What is so awful about espn that paying $3 per month to enjoy sports is not worth it? Is it they are owned by Disney? Is it they are the first total sports channel ad thus have built the strongest following? Is it you are not getting cable/satellite all together? Or is it you just like to say you refuse to pay for ESPN because its the en vogue thing to say?
The game is on a local channel in the two markets the teams are based in. They'll get the ESPN feed, i.e., announcers replays, sideline reporter etc. Everyone else has to tune to ESPN.

ESPN costs closer to 9/10 dollars a month as part of your cable bill.

The truth is actually somewhere in the middle (ESPN's median carriage fee is just over $6/mo.), but my question is one that djstat also mentioned: how many people can actually opt out of just ESPN? There are very few a la carte providers out there (and most of them, like Sling TV, still include ESPN in their basic package) - this has been my problem with all of the people who point to ESPN losing subscribers - that's just cable losing subscribers.
