The consensus among Jags fans seems to be that he can't be any worse than Bortles. Should we warn them?
Eh, I don't know how bad he really is. Obviously the Giants were ready to move on from him, but what does that really mean?
I wouldn't be surprised if he saw that he was never going to start with the Giants, and failing a true and fair open competition at QB he became disenchanted and needed a move. Not sure that with work he might not still be a decent QB. At least possible that Nassib > Bortles. I guess we'll find out soon.
I think the Giants saw that Nassib didn't have it. Guys with potential usually show something in preseason games especially when they're going against the scrubs. Nassib showed nothing.
Signing Ryan should be seen more as indictment on Bortles.
Jax had to pick up their his 5th year option as the deadline was in May. By picking up his 5th year option versus potentially placing a franchise tag on him, they saved money in doing so for next year. Of course, the deadline forced them to pickup the option without seeing his improvements that his camp had espoused in the off-season.
If Bortles doesn't improve quickly, he likely will be placed in a protective bubble for the remainder of the season so he doesn't incur an injury that would prohibit him passing a physical in the off-season. If he is injured, then the 5th year option is guaranteed. If he passes a physical, then he can be released without the organization owing him anything.
Nassib hasn't demonstrated anything of note in the NFL, but the HC and OC are familiar with him. Their familiarity along with Tom's endorsement gives Jax a viable option behind Henne to manage games in the event that Bortles is shelved.

Really? He never showed anything in preseason games? Good to know.
If the Jags throw in the towel on Bortles, Henne would start, with Nassib as the backup.

It's hilarious that fans act like Nassib's final preseason was his ONLY preseason with the Giants.

Right? I mean it was clear his time was up with the Giants - he struggled mightily that last preseason and then the injury and no interest from the Giants in bringing him back. I'm good with letting him go, even if he turns out to have a solid career with someone else, it wasn't going to happen here. As I said before, it's my guess that maybe he just burned out of sitting on the bench, stopped putting in the work, and failed to earn another contract.
Sitting at home, thinking about what could have been, it's entirely possible he could re-apply himself and have a decent career.
And there was a preseason just a couple of years ago where he looked better than Eli - we had BBIers saying Eli should be benched for him.

Even in the NFL sometimes lol

really hate when you beat me to the punch on these type of things...
Really don't what kind of NFL QB he is until he plays meaningful snaps. Judging on pre-season games is foolish.

I doubt that, but he's probably the equal of Bortles if not slightly better. I'd like to see him succeed. He's had a nothing career so far.
He was on fire that preseason.

Probably on bar with us letting Ed McCaffrey go.
