under the bus. This is in relation to the delay of game in which Mr. slickback (really starting to dislike McAdoo) blamed Eli for the delay of game. Certainly Eli was at fault but McCaffrey said on Sirius this morning that you don't do that.
He also said it appears there seems to be a rift in the locker room between veteran players and the coach...compared it to 1992 when the Giants players turned their back on Ray Handley.
Frankly, this is McAdoo's offense...it is his job to fix it and he has been doing a shitty job. The play calling is certainly questionable not to mention the issues with the offensive line.
It's coming.
This is gonna feel similar to those "best team money can buy" Bobby Bonilla Mets teams.
If this play and narrative continues for another few weeks, it's inevitable.
That's why he's pissed.
I think Collins is 100% justified here, but this supports the idea...
"Q: How do you approach this week? You meet a division opponent on the road and there seems to be significant changes on the offensive side of the ball?
A: To be honest, those guys have to look themselves in the mirror. They know what they have to do. They have to do it now. I mean, the game is here. It’s here. We are playing ball. It’s the NFL. Once the season is here, we can’t take these steps back. "
I am starting to wonder if in some manner he's trying to deflect potential criticism for Reese's failures to address the Oline. This is a guy who when he arrived stated the quickest way to get good is to build up front, yet that has not been the blueprint. Perhaps he's taking one for the team here.
Agreed. Not to mention, he picked the delay of game? I could understand the mention of the INT or holding the ball too long, but a delay of game penalty with a veteran QB is on the veteran QB, only he and the center know whether they're going to get the ball off in time.
Me too. The GM and Head Coach have been taking shots at Eli since the spring. Since there's no way those two will be fired, they going blame Eli for this disaster.
So, last night I did find it both bad and yet refreshing that he called out Eli. Bad because like others have pointed out here, you want to show full support of your QB publicly. Refreshing because at least under TC, it was never Eli's fault. He had no problem throwing anyone else under the bus other than Eli... not unless I missed something.
The defense is definitely planning a mutiny. I could see it on their faces vs Dallas. However, the thing that may prevent them from creating an internal problem is the fact that they are not doing their job right now either.
Easier to put it on the QB who will always take the blame for his teammates.
Yeah, the delay of game penalty was stupid, and the throw that got picked was behind Engram. Bad throw or rookie in wrong spot? Maybe it was Eli, but we'll never know, because Eli will always take that blame.
But, no run blocking and 5 sacks and he's calling out the QB? He's an asshole.
How about the Marshall drop that changed the game?
How about the special teams?
Or the D that let Detroit run for 130 yards.
No, pile it on Eli, who will take it all with class.
It's probably an arrangement the HC and the QB have made behind closed doors. "I'm gonna put it on you, Eli, even when it isn't on you."
I'd have a lot more respect for the coach if he'd said: "Yeah, Eli had a couple of mistakes, but he didn't get ANY help. The OL didn't protect him, and they couldn't run block, and Brandon Marshall dropped a perfectly thrown ball that might have changed the game."
But no, it's always circle the wagons. It's us against the world. Put it on Eli, cause he can take it.
The OC? As in Mike Sullivan? Here's what his 3+ years as an OC (2 in Tampa, 1+ here) have produced:
> His offenses have ranked, on average, 23rd in points.
> His offenses have ranked, on average, 22nd in yards.
> His offenses have ranked, on average, 22nd in rushing yards.
> His offenses have ranked, on average, 20th in passing yards.
> His offenses have ranked, on average, 15th in turnovers.
You may ultimately be right that McAdoo is in over his head as HC, but you really lose credibility by suggesting that Sullivan is somehow superior as an offensive mind. Even if he might be, there's absolutely NOTHING to back that up.
Easier to put it on the QB who will always take the blame for his teammates.

This narrative that he won't call out the OL is cute and all, but it's flat out false. This was from his post-game presser last night:
A: We go back to work. We have to analyze everything we’re doing. I mean, we can’t pull points out of a hat. We’ve got to get to work. We have to block better, we have to handle the ball better, we can’t turn the ball over, we have to play complete, complementary football and we’re not doing it.
It's literally the first thing he points out as an area in need of improvement.
Also said that o-line shuffles have a history of working, and basically implied there's no downside here.
Fucking Eli is just too good of a human being and is really being a done a disservice playing for this coach & behind this line.
This. He has former teammates connected with the organization ( Armstead maybe? Roman Oben? Charles Way? )
Agree. But I think this actually started in the off season when McAdoo talked about how Eli needed to have quick feet in a dirty pocket. As if Eli's feet were all of the sudden going to become quick.
