The few times they gave him an opportunity, he produced. With a struggling offense, you would think that would result in more opportunities, but it didn't turn out that way. To all who wanted Rudolph to make the roster based on a productive preseason, King had an even better preseason last year, and was the only Giant besides Beckham who has shown an ability to get behind a defense.
Lewis contributes more on special teams and was also our best WR last week (not saying much). Lewis is much better at creating separation (IMO). His hands are another matter though...
are a dime a dozen in the NFL. Well, maybe half a million a dozen, but you get the idea.
Huh? He's probably among the top 10 fastest players in the league. Sure, he's had trouble staying healthy but a calling him a "dime a dozen" silly.
I love how the moment a player is released, waived, or signs elsewhere, he immediately becomes dispensable to BBI.
Well, I guess you mean his all-pro stats speak for themselves, huh? He's been around how many years counting practice squad time and he couldn't rise above sixth WR. Yeah, he's a dime a dozen player no matter how fast he is.

The more common reaction is that an end of the bench player is released and he is immediately made out to be a pro bowler that we are mistakenly letting go...

I have no idea where that's coming from. He ran a 4.47 40 at the Combine, and didn't run at all at Georgia's Pro Day. By all evidence, he has slightly above-average speed for an NFL wideout. Half the corners in the League can outrun him.
bolsters the lb crew taking a hit with the Goodson injury.
I suppose they could bring back King next week if needed
The question that the Grant signing raises in my mind goes to the status of Keenan Robinson.
If Robinson is not close to being activated why not just IR him now and use that slot for Grant?
Is it possible that the staff thinks Robinson is close to being activated and can activate him next week without going the duration of the IR while bringing back King next week and cutting Grant?
The speed demon in camp this summer was Kevin Snead.
bit surprising, but let's remember we were King's fifth team. The league has had a long look at him for several years, although my guess is that he will play for someone this season. Best wishes.
Time will tell whether they were right to keep Robinson on the roster rather than IR him until the bye. Clearly, they still consider him week-to-week rather than month-to-month.
On Robinson already, cost King a roster spot, because
they had to sign Grant from the PS at LB.
It's been about 6 weeks with Robinson already, counting preseason, geez!

It's way too early to gripe about keeping Robinson on the roster. If he's not cleared by Week 6, you can complain.
I think this most likely means that the injury to Goodson may be worse than we thought. (Not saying total gloom and doom but out this week - maybe more) Also may say that Robinson is a way from returning.
On a positive note it could mean they are confident in Beckham's return or perhaps one of the PS receivers has shown well and made King expendable.

Robinson being out this long is very concerning. I like what he brings to the table, but playing LB you gotta think it's only a matter of time before he gets another concussion.

He is a journey man who has bounced around the NFL a bit. If the team doesn't feel he is dispensable, he will most likely be sitting there looking for work if they feel they need him again. It takes more than speed to be a starting WR in the NFL.
King is no world beater, but he made a big play in last year's season finale to knock out the Redskins and then another big play in the playoff game when the big-name Giants receivers were embarrassing themselves with their stone hands and disappearing acts.
It's a cliche to say that the NFL is a "what have you done for me lately league," but there's a reason cliches become cliches.

.
Tell me how you feel if you see Reddick light up Munson
out of the backfield tonight, that I 'complained too early'.
Same crap every year, porous O line, thin at LB,
nothing new around here.
King wasn't good enough to beat out the ghost of Victor Cruz.
Why is special teams value so difficult to understand? Lewis is one of the starting gunners and has shown himself to be almost as good as, if not every bit as good as, Harris in that role. King doesn't offer a lot of extension of value beyond WR. Meanwhile, Lewis stepped in and performed reasonably well given the opportunity last week, even in an overall down week for the offense.
Oh, and then there's health - TK has been hampered since the preseason.
Finally, there's a reason King was a journeyman before he arrived here - he's a JAG.
it logically, acting like a guy with around 7 career receptions is a star simply repressed by the coach and just needs a chance to play, it isn't very likely.
But asking a lot of people around here to be logical is like hoping the lottery is going to be won tomorrow.
Have to stay healthy and contribute to keep a roster spot, I don't blame them. Wish King all the best and hope he catches on somewhere.
I talked to Tavarres King last week and he said he is 100 percent healthy. Was a full participant in practice all week, too. #Giants
I don't believe King status has anything to do with Odell Beckham Jr. Giants went without both last week.

Good question. Neither played against the Cowboys. I was hoping King would be back even if OBJ couldn't go.
King was a just a fast JAG
Special Teams
I'm sure that made the decision easier. Not to mention them wanting to get the TE's more involved.

is rather baffling to me
Special Teams
Very true. Lewis has played well on Specials for sure , he's actually been a plus in his duties

I think other teams have a shot at him first.
Also, I think, but am not positive, that he is still eligible for the practice squad.

I agree with whoever above speculated that he could be re-signed. He could go on and off the roster.
Engram is a better wide receiver than King and Engram isn't really a wide receiver.

Still baffled?
And you'd be the first to complain about special teams if that unit started to underperform. Try to connect the dots for yourself.

Makes me think Odell is feeling much better . Thats the good news .
Lewis sucks. (probably gets at td tonight now that I said that)
