I would consider a 2 or a 3 with a late round pick in 2019. To fit Joe Thomas under the cap, Eli would have to agree to a pay cut. I dont know if he would. I would be ok with approaching him. He knows he needs blocking.

You're asking the new poster if the rumor you've heard for the first time today is true. Be careful...
matters, but if you're Joe Thomas or Joe Staley, why would you want to leave where you are - in both cases where you've spent your entire career 10+ year career, and join this shit show? It's not like joining the Giants will save them from a year of crap in SF or CLE.
Giants fans have an inflated sense of "outsiders" view of the Giants, nationally right now they're thought of as a team with a good defense, but an old mediocre QB, no running game, a turnstile OL, and Odell Beckham - that is very mediocre overall as a team.

Of course I heard that rumor just like everyone else. I was just curious if there was actually any truth to it.
To let the season play out and when they win a disgraceful 5 or 6 games, go get one of the top QB's and fire Reese and McAdoo, that is the best case scenario and only way this thing is going to get better, wait until you see what the Eagles do to Flowers, McAdoo and the rest of this disgraceful offense. Beckham is going to ask for 20 mil after this, the Giants are sickening right now.
but does anyone doubt a trade is the only way to save the season? Two, or arguably three, starting offensive lineman on this team should not be on the field. The only player (currently) on the bench that should be within sniffing distance of the field is Wheeler, and to get him in the game without risking Eli's life you've got to move Pugh to LT, but I'm not sure he'd be an improvement there over Flowers. Or you could play an undrafted FA at LT.
There are no play calling adjustments to be made. The Giants can't run, so all defenses have to do is sit back in zone, keep the ball in front of them, and wait for Eli to make a mistake or take a sack. It's been half a year's worth of games where this exact scenario has played out over and over.
If Reese doesn't get a veteran offensive lineman (or linemen!) in here soon, the season is over. The Giants cannot win enough games scoring 6.5 points a game, especially with this year's tougher schedule.
I have not seen this level of offensive ineptitude since the Dave Brown / Danny Kanell days, and let's not discuss how fun those teams were to watch.
Might even do a second rounder. Eli isn't going anywhere, his years are numbered. Give him another half a second to a second? Things could get worked out in a hurry.
The Giants organisation is very loyal to their management staff...
Reese will not make a deal, so they are stuck with the disaster he built. We fans will have to bide our time, and watch this team drop further down the toilet. The only thing I hope for is a complete bloodletting at the end of the season. They need to fire the HC/OC/ & GM!
They will also need to choose a decent QB to replace the aged Eli Manning.
This team is spent, this season is going to be a lost cause of mammoth proportions !
First of all, how the hell do you know what "outsiders" think of the Giants? And secondly, the Giants weakness is OL. So if you play OL (Stanley and Thomas) that is why they would be brought here. Your thought process makes no sense. It's like saying that a QB wouldn't want to be traded to a team with a shitty QB.
This team still has a ton of upside if they can somehow improve the OL. To suggest those guys wouldn't want to come here is a bit disingenuous. And comparing the Giants to SF and Cleveland is downright laughable. Sure. The Giants with a guy like Thomas at LT have no more chance at success than the Browns, so why bother coming. Unbelievable.

There's no 5/10 rights in football and it's not like the NBA where the players dictate terms. What makes you think it matters whether the players want to come to the Giants or not?

I said it may not matter - read the first sentence of my post, but I've also read rumors that Joe Thomas may retire if he was traded. Or use the threat of it as leverage for an extension. He's got one year left on his contract.
I wouldn't be surprised if Staley threatened the same if he didn't want to go where he was traded.
Asking again. Was Slade right about anything this offseason?
this line. The only one woth salvaging is Pugh. The rest have proven no better than back ups. That includes Richburg. That pocket collapses on almost every passing down. Fluker is awful, Jerry is done, Hart is a 7th round pick and looks it. For that matter Fluker is a first round pick and looks like a 7th.

Can someone explain the infatuation with Wheeler? What did he show in pre-season to indicate he's ready to play now?

He may not be. The point is that he is best option of anyone on the bench or PS, god help Eli. I'm not saying he's good.
I know this is not typical of the Giants, but I have to believe that both Mac and Jerry are feeling the heat and have to be a little bit scared for their jobs (especially Reese when you consider Gentlemen is looking for work)

The feeling is that he is not strong enough to start at T right now, but he held up reasonably well and showed decent technique pass-blocking during the PS. He is still a work-in-progress.
RE: was Slade right about anything this offseason?
You don't trade a premium pick at this point. They had the whole off-season to fix this thing. You don't trade a pick when we are already in an 0-2 hole. One guy is not going to fix this and one guy is not going to fix this in two games.
If we are that screwed, guess what, you are better off playing Webb out of the freaking shotgun the whole season. That idea is just as dumb but at least it will not cost a premium pick.
Anyone with 2 eyes could see this O-Line needed help. Fireable offense.
Yep.
Or restructure his deal.

Plus they might be drafting in the top 5 of each round. Please no trades for draft picks.

Smells like desperation for a front office that may pay the price and a coaching staff that won't make changes until things are dire.
I wouldn't bother wasting a pick. This team isn't going to the playoffs and I think a new GM and some changes in scouting is sorely needed here.
No-brainer.

Definitely panic/desperation and if this does fall apart those top of the round draft picks will be sorely needed.

Browns play moneyball. They would trade Thomas is the felt the value was fair.

Grudgingly agree, almost on a par with the meta letting Murphy go, let's hope the results aren't the same.

end of story..holy hell
