I don't care if the Giants won 11 games last year or not, so don't even bring up last year's win total or compare this team to 2007, etc. The same, exact issues that plagued the team last year (and even the year prior) are still here:
Inability to open holes/run the ball
Inability to pass protect
Inability for secondary receivers to get open
SEVERE red zone inefficiency
Bad playcalling/not utilizing talent efficiently
Bad time management
Is it too early to panic/compare this year's offense to last year? Hell no, it's not. Two games is adequate enough time to present the tale of the tape and it's patently clear that we have a repeat of the same issues.
If you consider that the window is closing on another title, what with Eli getting closer to retirement, it is a sad WASTE of the short time the Giants have left.
Who is to blame for not getting the Giants ready for a new year and addressing the issues that were clearly to blame for the Giants not advancing further last year? Reese and McAdoo.
I've been a huge Reese supporter. I think he's a good judge of talent and has had more hits than misses, but, let's be honest, he really flubbed it here with a) Flowers and b) not addressing the line in free agency/the draft. I understand there are cap issues and money needs to spent wisely, 1st round picks are wasted on OL, yadda, yadda, but to expect better results from the same, exact product is the definition of insanity.
And McAdoo... I'm not impressed. I don't know what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting such lackluster playcalling.
I'm disgusted. Mara really has some explaining to do. First, we point the finger at the defense, then the offense is "broken," well, it's still broken. It's very broken. That's evident after the second game and I don't think that things are really going to change.
/panic
The only thing the Giants could do right now would be to rejig the offensive line similar to what Baltimore did in 2013. As an example, I would move Pugh immediately to left tackle, put Flowers/Hart at RT, Fluker at one of the guard positions and either Jones or Jerry at the second guard spot. The only other choice would be Wheeler but he is nowhere near ready.
Unless they sign someone off the street and I am not sure who is available we are stuck with this group.
our D has been OK, not as good as they were towards the end of the regular season last year, but for the most part getting the job done.
Odell has been injured/hobbled so he hasn't been able to put the team on his back yet like he did last year.
really at this stage to salvage the season all we can hope for is beckham to get back to full health and some changes on the offensive line.
