Yeah, the offense has kept them on the field and you have to factor that in. But they have not gotten off the field when they have had opportunities to do so.
19 points is tied for the fewest the Cowboys have scored at home
with Dak and Zeke. The Lions scored 17 points with 1 of their TDs on an extremely short field courtesy of Eli's pick. The Lions barely had 200 yards of total offense going into their final meaningless drive. The defense hasn't been perfect, but they're just about the only thing performing at a professional level on the team.
Defense has been good - but it needs to be better. Expectations were high for this unit, we spent a lot of money, they were mostly excellent last year. We've seen them play a bit better than this and they're going to have to if we want to win games because it's really the only chance we have at this point.
And no, this doesn't mean I think they've been bad... they haven't been bad at all. But unfortunately, good isn't going to be good enough.
come off the field for 3 and out but were killed by poor officiating, the offense turning over the ball in both weeks, and Detroit with a UDFA MLB forced into action late in the week after injuries to the first two options. And missing their top CB.
Stats tell a story, the story they tell right now is that the O is incapable of doing shit, they're being hung out to dry and forced to play from behind.
I told my cousin, it's like having a bike with no wheels and saying "it needs body work."
Missing Jenkins, being 30th in time of possession on offense, and giving up less than 20 points to stafford and cowboy offense... you can pick your bad stats, third downs, whatever. This defense is fine. More than fine. They'll be better too.
Still have to get off the field. Allowing opponents to convert on third down 50% of the time is too high.
And yes, the offense stinks. Even more important for the d to get off of the field
Your inconsistent with your logic though - on that same note, if I tell you that Eli needs to make more plays even with the OL playing poorly, you're willing to write him a pass.
The defense gets hung out to dry - left on the field far too long, the field position game routinely handing the opponent the ball in or close to our territory, turnovers - but it's still on them to go three and out, no excuses.
Doesn't seem fair, to be honest. The defense is far down the list of reasons we haven't won yet this year.

JCN, I don't think your comparison computer, manning is directly affected by the OL. If you want to say the the defense is tiring out later in games in part of the offenses ineptness I agree, the problem is, the defense isn't getting off of the field early in games either it doesn't seem, but it's possible the lions got a majority of their third down conversions later in the game.
JCN, right now offense defense and special teams are contributing to this 0-2 start.
Btw, I am not giving manning a free pass, I feel the qb position struggles with lack of protection. When the an is used to having no protection even plays where he has good protection can be affected, the qb has to find a way around that (not easy), the OL have to find a way to play well enough to earn the Qb's trust

i would expect them to improve in the coming weeks
