I like Jones, good Canadian boy, but he seems to get overmatched sometimes. Fluker would be better for the run game. And I would like to see Flowers at RT where a lot of folks think he might excel.
How do you know? Let's say he's better, great! Now you've got Jerry (who should not be on the field) and Wheeler (undrafted FA) next to each other on the right. They'll be able to call a run to that side, what, twice a game?
let alone ready to start. He was pretty bad in preseason against backups -- and the intensity of preseason isn't close to regular season.
I know everyone wants Flowers run out of town on a rail but they are probably going to have to try him at another position before they bench him altogether. They could switch him with Pugh, which is probably the least-disruptive move they could make, or they could try him on the right side.
Pugh - Jones - Richburg - Flowers - Hart
Or, if they're reluctant to move Flowers to the right side:
Pugh - Flowers - Richburg - Jones - Hart
Either could be better than the current lineup. Pugh is probably their best tackle, as well as their best guard.
We really don't know how Flowers would perform at guard, or on the right side.
It kills me when folks make these suggestions at a position that is so hard to judge, especially with virtually no evidence any backup would actually be better.
but..why does everyone think Wheeler is ready to play RT? He was an undrafted free agent and looked OK in preseason...wouldn't he be playing for Hart last night if he was ready?
FLuker and Flowers are better run blockers thank pass blockers but should be blocking in a power or iso style, not draw play out of shot gun. I think Flowers at RT and Fluker at RG would be a place to run behind. Pugh is probably better at LG than LT but the other option at LT is Wheeler and I don't know if he could be any worse than Flowers. So here are my 2 suggestions for revamping the O Line.
Pugh, Jones, Richburg, Fluker, Flowers
or
Wheeler, Pugh, Richburg, Fluker, Flowers
Jerry is a bench player. I do not want him on the field unless we have no other option.
The only logical way to change the offensive line and expect positive results would be as follows:
Wheeler (LT) Pugh (LG) Richburg (C) Jerry (RG) Flowers (RT)
Flowers projected as an RT/RG in the NFL and that's where he belongs.
Just mho but I think Wheeler would be a disaster at left tackle. He played right side all summer, he's not strong enough, he's an undrafted free agent, maybe with some promise down the line, but you want to throw him in against the Iggles front?
You can make the case for Fluker to replace Jerry at RG but I wouldn't do so yet.
In any case, kick Flowers over to the right side, and keep Brett Jones and Bobby Hart off the field at all costs (they are AWFUL).
Wheeler will struggle at LT but not as badly as Flowers and also possesses more upside.
How would any fan know?

Wheeler's a developmental project. He's not ready for significant game action. He struggled as badly or worse than Flowers in preseason, against inferior competition.
What they need to do is change the variables.
Fluker is injured and until that is settled I would consider him at RG over Jerry but Jones plays next to Pugh.
Jones has way better pass pro than both Jerry and Fluker.
BR: Cant think about Fluker until the medical clears. But I am in favor of benching (deep benching) John Jerry.

Sidebar: OBJ appeared to be slipping gears. Still obviously hampered by injury.

Beause they are LCD/ESPN fans, thats why.

Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.
