Ed McCaffrey blasts McAdoo for throwing Eli

That’s Gold, Jerry : 9/19/2017 8:04 am
under the bus. This is in relation to the delay of game in which Mr. slickback (really starting to dislike McAdoo) blamed Eli for the delay of game. Certainly Eli was at fault but McCaffrey said on Sirius this morning that you don't do that.

He also said it appears there seems to be a rift in the locker room between veteran players and the coach...compared it to 1992 when the Giants players turned their back on Ray Handley.

Frankly, this is McAdoo's offense...it is his job to fix it and he has been doing a shitty job. The play calling is certainly questionable not to mention the issues with the offensive line.

That s pretty serious. Where is the support for that idea
Soon after we lose in Philly

Don't be shocked to read about anonymous players taking shots at the offense.

It's coming.
This is gonna feel similar to those "best team money can buy" Bobby Bonilla Mets teams.

McAdoo loses this team in the coming weeks.

If this play and narrative continues for another few weeks, it's inevitable.

might not be wrong, but he's plugged into the Giants how? If he's telling us stuff going on in Denver behind the scenes, I'd buy it. But McCaffrey isn't exactly in and around the halls of the Giants complex.

Eli fixed his stupid decision.
That's why he's pissed.

I think Collins is 100% justified here, but this supports the idea...

"Q: How do you approach this week? You meet a division opponent on the road and there seems to be significant changes on the offensive side of the ball?

A: To be honest, those guys have to look themselves in the mirror. They know what they have to do. They have to do it now. I mean, the game is here. It’s here. We are playing ball. It’s the NFL. Once the season is here, we can’t take these steps back. "
Not saying he's right but isnt also possible that McCaffrey
Chris684 : 9/19/2017 8:17 am : link
is still plugged in via Banks, Cross or any number of guys he played with who he may have casual conversations with?
I figured they were trying to get them to jump offsides
skifaster : 9/19/2017 8:20 am : link
The penalty was meaningless in terms of kicking the FG. McAdoo needs to talk less.

DonQuixote : 9/19/2017 8:21 am : link
...but Eli blamed himself for that in the presser...Eli said it is up to the QB to get the play snapped or call a time out...pretty simple.

With McAdoo, everyone is open to criticism

except the Oline.

I am starting to wonder if in some manner he's trying to deflect potential criticism for Reese's failures to address the Oline. This is a guy who when he arrived stated the quickest way to get good is to build up front, yet that has not been the blueprint. Perhaps he's taking one for the team here.
Eli and Benjamin

Eli isn't playing to his standard, but to have a second year coach call a 2 time Super Bowl Champion QB out to the press is not a demonstration of leadership, When adversity hit under TC regime, I had confidence TC would find a solution, I don't feel that way about Benjamin

Agreed. Not to mention, he picked the delay of game? I could understand the mention of the INT or holding the ball too long, but a delay of game penalty with a veteran QB is on the veteran QB, only he and the center know whether they're going to get the ball off in time.

Me too. The GM and Head Coach have been taking shots at Eli since the spring. Since there's no way those two will be fired, they going blame Eli for this disaster.

It's a tough situation when the veteran qb and the OC both know more about NFL offense than the NC/playcaller. We'd be better off if Eli called his own plays.
I did not like how McAdoo handled his interviews from the beginning..
EricJ : 9/19/2017 8:48 am : link
and in the end, I really dont care about that if we win. The reporters have boxed him into a corner and made him look foolish at times. For example, last week when asked about what the problem is for the offensive line, he said technique. The follow up question was whether they have been working on that for the past couple of weeks and McAdoo could not answer it and just said "next question".

So, last night I did find it both bad and yet refreshing that he called out Eli. Bad because like others have pointed out here, you want to show full support of your QB publicly. Refreshing because at least under TC, it was never Eli's fault. He had no problem throwing anyone else under the bus other than Eli... not unless I missed something.

The defense is definitely planning a mutiny. I could see it on their faces vs Dallas. However, the thing that may prevent them from creating an internal problem is the fact that they are not doing their job right now either.
He just won't call out the OL
David B. : 9/19/2017 9:03 am : link
For the garbage play they've been delivering. They must be too sensitive for such a public coal-raking.

Easier to put it on the QB who will always take the blame for his teammates.

Yeah, the delay of game penalty was stupid, and the throw that got picked was behind Engram. Bad throw or rookie in wrong spot? Maybe it was Eli, but we'll never know, because Eli will always take that blame.

But, no run blocking and 5 sacks and he's calling out the QB? He's an asshole.

How about the Marshall drop that changed the game?
How about the special teams?
Or the D that let Detroit run for 130 yards.

No, pile it on Eli, who will take it all with class.

It's probably an arrangement the HC and the QB have made behind closed doors. "I'm gonna put it on you, Eli, even when it isn't on you."

I'd have a lot more respect for the coach if he'd said: "Yeah, Eli had a couple of mistakes, but he didn't get ANY help. The OL didn't protect him, and they couldn't run block, and Brandon Marshall dropped a perfectly thrown ball that might have changed the game."

But no, it's always circle the wagons. It's us against the world. Put it on Eli, cause he can take it.

The OC? As in Mike Sullivan? Here's what his 3+ years as an OC (2 in Tampa, 1+ here) have produced:

> His offenses have ranked, on average, 23rd in points.
> His offenses have ranked, on average, 22nd in yards.
> His offenses have ranked, on average, 22nd in rushing yards.
> His offenses have ranked, on average, 20th in passing yards.
> His offenses have ranked, on average, 15th in turnovers.

You may ultimately be right that McAdoo is in over his head as HC, but you really lose credibility by suggesting that Sullivan is somehow superior as an offensive mind. Even if he might be, there's absolutely NOTHING to back that up.

This narrative that he won't call out the OL is cute and all, but it's flat out false. This was from his post-game presser last night:

Quote:
Q: To have scored 13 points in two games, how do you fix it in six days?

A: We go back to work. We have to analyze everything we’re doing. I mean, we can’t pull points out of a hat. We’ve got to get to work. We have to block better, we have to handle the ball better, we can’t turn the ball over, we have to play complete, complementary football and we’re not doing it.

It's literally the first thing he points out as an area in need of improvement.

He is speaking with some inside knowledge. When philly embarrasses this team Sunday, there is going to be a lot of finger pointing. It's just a matter of time.
Ed also said, to hell with looking gimmicky.
Racer : 9/19/2017 9:57 am : link
Do whatever you need to do to run the ball. Heavy sets etc. *Cannot* continue doing what they're doing. Stop looking for big plays down the field; you can't protect long enough to do it.

Also said that o-line shuffles have a history of working, and basically implied there's no downside here.

Just once I wish Eli wasn't such a classy human being. Would love to hear him say"I was basically saving this moron from himself"

Fucking Eli is just too good of a human being and is really being a done a disservice playing for this coach & behind this line.

This. He has former teammates connected with the organization ( Armstead maybe? Roman Oben? Charles Way? )

Agree. But I think this actually started in the off season when McAdoo talked about how Eli needed to have quick feet in a dirty pocket. As if Eli's feet were all of the sudden going to become quick.
