselves by allowing long, time consuming drives. They weren't blameless in the loss.

What? Are you trying to use one game as an analogy to the last 18 we played? I don't see any logic whatsoever in this comparison. You have arguably the greatest team ever in the NFL vs a better than avg team, you have one game as proof vs a season's worth, you have a whole body of good work to judge by prior to that SB with just the playoffs alone. Each one of those Playoff wins prior to the SB featured good offense and Defense. This is inapplicable in every sense.
There was nothing on Offense this last game and very little to be excited about from last year. We supposedly eliminated our one-dimensionality with the addition of two TE's, Vereen coming back, going with youth at RB, and adding Brandon Marshall. Yet we actually had our worst offensive game in years last Sunday.

Better than avg team = Dallas
100% agree, but we only needed our team to score 20 not 41
I was ecstatic last night.
Dallas gets embarrassed. Eagles lose. Everyone else is 1-1.
Last week was last week. Giants have to take care of business. Lots on the line tonight in the home opener.
FIRED UP! No time for Debbie Downers. LET'S GO!!!
Haven't you heard? After one game, people aren't accepting that "11-5" shit anymore!
Last year + last week we have not seen the same offense McAdoo ran for 2 seasons as OC. I don't buy the OL excuse because this OL is not any worse than the one he was working with as OC. He was brought in to install his version of the WCO in order to combat a terrible OL. In those 2 seasons Eli was perhaps the best we've seen him and the offense was moving the ball and scoring with lestt talent at all the skill positions other than QB. Now, we have better talent, a relatively equal OL (equally bad), and for all intents and purposes the same OC, yet the offense goes huge stretches of looking absolutely inept, has no flow, no obvious purpose or plan, etc. Last week, that was only exacerbated by the absence of OBJ.
Again, I have a hard time criticizing McAdoo as HC. But, I do think he deserves criticism for the offense.
I know overreaction is a BBI staple, but this year it is obscene.
Our defense can, and should have been better that night.
