After watching Dallas vs. Denver

blueblood'11 : 9/18/2017 7:31 am
I am more convinced then ever if this crappy I'll conceived offense of McAdoo's could have mustered anything resembling a somewhat coherent capable offense they may win that game. Dallas had all the motivation. Home opener, a revved up crowd, losing twice last year to the Giants, national TV, all that factored into it.

Any middle of the road effort by the offense and who knows. Dallas took their best shots early and often. While some have leveled some criticism of the defense they kept them in the game. It was hot, and the offense was so inept who could blame the defense if they were gassed at times.

I guess you could say the same about yesterday's game but to be fair, Denver just handed it to them right from the start and Dallas asking Dak Prescott to be the main man yesterday didn't work out so well.
Circumstances also played into the game.
jsuds : 9/18/2017 7:52 am : link
McAdoo fails to throw the flag to challenge the initial non-first down. If we three and out them there it may flatten the crowd and improve our field position. Also the blatant blow to the head on Eli on the first sack gets us off our goal line. Those two opportunities at shifting momentum may have been enough to get our O going. We'll see how we feel after tonight. I am heading down to the game from northern VT in a few hours and I believe we will play better on offense.

Giants need to play better. It's as simple as that.
Totally agree. It was closer than you think.

If 30-35 plays or so went our way instead of Dallas we would be 1-0 right now...
Why is so much..

being made of the Dallas/Denver game?

Dallas got their asses whipped in Denver, which was likely to happen no matter what the circumstances. That's the way road games often go early in the year.

Are people extrapolating that the Packers are going to be shit because of their game last night? Are people going to say that Carolina has a shitty offense because they didn't score a TD?

The definitive statements being made as if the Giants are going to have the worst offense in the league based on the correlation to Dallas-Denver just sound moronic.

I mean for Christ's sake, you had a poster yesterday calling Jacoby Brissett a future star because of a decent quarter of play at home.

And I'll point out again that the Giants looked lost on defense in 2007 through 2 games. Did that mean they were going to suck or is each game an entirely different prospect?
You can not read into what the giants are

based onan outcome of a different game, by your logic every team that beat the giants last year should of beat the cowboys?

sometimes teams match up better with different teams

Had the defense not got hot at the end of the year, every team the Giants played last year would have beat them. This is such a poorly coached team from the offensive line to the wide receivers. Denvers starting LT went out last night and they didnt miss a beat. Minnesota is starting 5 new people at O-Line and if their QB doesnt take a week off they are doing just fine. The Giants without Beckham are arguably the worst offense in football. With Beckham they still have trouble scoring.
That's not it at all
blueblood'11 : 9/18/2017 8:40 am : link
It's very simple and no one wants to accept the obvious. This offense stinks and if the defense doesn't do it all they have no chance at this point. They stunk last year even when Beckham was on the field. The Red flags were flying in preseason and they sure as hell did nothing to assuage anyone's fears against a suspect Dallas defense. As a matter of fact they fueled them even more. That's all I'm saying. Let's see what happens tonight.
Truth be told
blueblood'11 : 9/18/2017 8:46 am : link
I really don't give a hoot about any other team and how they did or running all those scenarios. Dallas looked like shit against a good defense. Our defense is as good and was up against it all night because our offense has no spine no plan. Simple as that.
Fatman leaving out the best part - not only is Brissett a future star
jcn56 : 9/18/2017 8:57 am : link
but Indy would be wise to trade Luck and get some picks for him now while they can.

The one thing that people haven't learned about the NFL of the parity era, which is most obvious - is that performance does not usually carry one year into the next. A strong team last year isn't guaranteed to be that this year, and likewise for last year's weak teams.

At this point (and until the third or fourth week of the season), we still don't know who anyone is, Giants included. The first week looked like dogshit, albeit minus Beckham. Can't derive much from that, just hope for better play tonight.

Well, one thing that goes against your post is our offense last week sure the hell looked like the same offense that finished the year last year. That carried over!
I'm glad you belted that one out after not reading the post

Or at least I'm hoping you didn't read it, because if you did, the point that went flying over your head might have hurt someone.

The way I would respond to this is by saying that Denver had some adverse moments early in the game yesterday too. When they were up 7-0, Siemian had Demaryius 10 yards behind the defense for an easy touchdown and didn't see him. Next play is a missed FG that put Dallas in great field position. Denver was good enough to stop them, but then Siemian fumbled and Dallas recovered at the 3. That stretch of plays went from Denver being up 14-0 to the game being tied at 7. Denver regrouped, CJ Anderson ran all over them, there was no answer for Demaryius and Sanders, and off Denver went. I think you can look at the talent Denver has, the Giants have no running back even close to CJ (or Charles for that matter), and Siemian simply played an excellent game.

I think the Giants will play a much better game tonight. Week 1 of the NFL yields the highest degree of over-reaction in all of sports. Travel safely to the game, and enjoy!

WTF on earth are you talking about? Did you really just say if the defense didn't play well down the stretch the Giants lose every game?

That's some serious shit right there...The Giants only won those games last year because the defense played well. IF they hadn't, they lose.

And if Dallas didn't play well on offense they lose every game. If the Pats didn't play well offensively they lose too.

Why do some fans insist on blaming McAdoo for winning with defense? WTF is wrong with this place...
As much as I want to see the Giants crush the Lions tonight
Mike from Ohio : 9/18/2017 10:36 am : link
part of me is looking forward to some of the threads tomorrow if they lose. I guess maybe that is just the silver lining I am already laying out in case things don't go well.

"Throw the last 14 games and draft a QB!"

"Draft nothing but OL next year!"

"If McAdoo challenges the first spot in the Dallas game, this team would be 2-0"

"Strap a dirty bomb to McAdoo and drop him in Pyongyang"

HEY!!

Two years of struggle by the offensive line
joeinpa : 9/18/2017 11:08 am : link
Followed by an atrocious showing in Dallas leads to a lack of confidence.

Fans overreacting to the last thing they ve seen is the norm. But wondering if the offensive line is going to be good enough for this team to be competitive is reasonable
So Joe,
RollBlue : 9/18/2017 11:20 am : link
Is 11-5 considered competitive, or was that mostly due to the play of Newhouse??? Same line is basically back, plus they have Ellison and Engram. But never mind that, it's easier to just make sweeping conclusions based on a game or 2.

Area you serious. 11-5 means the offensive line play was adequate!

My take is they won despite that line s ability to produce a running game, protect Eli, or conduct a 4 minute offense.

I care because it's fucking ruining this site. Why is that so difficult? Whining, bitching, moaning and complaining about EVERYTHING!!! I'm guessing you are one of the constantly disgruntled pain in the asses since you found my post so out of line? Think it it for a second. The freaking Cowboys got spanked and instead of relishing in their agony, multiple threads are started shitting on the Giants. That says all you need to know about these people. And that's obviously including you.

And, as arc said so eloquently, why do you care what I say? Does it really have that much impact on you? Fun, huh?

Nope. I'm not a Debby downer. I'm enjoying tonight's game. And I really don't give a rats ass about you. You have zero relevancy to my life. I just find it funny that you get so riled up.

leading to a punt that the Giants lackadaisically defend resulting in a run back for a TD ... down only 7 yet a complete lack of emotion by the players ... they aren't focused and just don't care ... they're getting paid either way and it looks like collecting a paycheck is their primary focus
