I welcomed that penalty. Kicking it was the right call.
More importantly, what was McAdoo thinking at the end of the first half? He should have called timeout after the Giants defense got the stop and forced the punt with around a minute left on the clock. Even then, down by 10 with just under 40 seconds to go, they should have tried to move into field goal range. This offense is anemic and you only get so many chances to score.
going for it and failing would have been entirely on Mac. if the coach is comfortable with that, then you justify the confidence, put the team on your back, and make a friggin play.

Until McAdoo blames him for it after the game -- while softening criticism of everyone else -- anyway.
I doubt this is true, but that was a horrendous call by McAdoo and he's lucky for the DoG, however it happened.
kicked there. The idea that this offense could get in the end zone 2 yards out was highly unlikely, and they were not desperate yet. Needed to take the points there.
for it there on 4th and goal from that close. Down by 10 makes it a no brainer. Even if you miss, you give your defense a chance to make a play with DET backed all the way up.

Definitely. This offense is definitely in a position to take points of the board.
No way they were getting that touchdown. Taking the DOG was a real coaching decision made by a veteran QB who wanted to win instead of the arrogant bastard who thinks he's Belichek. Eli will be here well after McDoodle is fired.
especially if this D is as good as it thinks. You go for it and if stopped you hope the D makes a play. Even a 3 and out gets you the ball back in great field position.
They were never going to have any chaotic moments like when Eli told Jennings to not score a touchdown against Dallas because Coughlin had lost his mind and control over the team. He's gone. Matter settled. And McAdoo is the most professional coach that one of the mods on this board has ever seen.
If you watch the play again, you can clearly see Eli lost track of the play clock while going through his pre-snap routine. Because we can't ever seem to get up the LOS with more than 10 sec on the playclock.
Honestly, I don't think he or Richburg knew how much time was left and ultimately that's on the QB. He realized too.
No. It isn't moot. It's the coaches job to get the play called. It's the QB's job to cascade the play call to the other players, make the reads, call oyt protections and audible at the LOS after reads if necessary. It's entirely on Eli to get the play in.
Maybe Mcadoo was delayed in getting the play into Eli, but seeing as how delays of game have plagued this team through the last three offensive coordinators, I'm inclined to think Eli just lapses at times and loses track of the play clock.
Now I've been critical of Eli here for his play but he's always been a consummate professional. There's no way I'm buying the Eli intentionally pulled a Willie Beamon because he didn't like the call.
when McAdoo took over as Offensive Coordinator over Gilbride, was the offense stopped getting tagged for Delay of Game penalties. Literally the most immediate impact of making that change.

While what you say is technically true, DG fell by almost half when McAdoo took over play calling duties, it went right back up the following year.
The constant is Eli and lapses in focus. This is completely independent of OL play/pressure, dropped or tipped passes. It's the QB losing focus in crunch situations and it's as costly as a holding penalty or a false start.
I don't think it was intentional, though.

What the hell does that mean?
I was happy the clock changed the call. You have to make it a one score game there.
B, do you believe slade? Crazy if true.
LOL
stress eating?

Please.
Three seasons under McAdoo before now, Eli has had 1, 5, and 1 (league leaders had 7, 7, and 6).
It hasn't been the issue some Giant fans think or still think it is.
100% Manning took that delay of game on purpose. He's making up for the coach's stupidity.
This whole time I never knew I was Slade's source.
Explains why he's always wrong.
...or something like that.

have a history of delay of games, i'd believe it. No chance that is what happened.

How many times have we wasted a timeout because the play clock is down to 1?
Idiotic call there by McAdoo.

Given how fast the Giants played under McAdoo those three seasons, not likely that many or more than most QBs.

Yup, me too. It was a stupid decision to go for it with this offense, at that time. Take the points and move on.

Not the first time Slade has bullshitted here.

Offensive Delay of Game penalties
2012 (Gilbride) - 2
2013 (Gilbride) - 7
2014 (McAdoo) - 4
2015 (McAdoo) - 7
2016 (McAdoo) - 2

That was "floating around Met Life" yesterday. Intentional Delay of game..... Brilliant
