NFT: Golf trip in January

HeftyLefty : 9/17/2017 9:19 pm
Had a thread the other week but didn't get much response.

Recommendations? Thinking about going for a long weekend w. my dad somewhere. I assume the Carolinas are too cold in January/February.

Amelia Island in Florida, Arizona, where do you recommend?

Very avg golfers, will shoot in 90s when playing decently. Thanks
Las Vegas, Northern Cal (like Pebble Beach, Half Moon Bay, etc).

Or Southern FL (like Doral stuff) would be my suggestions.

Phoenix has good golf too.
Obviously south. Florida will have the most options.

Phoenix averages about 65 degrees in January. That's doable. How Fa as you willing to go? What's the budget?
Cheap airfare to FL

place in the US in January is So. Florida or Southern California.

Look into PGA National in Palm Beach or PGA Village Port St. Lucie. It is high season so rates could be $80-$120 per round - or more. (look into Golf Now). Rates general drop after Noon (between 11 am and 1 pm).

What temp can you tolerate? Maybe Orlando area.
Orlando has some good courses.

Generally it's warm especially coming south. But we can get a frost and/or a freeze and those days believe it or not can be pretty raw. Colder than you would expect. It will warm up as the day goes along so a later tee time isn't to bad. It get's dark 5 5:30 so to get in your round you need to get started by 1. Most courses are real busy so a 4 and a half to 5 hour rounds are not unheard of.

Someone mention Golf Now. Another is Golf Pac speak with someone and get a feel for your prices. You maybe able to do better on your own, but you need to do homework!
Some good course, Orange County National, Falcon's Fire, Disney (most expensive), Highland Reserve, Celebration, Champion's Gate, Harmony Preserve, Southern Dunes ( a little further south but always nice). Many more but can't think right now!

another way to save a few bucks depending on how much effort you want to spend is to rent a house. Generally cheaper than a hotel you can split the cost among the group. Plus it'll have full kitchen so you don't have to go out for every meal.
a pleasure to play golf in Vegas in january
