Any potential OL changes for tonight?

Keith : 9/18/2017 11:07 am
I apologize for starting another discussion on the OL, but I haven't seen anything all week. Hart is banged up, if he can't go, is Wheeler in? Fluker? Is Jerry still our starting RG? I thought there'd be a lot more to discuss about the OL this week as far as potential changes, but I've seen nothing.
Coaches are much slower to

Make changes than fans want them to be. It makes sense. When you spend an entire off season making decisions on personel it would be somewhat reactionary to make changes after one game, regardless of what happened in prior seasons
doubt it

Hart wasn't even listed on the final injury report so I assume he's starting, especially since Fluker is questionable.
Guess
ryanmkeane : 9/18/2017 11:22 am : link
would be business as usual if Hart is good to go. If they struggle badly on the first series, I'd expect Jones to replace Jerry.
Yeah.
AcidTest : 9/18/2017 11:35 am : link
I don't think there will be any changes if Hart can go. Maybe after the first half if we aren't moving the ball. But even that isn't a given.
Nope

McAdoo has yet to hold this group accountable for their play

I don't see many options to use at their disposal. The depth, not to mention the starters, leave much to be desired.

Continuity figures to be a better approach than re-arranging the deck chairs for the sake of change (which they've most likely already tried during multiple practices).

I don't necessarily agree...what point would it make if McAdoo just blamed the entire OL for poor play? That'd be really dumb.

I would agree with this. The grass isn't always greener on the other side(or in the back in our case). Curious though, are there reports of them trying different combos in practices because I haven't seen that at all.

Couldn't agree more, just what do you have to do to lose your job on this lousy offense, get Eli killed? There seems to be no competition at all and these guys are guaranteed jobs!
Yeah

Maybe they'll play well for a change.

We've played one game so far. And this is the same group that was playing well towards the end of last year.
TC was slow to make lineup changes, too...

Do you think that they're guaranteed jobs, or is it (frighteningly) that we already have the best five out there of the ragtag bunch on the roster?

Personally, I agree with those who point to the third preseason game - the OL seemed a lot more cohesive with Jones in for Jerry, but at the same time, Hart had a clean sheet for the entire preseason and proved to be a liability last Sunday. So it's a good reminder that we're all operating with a limited amount of info as fans.

So your suggestion is for him to continue making excuses and deflecting any blame while preaching playing heavy-handed in the face of their playing soft, getting pushed around, and botching stunts on 3rd downs despite their continuity being the one redeeming quality this group has to offer? That's a sure way to lose credibility, something McAdoo, as an offensive guy, is growing short on.

Normally, I would agree, but Brett Jones saw some of time with the ones, and while individually, the results were mixed, the offense looked great. I don't think making a change at that spot is a stretch.
Why shake things up?

These guys have been so terrific for a few years now. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Right coach?

That and John Jerry has stunk it up for this team for three years. If anything, he appears to have regressed.
Didn't Hart go on, then come off, then reappear on the injured list?
jcn56 : 9/18/2017 5:13 pm : link
If anything, maybe he sits tonight and there's some shuffling.

He's the coach, not the GM. Fans can demand that the coach cut all 5 lineman for being trash, but that isn't reality.

I really don't get why McAdoo takes the hit here when the issue is obviously talent at OL being insufficient. He didn't sign Jerry to a contract or draft Ereck Flowers. And they are the best that they have to play.
He take a hit because it is his offense we are running for 3 years

Again, it's the players and it's the talent.

Why is the defense good? Did Spagnuolo forget how to coach in 2015 and then re-learn to coach in 2016? Same coach. Same defense.
Come on you can't give a complete pass to McAdoo
montanagiant : 9/18/2017 7:45 pm : link
Same line with much less firepower put some good points up in 2015. There are playcalling and scheming issues galore from last game. Yeah the line is pure ass but they are not being helped with how the game is getting called
