I miss Kevin Gilbride

Section131 : 9/19/2017 10:17 am
He was the best offensive coordinator. Puts McAdon't to shame. Where are you K-Dog? Please come back!
Gilbride was responsible for some of the most prolific

offenses ever. The Houston Oilers and NY Giants. The guy had a completely different approach than McAdoo. He got pushed out because we stopped moving the ball and everyone blamed his complicated scheme. Looking back with hindsight, it was the beginning of the demise of the OL not his scheme. Eli, like last night, never had time.

executing deeper passing concepts and got Eli killed. Now you want to go back to a system where we ran a lot of 5 and 7 step drops?!! This is why made the fucking change to begin with.
LOL, you think KG's deep passing game
Section331 : 9/19/2017 10:26 am : link
would work with this OL?
You wouldn't miss him,

with this same OL....
I miss Snee, Diehl, O'Hara, Seubert and Mackenzie
bradshaw44 : 9/19/2017 10:29 am : link
And Coughlin first and foremost.
For the 2972nd time...

on 3rd and long last night. That was nothing if not Gilbridesque.
don't forget about his screen plays
Section131 : 9/19/2017 10:32 am : link
It wasnt all long bombs. He had much better play calls than McAdon't has.
We ran him out of town unfairly, he was the best. What a loss.

Agreed, but now we can't even run a 3 step drop without someone getting to Eli.

when they are reaching at straws -- 90% of BBI was vigorously running "Killdrive" out on his keester -- now you want him back?

I get that you're frustrated - but seriously?

Yes but my guess is that Eli has that option to check out of a pass based on how many people are on the box. So basically the right call, but our OL is such trash that they can't even execute that.
Gilbride couldn't teach this line how to block
Ivan15 : 9/19/2017 10:35 am : link
That offense wouldn't work with this line.

He did it at the 11 yard line yesterday with Vereen. No one in the box but Jarrad Davis, he checks to a draw which should gain yards or even a touchdown...but multiple whiffs and penetration means Vereen gets 2 yards.

Oh and Marshall should have scored on that pass. Tripped up by Hoffa...

Well we, and the nation, saw how quickly Ziggy A. got to the QB. He just ran by, around and through Flowers. You can't run an offense when they can't pass block and run block. What the fuck can a coach do? Like I said the menu says chicken marsala, but Reese didn't buy chicken. So now Ben M. has to make chicken marsala without chicken. No wonder it's a shit show.

those deep 25 yard passes on 3rd and 1 and calling 50 passes in hurricane force winds. there is a reason buddy ryan went ape on him.
Another Jerry victim
HomerJones45 : 9/19/2017 10:53 am : link
remember all the talent Jerry handed him: Jernigan, the "JPP of Tight ends", Wilson, Aaron Brown . . .

Jerry is a coach and coordinator killer.

Buddy was a drunken sot and both Ditka and Gilbride showed remarkable restraint in not kicking his fat, drunken ass. Buddy went ape because his vaunted defense couldn't hold a lead.
Gilbride was terrible too

But I do think his offense was better suited to Eli's skill set than is McAdoo's west coast scheme. Eli has been neutered in this offense.

I cant remember the last head coach or coordinator that I felt gave the Giants a true competitive advantage on the field. Possibly Sean Payton back in the 90s but at that time we didnt have near the talent needed to execute.

Ours in an organization run by mediocre intellect, all trying to protect their positions by hiring even less intellectual staff to mask their deficiencies.

Britt, but Diehl had serious currency with this fanbase. Guys like Flowers, Hart, Jerry, etc. don't.
