He said 49ers would be excellent team to trade with as they are rebuilding and Giants could offer a high draft pick to get staley because they also have a good backup,
or the fact that he almost missed this week due to tendinitis in his knee - does it matter that the 49ers aren't interested in trading him? Or that the prior FO staff that was wanted a first round pick?
Plus - if we're able to just trade whatever we want for whomever we want regardless of the other team's demands, can we get Khalil Mack instead?

But wouldn't this be a good move for the Niners? Makes a lot of sense for them.
Keep all assets. Hope we totally bomb and finish with 4 or less wins, which is not out of the realm of possibility. Hopefully the idiot GM is finally canned and we move forward. Remember, this is the 6th youngest roster in football and it is hardly devoid of talent. Get into position to get the next franchise QB and move on.
Diehl was scorched once too. He was moved to RT, Guard and ended up playing LT at pretty good level. Pugh is a solid player, not great. We need solid. We can't have a mountain of man with a .10 head and no fundamentals to fall back on.
And fast. If anyone thinks Eli took a beating last night wait till the revved up Eagles take them on next week. If the Giants win this game I will truly be shocked.
Eli is going to end up in Jacksonville sooner or later.
Why is it a "sinking feeling"? You are afraid our offense would go from worst in the league to worst in the league without him? You need to look at this players without an emotional attachment... like a piece of real estate.
At least we would have $20 million to spend on the offensive line.
Pugh and Richburg may grade out somewhere around 17-20th in the league at their respective positions. The other three would challenge for worst in the league (31-32).
If you assigned a number value to each of them based upon their ranking, we would most likely have the highest number value, thus worst ranked OL in the league.
Pro Football Focus ranked our OL #28 back in June and in their explanation they pointed to the left side of the line as the problem. I guess they were watching the film with a patch over their right eye.
I know you like Pugh at LT and Hart at RG. Help me fill out the rest. Do you have Flowers at RT, Jones at LG, Richburgh at C?

Yeah. The trickle down effect is likely huge.

But putting Staley in there, giving you immediate stability ... might be a big deal.
Looks beefy as hell.
Thank you Sy! Now I know I am not crazy.
The answer is staring them in the face.
I thought that this morning. They have the cap space.
Could be.
Andy - Sy doesn't think Flowers has the "want to" to play well in the NFL
Discard Flowers or relegate him to the bench or the right side ..
He's sad out there. Just sad.
Yes give me Joe Staley please. But I'm not trading a 1 or a 2 after this bad start.. no way.
Looks beefy as hell.
I'd prefer Staley-Jones-Richburg-Flowers-Pugh
I was wondering the same thing. I am not saying this year but clearly Mac does not like Eli for this offense. You can see the divide.

Also, I agree with Pugh to LT but a thread above this one already said Flowers is staying put.
With a potential 5 win season, it's time to take a deep breath and re-evaluate what direction we need to go in.
